You two are doing what millions of people only dream about. I’ve been to sea and it’s beyond words in beauty and grandeur. You will never regret doing this.
What you said is all true. My wife and I cruised for 3 years on our beloved “Simplicity”. That was over 20 years ago and we still talk about our cruising life as if it was yesterday.
Great video guys.. Thank you for sharing. Whilst battling the repetitive boredom of the days merging into each other, please take a moment to think about the pleasure you are giving your viewers. Some of us are beyond being able to achieve anything close to what you guys are doing, so we are getting to live some of it through your eyes in the brief videos that form part of your journey. I, for one, am extremely thankful for the contemplative nature of your videos and your journey sharing. Most of my life's years are in the rearview, but with amazing technology you are allowing us to share your journey even when you are so remote. I hope you are very proud of what you have achieved and are still achieving, but also for spreading joy and happiness along the way, enriching not just your own, but your viewers lives. So, thank you.. Sincerely. Stay Safe! (with love from Spain)
Thank you so much for this comment! Often we found it hard to pick up the camera knowing we are filming the same things day in and out. But we really wanted to capture this experience and be able to share it with everyone. We appreciate everyone supporting us in this journey and we look forward to sharing our landfall video real soon!
It kinda sucks when SV Delos releases a video at the same time as you and you’re in it but you’re having a great time at your destination. Takes the wind out of yours. Nice to see that you made it safely (and sane!)
I know you guys feel like this journey is torture.. but I must tell you that as someone that works a 9-5 and only adventures on weekends, holidays and vacations... you 2 have some very very very precious time together that few people on the earth have.
I watch aboutv6bor 7 sailing channels and enjoy them all.My personal opinion is you guys and one life should get the cruiser award You did most of the repairs on the dry . the 2 of you. Then you provisioned and sailed 3 thousand miles by yourselves. I applaud the 2 of you. Im sure its hard on all but you did it. No disrespect to the other channels
Gary & Brooke, you guys are truly an inspiration… I’m only one subscriber, but I think it is safe for me to say that all of your subscribers, friends and fans alike are all behind you on your journeys… hang in there you guys! ❤
Oh yes, we watched you guys yesterday and this morning we watched Delos and saw Gary swimming with the rays - so cool! Next up is seeing what Grace and Bill are up to in Vancouver. Keep going - we are learning so much about the world from you all.
Thank you very much for showing me your reality, I love the way you make it simple, fun as it can be and honest...awesome!!!! Your video is still wonderful and very clear which makes it seem like I'm hanging out with you. Life is so cool when we get to see all sides of it and this video was fantastic. For me selfishly it's like a meditation that I get to enjoy with you two. Stay safe and remember what you give us is special, thank you...
Great to see high spirits. Been traveling solo for 6 months, my companionship is watching people like you 😂 appreciate the freedom to live an extraordinary life and someone to share it with
Such a grand adventure!! You’re doing a great job with the storytelling these past months. From long, challenging days in the yard preparing the boat, to provisioning and then all the ups and downs of an epic passage, you’ve been able to capture it so beautifully. Truly exceptional and beautiful!! Can’t wait to see LAND in the next ep. Congrats and well told!❤
I have never crossed an ocean; I have always thought it would be very challenging. Getting into the mental and physical routine without going crazy. I admire you two, you're doing what many of us have only dreamed. Also, those who single hand oceans, my respect. Eventually you will be calling LAND HO. Fabulous video.
Thank you, Bob! It is extremely challenging but also extremely rewarding. We appreciate you coming along with us on this journey and we look forward to sharing our next video when we make land ho! 🙌
I have spent a few days at sea at a time on 100’ fishing boats offshore in the Pacific and I am always amazed at the feelings of isolation. Then, when I return to civilization I am amazed at how much noise there is everywhere in the city. Anyway, love this series. You guys are an inspiration.
I absolutely love how Brooke puts her thoughts out here so raw and real !!! Total honesty is hard to sadly come by now. But I really look forward to every vlog because you never know what these characters are up to now and I love that also !!! You guys are the bestest ! 👍💯😊⛵️
Hey Leanne! Really appreciate this! Ultimately, we are making the videos for us to look back on one day and I want to remember how I was feeling in those moments! Thank you for coming along with us on this journey! 💓
Just a bit of good news, I just watched Delos and you made it just fine. You might have even still had your sanity. I enjoy following along your journey and look forward to your arrival.
We all appreciate you allowing us to tag along on your journeys! This was absolutely a cruiser’s episode that shouldn’t be missed. Sometimes it’s hard to find stuff to do out on the water. Y’all managed to make it fun!! See you in next week’s video when hopefully you make landfall.
Your doing something epic, a massive sail after been on the hard in Mexico for so long. Great to see all the upgrades are performing well. Keep up the good work. Love your TH-cam channel.
