OUTSTANDING! Your use of the Vietnam Earth Pigments is especially fine and ultra realistic. After a year of duty in Vietnam I can assure you of one thing. The red dust there is insidious and covers EVERYTHING. You can taste it! I served with an infantry brigade of a mechanized infantry division. One observation on your build. I never saw a M-113 which did not have the track shrouds (rubber side fenders above the road wheels) removed from the vehicle. The shrouds were mud catchers and could easily jam the road wheels with accumulated mud if not removed. Again, OUTSTANDING build! Thanks for sharing.
Nice. Simple, effective weathering and a good build. If your ever in Idar Oberstein, Ill buy you a beer and talk modelling lol... On a side note here, I really do like the weathering. There are many YT vids where (IMO) it feels like the weathering is way overdone to the point where it looks like a cartoon or that it is such a striking contrast that it looks "un natural". I always believed, and still do, that weathering should be (under MOST conditions) subtle. Again, nice build.
Haha Thank you! 🍻🍺😎 Yes, I agree with you. Many model makers build their models in comic style or exaggerate with weathering. Personally, I don't like that that much either. ✌
I was in 4Div. ( Mech) Inf. These APC'S were not very protective , they were made out of Aluminum , the sides were flat , any rocket fired at it would penetrate and kill everybody inside so We were told to ride on top always! They were meant to be troop carriers but I think who ever built them did a fkd up Job !
By the way..there is no need to paint the road wheel rubber….these got sprayed for paint and the only thing we ever masked off was the periscope glass and the lenses for lights / black out drive. We used grease smeared over those and wiped it all off after the paint was dry.
Suggestion. Please slow the track down, make it longer if needed and we can move it forward if required. Personally I thought it was great, but missed a lot of interesting parts due to the speed of the video. I shall watch more of your videos.
Thanks very much! 👍 I'm not the experienced TH-camr yet and I'm still learning. But I'll try to do some things better in the future. Unfortunately, most people want short videos.
The thing about this model that has irritated me for 40 years is that the pull chain on the combat cargo hatch was on the wrong side of the hatch. Really simple mistake but a big mistake to anyone who has ever ridden on a 113.
I was a TC (Track Commander) back in the day. A couple of things, First, you have no unit designation. This was stenciled on both front and back fenders. Second, you should have chipped the hell out of the model, to include the rubber of the running wheels. We were forever scraping trees and such. Third, you have a grunt manning the 50 cal. It was usually the TC that manned the MG. Biggest scares- mines and getting hit in that stupid fuel tank, The idiot that designed that tank to be on the inside of the crew compartment must never have rode in an M113.
Dust in the dry season and in the rainy season red orange mud nam country 3/4 cav b troop armor div 25th inf . all scratch off markings ,like white stars and cartoon image s. antennas drawings found on dead NVA showed comand track where we put all antennas on to confuse ID .No sand bags or steel screens were affective, to stop RPGs 7-8.proof apparent, expierence .shroulds wheel track covers ,removed, water front deflecture , over motor covering removed, no cans hanging on rear .floor covered in ammo boxs and some seat benchs removed ,no seats for top mid gunner removed etc.each was for a ordered .depends on command and use indiviual comfort of use .Steak on thursday ,spoied we were.

Vietnam war version….yup…and the same damn version that I drove and commanded in the 80’s… it really didn’t change.
Awesome!!!!👏👍👌
Thank you for your nice comments. I am very happy that you like my models so much! 🙂👍😊🤝
