Thank you Lee for your courage in speaking about your past with honesty, integrity and frankness. Your unique understanding of both sides of the system is powerful and I hope and pray that you will be given many opportunities to not only speak out but have access to those who might listen who are in a position to create change in a system that is inhumane and just not fit for purpose. Wishing you blessings for your future xx

Great podcast, Shaun. I didn’t think it would be worth spending 4 hours listening to this but it was such a gripping, emotional story. Lee is a flawed individual like the rest of us but I hope he continues on this path of positivity. He’s done his time (in and out of prison) and now deserves to be happy. Good luck, Lee 🤞

Lee brings an everyman feel to this interview that we all are only one wrong decision away from trouble. Lets be honest we've all made mistakes we regret and Lee you must truly forgive yourself and understand it was a bad decision but you are not a bad man (big distinction)and the older we get we realise that life cannot be replayed but marches on and sometimes under stress and we can only do our best at that time with the information we have. If you find a wiseman he will teach you many lessons usually from his mistakes.

What an absolutely outstanding interview. Wow. Lee Davies’ authenticity, self-awareness, constructive introspection, and willingness to share everything is inspiring. So is how you take responsibility, repeatedly, not blaming others or indulging in self-pity. The last half hour especially is just really, really motivating stuff. You can truly help people just by sharing as you do and being you. And as for Shaun Attwood, keep doing what you do. You are a simply outstanding interviewer. The first sign of that is how little you say, how much you let your subject speak, telling their story, nudging where appropriate to keep on track. The second is the quality of your careful, open-ended questions. Third is how you truly don’t judge. And, finally, you just got me to listen to four straight hours, which has never happened before. You’re both amazing. Keep on your roads.

One of the best podcasts I've listened to & it certainly didn't seem like 4 hours! The way Lee told his story was not only extremely interesting & well spoken but so open & honest & I admire him for being so real & owning his shit! A very important trait so many people lack but he has genuine integrity. Telling his story might just help someone feel better about their own & to realise that just because you might make mistakes doesn't mean you're not a good person with a kind heart who deserves a chance to learn from them & move on without judgement from other non perfect people!
Best of luck to you Lee, you deserve it :)

Woooow…. I was so intrigued by the title of Lee’s interview, and have been absolutely captivated to listen to it. Lee is such a good story teller, I watched the entire interview at once and had no idea it was 4 hours long until the end. I know he doesn’t say so, but it’s clear just how dangerously manipulative hardened criminals in prison can be towards naive staff members who don’t have good personal boundaries. I found it really hard to hear about the lack of community and healthcare support available for his mental health and addictions outside of prison, and felt grieved that so many people would just write him off for employment after he had done his time. I really hope Lee writes a book because he has some incredible stories to share that involve overcoming many personal struggles which a lot of people can relate to, and his story is so unique and intriguing that lots of people will really be drawn to it for that reason.

@Shaunattwoodofficial You're an excellent interviewer. Other podcasters should take note. You listen very well, ask sensible follow-on questions, and never interrupt the guest. When you have something to add of your own, it's genuinely interesting and germane to the conversation at hand. I can't stand interviewers who need to hear their own voice.

From a current serving officer, fuck ups happen. Its good to hear stories from the other side of the door and that the lads in there treated you okay. You sound like a top bloke and its a shame you slipped down that path. The counter corruption training on the POELT course really isn't enough. Getting guys like you in to chat to new officers would be a great idea. Take care of yourself, I hope everything works out.

I am totally binging on your Channel right now! You have the perfect personality and intelligence to reach so many people. I am so happy for you and everybody that is benefiting from your experiences. I was watching Michael Francese and I was so fascinated by your story that I I went straight away to your channel and other social media. I actually think I saw you before, perhaps on lockdown 23 and 1. I know it seems bizarre that I would be so interested in prison TH-camrs, but I actually have a MBA in nonprofit, along with two other previous Masters. I I am a professional researcher, focusing on demographics and marginalized societies. I found your bio so interesting, because I write grants for prison reform. I've heard you say before that you are a bit of a nerd. No one, and I mean no one is geekier than someone who writes 200 Page grants. LOL! Nonprofit and politics make me see things very differently. What you and I are doing is really not that different. . We are exposing the atrocities that are the United States Penal system . There's a few other TH-camrs I watch, one I think you would be particularly interested in is Jessica Kent. She got caught dealing and distributing large quantities of methamphetamines and heroin. She also gave birth while in Chains in an Arkansas prison. Beyond horrific. You really would be amazed at what she has been through and how far she has come. She went from having a 9th grade education to now having her Bachelor's in prison Support Services or something to that effect. I appreciate everything you are doing. Love to you and yours, Catherine