Thank you for spreading out your passage over a bunch of episodes - what seems boring to you is actual very interesting to watch! I appreciate that it may not have always been easy to take out the camera and film!
Thank you! Happy to hear you are enjoying the passage episodes. It wasn't always easy to film and lots of time we felt like we were filming the same stuff day in and day out but we really wanted to capture these moments to share with everyone and also for ourselves to look back on one day! 💙
Thanks for posting these videos. This particular series, the crossing of the Pacific, feels like a very intimate look into your personal lives onboard as you're undertaking such an extraordinary journey. Even though what you're showing is just the mundane stuff that you're going through, its still very exciting to watch as it provides real insight into what this would be like to do, and I can't wait to do this myself, though I'm still probably a couple of years out from taking the plunge. Thanks again and bon voyage for this journey, and all of life's journeys ahead.
Hi Tony! Thank you! Happy to hear you are enjoying our Pacific crossing vids! Sometimes it's tough to pick up a camera to film all the boring stuff that goes on but it's all part of the experience. Hope you can get out here one day soon to experience it yourself. Cheers! 💙
Ah! it is good to see a new and refreshed video of the lazy voyage over the pacific. I cannot imagine doing this for any reason whatsoever. However, it has been a favorite of mine to watch this epic and memorable journey.
Congrats on all your hardwork to have the boat ready for all the Pacific challenges - just sent you a few bucks through your website for celebration on shore - also Love the Sailing One Life water bottle. A little pricy but so is the cost of single use plastic! Thanks for making a difference a bought one to support you and less plastic - you guys are awesome and real. I am a delivery skipper and know the range of emotions between awe and anxiety - your channel does a great job communicating these highs and lows but in the end if you love the ocean its all good!
Hi David! Thank you so much! That was so nice of you! Not sure if you saw our comment on Venmo but wanted to thank you here as well. We really appreciate it and we are looking forward to a nice dinner out! The water bottles are a bit pricey but you are right, the filter saves equivalent to 500 single use bottles so well worth the initial cost of the bottle and replacement filter. Thanks for cheering us on out here!
Oy Vey. With you, it's sailing. Me? Surfing huge Pacific waves, scuba & snorkling in Florida, Alpine sking & ski patrol, long-distance marathon running, and a small fortune in flight training. Running took time, flying took MONEY & lots of it!! Treasure every moment of joy, every moment of trial....ya get old you'll charish or rue the memory of every moment. But, the greatest regret I have? .The hearts broken needlessly and things I could of or might of done but didn't
Chef's tip I learned from a great cook. If cutting on a cutting board and you don't want it to slip or making things that are sliding around is an issue... wet a towel slightly damp and place it under cutting board or surface. Nothing will slide on that friction... love following your journey! Fair winds and following seas!
Hi Nigel! Thanks for checking on us. All is well, just behind on editing because of all the sailing we've been doing. Our next video is in progress and we hope to have it out soon. 💙
What a nice video! Really enjoyed hearing you describe how you spend your time. I also enjoyed seeing the waves and beautiful blue water. A great reminder of our "passage" from Hawaii to French Polynesia a couple of weeks ago. Other than the boat being over 900 feet long and cruising at a relatively constant 20+ knots, our trip was the same as yours ... 😂🤣. Stay safe. All the best...
Sorry, I wrote the previous note earlier in the video, before you mentioned how hard Gary had been trying to catch a fish. Have you tried Rapala Lures? Surface and diving types may help in the future. Good luck.
Nice one Gary and Brook. Too bad you had no sun for a good part of the trip. Well not enough for the solar power. Unfortunate about the fish. I guess Parlay must have baited the waters lol. I am pretty sure Brian from Delos caught a few. You were buddy boating with them right? Well good thing sun is out for the last 4 or 5 days so making water and showering shouldn't ne a problem. Pizza looked delicious. Sail safe catch your next video next week my time .
It was a bummer about not having much sun. Thankful we have the generator onboard. Yes, we did buddy boat with Delos and have seen Parlay some too! Thanks for watching and catch ya next episode!
@SailingOneLife I know you buddy boated with Delos across Pacigic and met up with Parlay in French Polynesia. If correct, I think there were 3, maybe 4 of you that buddy boated.
Ah no actually we didn't buddy boat with anyone across the Pacific. Delos crossed way ahead of us. Parlay crossed around the same time as us but a few hundred miles apart.
Hey Brooke and Gary, outstanding video. Thanks for the night watch synopsis. Great safe practices 👍. Yogurt with granola and pizza, with a Drift Creek chaser 🫣…all time favorites 🚜🇺🇸. Cheers 🥂 😊
Hi Trent! Glad you enjoyed this one! Speaking of Drift Creek, I just realized it's the perfect time of year to get out the cinnamon syrup for a nice touch! Apple pie cinnamon moonshine sundower! Yum!
