I played this track non-stop after my mother died. It expressed everything I was feeling: the profound loss, the ache of her absence. And life, going on as it does, as it must.

My mom just passed June 4th, I am alone in our house, sorting and throwing things out and giving away, and I weep each time I take some shoes or sweaters and donate them.. I weep daily... I had plans to remodel the house but she left before I could.. And thus I began to remodel the entire house. It seems that every room has my tears all over, often times weeping while working I would only stop when the sun went down...
Now I sit outside alone in our favorite spot and I look up to the night sky and I say "mom, I'm almost done and I think you would have liked it"... Good night

I know it's not the same as your mothers but whenever my cat was very ill, I used to hold him very close to me and this song would come on and it became his song. He died. Was 19 years old. When I hear this, I think about him. Newt. My little Newt new. It hurt me just as bad as if I would have lost a child.

The video and the song just remind me how much life is beautiful. It's made of beautiful tragedies, things that hurt but that you remember vividly, that make you feel alive. Things that you ALWAYS take for granted. I don't know if you've ever tried to capture a moment. You see someone you love. You picture the scene. It's unfolding in front of you. And you feel your body recording it. What you see is the setting, and your soul is the tape. You know that it won't happen again. And yet, you're trying to convince yourself of the opposite. But it's gone already. You're trying everyday to capture things better. To make sure that your life is fuller thanks to them, that it is meaningful, whatever that means. You love that person. But you want to love them more. Because everything's almost gone. But you're not gonna let them go. No way. That's your purpose.
Maybe you've had that discussion with your friend not long ago. You stayed long at night and couldn't stop talking. You sat together. And you were taking all the time there was to take. Your two souls were tuned to the same beat. And everything around you made it better. I've been listening to this song at least 5 times in repeat now. Recording and re-recording the feeling I have listening to it.

it's hard to remember the love I felt the friendships I had because it's in the past. I can't repeat it, and I'm alone in my bed, day after day, month after month. being alone is good, I've found myself a bit. but one thing I haven't found is joy. contentness. I am always lost. always feeling like I am on the wrong path, the wrong everything. I want to wake up and feel alive. I want to feel the rain on my skin and realize I am exactly where I am meant to be. I want to feel the love radiating off of me, I want to feel that in other people. I don't want to feel pain anymore, I don't want anyone to feel pain anymore. why does life give me pain when looking back at good memories? I should be living in the happiness of them existing in the first place.

      Hi
If I may - Here's some personal suggestions, from experience:
      1) Go for walks, longer the better (if you're up awake all night try walking at dawn, it's so quiet, deserted and lovely I've found, and you can breathe in the cool, fresh air before the busyness of the day smogs it up, hear the wind hush and breathe in the treetops, morning birdsong etc, empties the head right out of all its circular bullshit!) Keep walking.
      2) Eat well (you can buy a 3-tier steamer (about £25) and just throw fresh food into it! (fish/chicken/veg etc) 20 mins later healthy food is ready!
      - takes zero effort & zero cooking skill - and I should know, having neither) '@~@'
      - Just doing THIS for a while made a noticeable difference in how I feel.
      3) Try out some music with a more fierce energy, maybe like this great new band of dark psy-rock French madmen SLIFT:
      th-cam.com/video/KJoLGNu5BFY/w-d-xo.html
or some more gentle, sincere accoustic music like KOC th-cam.com/video/uXTdOefqGf0/w-d-xo.html
or some music that it's just about impossible to stay sad to, like some classic 1974 Funk th-cam.com/video/6QYbZsBPawI/w-d-xo.html
      4) BBC Nature documentaries help give me a sense of existential perspective, and audio books on headphones exercises imagination instead of sitting there stewing in doomy moods.
      With change
Ya can't move a whole mountain,
      You just can't,
But you CAN pick up a pebble each day,
and have a surprisingly big fuckin pile by the years end!
      - Well, this stuff is making some difference for me, after a few fucked years of hospitalizations and pills etc, it's really surprising what a difference little 'pebble-y' changes can make; the dark cloud lifts, the 'stinkin thinkin' recedes, noticeable improvement. 👍

Well, next up for THIS nut cutlet: Meditation (with dark ambient, I find it helps with the old problem of inner STFU) & some Yoga I reckon, why not eh?
      th-cam.com/video/K4iDloZpSco/w-d-xo.html
      - Hope this is helpful in some way, and good luck with your own journey! :)

      @@asoulscondition7466 Likewise mate,
You're completely welcome, I hope it's of some small use to you! 👍
They're just small practical methods that have been helping me out, a good bit.
(after years of trying to 'think all this stuff through' and getting just about flippin' no where with it all, lol! @~@
So now, I just want to find whatever *practical, do-able* solutions / methods that I can......ie: No more idealism up the wazzoo.....So, all that stuff I *can't* change is going on the backburner.

Beautiful - love the wide breadth of the mix, the little artefacts & noises of the studio left in, and the and organic build-up throughout the song - looking forward to more (from you, and the robot friends).

I am 20, and i pretty much am alone most of the time. I wish i had a group of friends like those in the video. I feel so alone sometimes. I remember all those friends i had before. Just drifted away. Now i am alone.

You are the kind of musician genius who's able to make music very enjoyable but not only. It's also a source of motivation, sadness and happyness too. Congrats Olafur, you've helped the music industry to enter into a new era. My synesthesia makes your music so unique. Thanks a very lot mate.
