Excellent video Peter on "pulling" the ball left with iron shots. At times, I not only have this problem with irons, but with driver and fairway woods as well. I don't believe my fault is with my grip or body alignment or ball position, but it may have something to do with a flying right elbow and right shoulder coming out and around, not down. My swing is normally in to out, but on occasion it has a mind of its own. Good Job Peter! Keep up the good work!

Yes John, it could be your right arm movement is causing the clubhead to pass your hands before impact.

Hi Peter, thanks for your video. I tried hitting irons with a more neutral grip and bingo they are straighter. Thanks

Thanks Gretel. Should help with all your short shots as well.

Hey Peter great video , it's funny I was at range this morning and the 10 yard pull to the left was happening a bunch of times, Peter I'm having trouble taking the ball out of they equation, meaning I've been a little steep because my brain wants to hit the ball, I'm sure you've seen this many times ,so a little steep makes my rotation off and gives me a slightly closed face at impact so here comes the 20 yards tugg I call it, But I'd like to add that I'm a club golfer who's getting up.in age, and still wants to get some distance which is the route of all my problems , to big of shoulder rotation ,swaying, low piont changes just not good, thats why i think im chasing that ball i wanna get to it and ' hit it further, i need to regroup and slow down, m thinking of switching to players distance irons and get some stronger lofts on the clubs, Anyway bla bla bla, thank for reminder about grip , it's so important for the proper release at the ball !

Thanks for sharing Kevin. Game improvement clubs may certainly help. Best to work with a club fitter to be sure.

I have this issue with my irons. When I hit the ball, it goes straight left for a bit and then curves more left. My PGA Pro is working with me on shaft lean...so I suspect your last "reason" is the cause of my own issue. My grip is neutral, and my ball position is right where you suggest (I practice often with alignment sticks, so my alignment and aim are pretty good for someone with a high handicap; 24.8, down from 34 this season).
Great information. I do video my swing. I have an iPhone 11. I find it useful, but the shaft is always so blurred that i really can't tell what my shaft lean really looks like at impact.

Great progress John. Try using your phone on slo-mo, that should reduce the blur.

Hi Peter, this seems exactly what my issue is. Pull shots with my irons and high fades with driver. If the clubface reaches the ball too early causing the face to close early (which I know I do) causing a pull shot, why does this swing cause a high fade with the driver and not a pull shot like the irons ? Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated 👍

It’s likely that your swing path with both is slightly outside-in. Because the driver has less loft than your irons it influences the shot differently. Your shot pattern is quite common.