I was on a transit crossing on huge Royal Caribbean cruise ship from Barcelona to New Orleans and our 9 days at sea between the Canary Islands and the Bahamas seemed like forever. I can't even imagine how it would feel on a small sail boat and for a much longer time
That sounds like a fun trip! Ha, yeah probably a bit of a different experience than on a 40 ft sailboat. We were certainly ready to stop moving and step on solid ground!
I hit that current going west when I noticed the GPS longitude was increasing! Headed north to get out of it the resumed course. It was like wtf 1 until it hit me. Pretty funny to be sailing backwards
Aagh well done guys - blue water sailing - two emotions bored sh*tless - or scared.. enjoy the process. Proud of what you are doing..you will be there soon.
Ok.. You guys are tough. No pepperoni on your pizza. I can't imagine. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 I saw 14 to 16 nts in your wind guage... Perfect trade wind sailing. Well done you two.
Funny what you start craving. I started obsessing over making a peanut butter and mayonnaise sandwich! Couldn’t wait to get ashore to make one. Never did.
Ahh, the little things in life, like pizza day! You don't have to be in the middle of the ocean to appreciate pizza day! Spotted you 2 hanging out with Delos, some sharks and rays this morning... I'll look forward to your version when it comes out down the road!!
Hey Bruce! Pizza day definitely boosts the mood! Our vids are behind real time but we are looking forward to sharing our adventures in French Polynesia with everyone real soon!
@@SailingOneLife no worries here, everyone's videos are behind real time and everyone's situation is different, I don't expect everyone to keep in sync for my benefit... although it sure would be cool... lol
Thx for the video 🙂 um don't mean to be alarmist but if some exhaust on something is starting to leak exposing you to co2 that would start off by giving both of you headaches after time below , but i dunno some people just get headaches an some don't lol , nice voyage though it seems .
Since we are not with you guys in the day - to - day stuff i wish you good sanity in the knowledge that many want to be where you are........this boy in particular. 🎉❤🎉 Thought this episode was gone to be " land ho! " Will be looking forward till next episode. 😊 See you next time.✨ 🌊 💨 ⛵️ 🏝️ 👙 🌞 ✨
Great job to you both - you seem to be handling the mental health aspects of this passing really well. We're sure there are some tough days. Do you think you will be able to catch up with Delos at some point?
Thank you! The mental aspect was a bit more challenging than we thought. Our videos are behind real time (unfortunately!). We arrived safe and sound and we were able to catch up to Delos for a bit.
Can't wait to see landfall. I want to hear all the details of what you feel throughout, like could you smell the land and what was it like? How did it feel to see it and take your first walk? 😊 Be safe.
I have worked in the service industry for 50 years, and I soooooo enjoy being alone on passage, or at anchor. as a semi introvert, I really don't need people..but, I do enjoy being around like minded people..i.e. the sailing community. So I can say after buying my boat...I have become more social, and have met many wonderful people.
My son and I went across for Nova Scotia to Portugal Azore Islands so I don't have any idea what kind of deal you guys have going on we are the outskirts of four hurricanes and of course my son did all the work I'm an old retired guy in broke my ribs the first day out seem a little boring go to bed and out quite a bit of the downtime Jamaica more exciting just a thought keep up the fun
One Life is a 40ft Nautical Development. We left from Merritt Island, FL and we do not know where our journey will stop. In this video, the destination is French Polynesia.

Ah no actually we didn't buddy boat with anyone across the Pacific. Delos crossed way ahead of us. Parlay crossed around the same time as us but a few hundred miles apart.
@SailingOneLife wow, I was wrong. Sorry, there are so many other videos I'm trying to keep up lol
Awesome job guys
Remember the journey and the destination are one
Thank you! 100%! 💙⛵
Woohoo!! Another awesome episode! The pizza looked amazing! Just as good as the pizza I had last night! 😜
🤣🤣😘😘 🥳🤩
The shavingf must have been enough fun to keep doing it. Hair next?
LOL everyone wants the man bun gone!
Yum!
Great video guys.
Can’t wait to see your next video and LAND!!🙏😎🥰🥰
Thank you! We are super excited to share French Polynesia and beyond with you!
@@SailingOneLife
Thanks for the reply.
I’m super excited to see your next video!👍🥰🏴
I was on a transit crossing on huge Royal Caribbean cruise ship from Barcelona to New Orleans and our 9 days at sea between the Canary Islands and the Bahamas seemed like forever. I can't even imagine how it would feel on a small sail boat and for a much longer time
That sounds like a fun trip! Ha, yeah probably a bit of a different experience than on a 40 ft sailboat. We were certainly ready to stop moving and step on solid ground!
