    Great info and amazing footage! I think we have a long ways to go before or if we ever get on a river like that. Lynn sent us over to your channel! Nice to connect! - Scott and Tammy

    This looks great! What's your opinion on current conditions? Thinking about making this run next week. Thanks for the wonderfully detailed videos, Dana!

      Hi there. Thanks for watching. We just ran it at 470 cfs and is was great. Right now it's at 518. It should hold 3 to 4 over the next week. Be sure to check the river app to be sure. You will have a great trip. Safe travel.

      @@danahollister4084 thanks for the quick response! I checked gauge but am glad to hear it’s runnable with no deal breaking strainers. Do you ever paddle the south fork of the San Miguel or sections above caddis?

      @@GatewoodBrown I have not done the south fork. There is a strainer just above Caddis. Not sure about the Sawpit section but it looked good today. I need to research that run a bit more. Be aware of the section just above Caddis I hear it's no joke. Let me know about the south fork if you learn more.

      @@danahollister4084 you bet! Think caddis to piñon would be too much for a day?

    At higher water that wooden bridge looks like it could present a real danger to paddlers. Are there any up river warning signs about the bridge?

    • @danahollister4084
      @danahollister4084  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Craig. The river is pretty wide there so I think it would have to be really high to a problem. At that high level probably wouldn't want to run it. There are no signs about the bridge. A good point you make to be on the lookout. It would be possible to portage if need be. Thanks for the note and for watching.

    Do you think it’s still class II and III at 800-1000 cfs?

    • @danahollister4084

      My gut tells me no. I think you should be very cautious. I would scout as much as possible before you go or talk to the commercial outfits. The other thing to consider is after this high water trees are eroded and fall across the river. I would check with as many as possible before even thinking about it. I would say depending on the craft it's a no go. Hope that helps. Safe travel.

      I ran it today at about 850 cfs from Caddis Flats to Beaver Creek. It was fast but didn’t feel dangerous. Some snags but everything avoidable. I was solo in an inflatable kayak. It took less than 90 mins. Honestly even more water would have been fine. You need to be very vigilant to stay focused on what’s coming as it never slows down much. I think this is a good first section on the SM, I’m no expert and felt confident. The footbridge near the end would be a little low for rafts, I had to duck, but people are definitely rafting it today. Thanks for the great videos Dana, I live nearby and we have similar interests. 👍

      @@clintw8173 So glad you had a good trip. Often higher cfs can be helpful. Thanks for the report. Stay safe.
