I always teach people: 45 degrees into the dock, tie to the dock from the front, then steering wheel into the dock while putting the boat on reverse. If you have lateral thrusters, mainly use the outboard thrust to avoid too much forward movement.
New Yamaha owner here.... you're right, I did the tie off and reverse turn. Worked out very well. I used to do it with my I/O too but almost essential with a jet.
that was so simple and safe. Thanks for this great tip.
You're welcome
If it's blowing hard and you are buy yourself loop the line over the post then bring it back to your cleat, you can retie after you dock.

Beautiful boat
Docking in windy conditions on a perfect day... nice tips lol
I've also found it very helpful to stow the bimini before docking if there's a lot of wind. Sometimes it acts as a sail that you have to work against.
True! Good point!
Nice trick!
I think the only thing you missed was when turning towards the dock to use reverse
You should do this video again when there is actually wind lol
Easier to demonstrate for video sake when calm, work with me here, lol
@@JetBoatPilot 🤣🤣🤣
where is the wind sir :S
Do not turn off the engine until the boat is secure
Exactly.