I hit that current going west when I noticed the GPS longitude was increasing! Headed north to get out of it the resumed course. It was like wtf
1 until it hit me. Pretty funny to be sailing backwards
Ooof we have been there before! Not fun! 😂
Good or bad times you are living your dream. How awesome that is. Thanks for the videos
100%! We are incredibly fortunate! Thank you! 💙
nice video ! you guys are very brave and adventurous ! congratulations to this crossing !
Thank you, Ursula! 🥰
Good episode, thanks from Gary, British Columbia, Canada 🇨🇦
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Aagh well done guys - blue water sailing - two emotions bored sh*tless - or scared.. enjoy the process. Proud of what you are doing..you will be there soon.
Thanks, Dirk! Really appreciate you cheering us on all these years! 🙌⛵
Wow - you guys are troopers! I don't know if I could do that long of a passage.
Thank you! Ha, yeah it was a bit challenging at times.
Wao what an epic journey. Both are brave and valiant. Please keep safe.
Thank you, Angel! 💙 Hope you are doing great!
Ok.. You guys are tough. No pepperoni on your pizza.
I can't imagine.
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I saw 14 to 16 nts in your wind guage... Perfect trade wind sailing. Well done you two.
😂😂 we actually had pepperoni onboard but couldn't be bothered digging it out.
Those long crossings are great for crafts! I learned to cross-stitch on my first major crossing. =)
Ah great idea! Maybe I'll load up on some goodies for our next long one.
Whooooooo Pizza !! 🍕🍕🍕
Pizza party at sea!! Woooop!
I love the sound a deep sea reel makes when you hook a fish.
We love it too!!! Zingggggggg! Fish on!
Time to invest in a (noisy) wind generator, and maybe the expensive hydro vane, that trails behind and charges your batteries.
Agreed, we would love a wind genny and hydro vane! Maybe for our next refit!
The boat and the sails look great!!
Thank you so much! We put a lot of love into our floating home!
Super exciting! The boatyard seems soooo long ago.
I know! Wild to think about, isn't it?
Very cool...
Thanks, Matt!
Funny what you start craving. I started obsessing over making a peanut butter and mayonnaise sandwich! Couldn’t wait to get ashore to make one. Never did.
PB and Mayonnaise?! Interesting! Haven't heard of that combo before!
@@SailingOneLife no worries here, everyone's videos are behind real time and everyone's situation is different, I don't expect everyone to keep in sync for my benefit... although it sure would be cool... lol
I have totally enjoyed your adventure.
Best wishes
Thank you for coming along with us, Doug!
😀👍👍👍❤ Hello again from Seattle, WA. Thank you for episode # 112.
Hi Thomas! Thank you! Hope you enjoyed it.
Thx for the video 🙂 um don't mean to be alarmist but if some exhaust on something is starting to leak exposing you to co2 that would start off by giving both of you headaches after time below , but i dunno some people just get headaches an some don't lol , nice voyage though it seems .
Thanks! We have a co2 alarm onboard so all good! We believe our headaches were from lack of sleep and not drinking as much water as we should have.
@@SailingOneLife Thx long as your safe 🙂
I have spent weeks at a time on a boat, keep a routine, work on the boat during the day and rest at night.
Since we are not with you guys in the day - to - day stuff i wish you good sanity in the knowledge that many want to be where you are........this boy in particular. 🎉❤🎉 Thought this episode was gone to be " land ho! " Will be looking forward till next episode. 😊 See you next time.✨ 🌊 💨 ⛵️ 🏝️ 👙 🌞 ✨
Hi Richard! Land ho, next time! We look forward to sharing that with you! Cheers! 💙🙌⛵🍻
You guys are having a great sail and keep fishing with a big ass lure !!
Thank you, Brian!
Awesome trip, hope you catch a tuna soon.
Thanks, Brian!
Can't wait to see landfall. I want to hear all the details of what you feel throughout, like could you smell the land and what was it like? How did it feel to see it and take your first walk? 😊 Be safe.
Hi Mike! Looking forward to sharing our next video with you! Hopefully we answer some of these questions in the next one.
We love the sailing community. So many like-minded individuals that are always lifting each other up. Happy to hear you are enjoying it, too!
Keep the faith!
Thank you! 🥰💙
Hey Marvin! Yep, that is sailing. 99% boredom and 1% chaos!
Wondering what the length of your vessel is, and your originating port, and destination?
One Life is a 40ft Nautical Development. We left from Merritt Island, FL and we do not know where our journey will stop. In this video, the destination is French Polynesia.
The fun is not in going there but by being there 😊
We 100% agree, Tom!
Question: what is your plan when you arrive at your destination? Will you hang out for a few months before sailing back?
Hi there! Our plan is to continue heading west, visiting as many places as we can!
