Our focus was of course touring around world class vineyards and wine farms in and around Stellenbosch; however, we also covered some of best outdoor activities and cultural experiences such as going on a vineyard segway tour, wine safari, visiting a township and eating a local Xhosa meal. Stellenbosch town has numerous attractions worth visiting and a wonderful cafe, restaurant and nightlife scene. Fortunately, we had a chance to explore on foot and bicycle to see a different side of town. On our very first trip to South Africa we spent one day in Stellenbosch where we did a wine tour and hit up a total of 5 wineries. It was an action packed day but we knew we had only seen a fraction of what this place has to offer and we were itching to return! Fast forward two years, and we found ourselves with an invitation to come and experience Stellenbosch, this time with a week to spare. Naturally we said yes! This being the winelands meant that our itinerary was wine heavy, but we also got to see sample the food, visit the markets, check out the nightlife and get close to nature. The following is our travel guide to Stellenbosch, pour yourself a glass of wine, sit back, and join us on this ride!
In between all the feasting and vineyard hopping, we also found a bit of time to explore Stellenbosch itself. Stellenbosch is a charming town located in the Western Cape, and it’s the second oldest European settlement in the province after Cape Town. The streets are lined with oak trees, the buildings are all painted white, and you have a cool mix of Early Cape, Cape Dutch, and Victorian architecture.
And while Sam was off hiking, I did a biking tour of Stellenbosch with the Adventure Shop, where I learned a bit more about the town’s history, and got out in nature, before biking over to the Lanzerac Wine Estate where we met up with the group again. Here we had a light lunch featuring a spread of cheese, deli meats, fresh fruits, and of course, wine!
And just like that our week in Stellenbosch was over! I think it’s fair to say that we left a few pounds heavier, but with a newfound appreciation for South African wine and a taste of what the winelands have to offer. Great video! If you had just one day to spend in Stellenbosch, what would you recommend to do? what are the must-do in your opinion? There are so many wine estates and experiences that we really do not know which one to pick!
Hey guys. Great video - seems like you guys really got around! I'm a Stellenbosch local and you guys showed a few places I haven't been to yet - will have to do some catching up. P.S. sadly Lanzerac suffered a rather serious fire this past weekend which devastated some of the buildings.

Thank you very much! You don't necessarily have to do a tour. You can visit the wineries independently. That being said the first time we visited we did a Wine Flies tour which covered 5 in one day including a nice braai for lunch.
I'm so glad you guys aren't Vegan. You can't visit South Africa and not try our lamb or Braai. And I'm so glad you went to HogHouse, it's my favorite.

We moved around quite a bit staying at the wine estates mostly (Spier and Jordan). I would suggest 4 days at a minimum and a week if you have the time to spare.

Thank you! LOL, any weight I had lost I'm pretty I've gained back after this week of feasting and drinking. The township we did visit was was fascinating and the Xhosa meal afterwards was an experience we'll never forget.

i dont get people who go on wine holidays.. just buy the wine at home. i want to here about the bike trails, the sports, the gardens, waterfalls, wildlife, horserides, town life, paintballing, nightlife, unique settings and restraunts, culture.
this vidoe is just a waste of my time watching you taste wines (that youve not even bothered to mention the names of) and eating non traditional foods
I understand your point. For some people it is to relax and eat well and rest. Some of these locations offer all of that for those wanting to enjoy some adventure as well.
