I've used those hotels, they are better than nothing (just!), and cheap. I would like to say that your narration has improved immeasurably day 1, and you became addictive viewing. I will have to console myself with Wales for this year as I moved here 4 years ago. Next year Europe beckons...

Wales has some fantastic roads to enjoy, just need to watch out for the speed traps and some of the "indestructible" riders and drivers.

Another enjoyable video Nick. Flashing headlights to warn of an upcoming speed trap seems to be a universal signal. Agree, that was a weird hotel. I don’t think I could have slept with that wallpaper!

Hi Jim, thanks, and luckily it was dark so I didn't have to look

I hope that nobody used the door at the top of the stairs during the night!!! Used an F1 hotel in France for one night several years ago, something never repeated. Mike.

A little oil would help. Are they all like that? Very odd

Hi Nick that D27 route looks like parts of Wiltshire! Interested to see what you make of Metz. Nice city with the worst hotel I’ve ever nearly stayed in. Hope you found somewhere good to stay. 😀

Hi Peter, the hotel in Metz was indeed a little odd, but it was at least clean and available

Thank you so very much for sharing your experience and insights.
The CB500x was a good choice. I went down the same thought process as you and I ultimately decided on a 2019 Africa Twin.
I have only seen 3 of your videos thus far, but I have noticed that you made no mention of your tool and safety kits. Also, have you considered theft prevention measures. And about the bike, have you made any modifications besides the bark busters? What about tires? Details on all of the above would be helpful as I am planning a ‘longish’ trip this spring/summer and I would very much appreciate any advice.

Hi John. Take a look at the description in this video, it lists the kit, mods etc. Having returned to the UK I replaced the AX41 tyres with the OEM Dunlop Trailmax Mixtour and as I don't really do much off road the OEM are enough for the odd gravel roads. My toolkit was fairly basic, Ring/Open ended spanner/wrenches for the popular sizes, similar with hex keys plus socket and bar for axle nut to adjust the chain. I also had a disk lock for overnight stops and a large looping padlock that I could use to connect all the luggage, that I removed overnight. I'm planning on doing a bit of a review of all the gear and choices, but hope this helps for now. All the best with the AT

What was the outside temperature while you were in France, beautiful area, weather looked kinda nasty.

Hi Terry, hmmm, not sure, best I can do is say it was "mild"
