Just my two cents. I would remove the res and muffler as one piece then cut and weld in new pipe with an arc welder (or you can sleeve and C clamp it). Makes it much easier then try to "cut and paste" under the car. My Mercedes 92 500SL (5.0 V8) was so quiet and piped down by Y fittings to a single pipe that deleting the res and muffler even didn't make it all that loud. Only at higher RPMs you could hear it. Though a 4 cylinder turbo will sound much different, if there is too much drone at freeway speed you can always add something like a Cherry Bomb Extreme muffler.
