I just had to replace mine on my 2011 Acadia in the middle of my vacation! Thank you to the comment that mentioned removing the oil filter and wiggling out I was able to replace the starter in the hotel parking lot in 1 1/2 hour!
Thank you so much for sharing this. I was able to change mine in about 8 hours split over two days LOL!!. This truly helped the process. Truly the worst place to put a starter. very tight space indeed. Luckily, I did not have to use a torch like you did.
Well, I'm here because my 2012 Acadia decided it didn't want to turn over anymore. I replaced the battery first as well, no change. It doesn't even try to start, it will click and all the gauges die. So I checked the cables and connections, all good. Now I gotta get the starter replaced and after watching this video I could do it, but don't have the time. So to my local mechanic we go lol.
OEM. That's all I put it now. The aftermarket ones work on old models but not the newer stuff. I guess that's why they're a lot cheaper. No core charge on that one. Thanks for watching!!
Just did this on my 2011 you can manage without taking off the catalytic converter. You have to remove the oil filter and finagle it but it did go for me
I think you did a great job reguardless of what you miss we all know it' go on the same way you took it off only thing I like to do is replace the gasket on the exhaust flange both sides reguardless of good or bad
Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it. New gaskets were installed top and bottom but I also just used a little high temp silcone to make sure it seals if there is any imperfection like rust. This one looked really good. It's just a habbit I guess.
You didn’t show hooking up the primary hot wire back onto the starter and the starter heat shield with the 8mm bolt. I only saw you connect the push plug wires back onto the starter. Some people say to take out the top Oxygen sensor and the Knock sensor and the starter out the top side instead of taking it out from the bottom. I’m not sure which is easier because you left out reconnecting the hot wire and the heat shield on the starter. I’m working on a 2010 and no video on that year is found.
After the starter mounting bolts are in, you can reconnect the battery wire and put the shield on. I had a customer come in so I kinda lost my place in the video and didn't film that part, but it is just reverse proceedure. Not a bad job to do. Just seems like a lot of work for a starter. I''ve seen worse. Thanks for watching.
Every job is a little bit different. In my case I needed to use heat but you could always try a penetrant to see if that would work. Thanks for watching!!
Just removed the starter from removing the oil filter... it...was...a...bytch but it was easier to put it back in. Truck still won't start and now something is completely draining my brand new battery! When I try to crank it, the battery gauge goes from 14 to 8! Helllllp meeee!!!

You can do by removing oil filter and finagling the starter up through the top . I couldn’t get my cat off so I did it without removing it
@@alexjeffs7092wait wait wait really? You can just move to oil filter and do it?

No problem 👍
Can it be done with removing the motor mount and bracket.
Unfortunately you have to pull the catalytic converter off. I just don't think there is a way around it. Thanks for watching!
Was that an OEM catalytic converter and was there a core charge?
I need one for my 2011 Acadia.

Hey sir!
I've changed the starter and it runs but the crank is long before it starts. Like a hard start. I'm not quite sure
Not sure what your case is is, but typically when you have an engine that has an extended crank before start, it's usually fuel related.
@@paycheckmonster thank you sir!
Hi I have a problem in cooling fans and include two powers the firsit work but the second parked what do you is the solution please answer
Not really sure what your asking????
Any auto parts store will have replacement exhaust studs in the HELP section.
do you think you could have gotten those exhaust bolts out without heat or breaking them?
I couldn't get them out without heating them.
@@paycheckmonster ok thanks I won't even try them lol
Where your shop located
Was there a specific reason you didn't you use wd 40 for the loosening of the bolt's below the heat shield?
Fire wrench works better than liquid wrench in this case.
Okay. If I don't have that, would a little wd 40 work?

At 13:20ish right as the starter is coming out you can see a wire bolted to the block that the starter was hiding, do you know what that is by chance?
That should be Bank #2 knock sensor.
