    ATTENTION TO ALL::: The restaurant at ROSAMOND SKYPARK [LOO] will be open weekends starting the weekend of the 14th of Aug 2021 at 08:00 ... The best breakfast in the Anteloope Valley ! Parking in front of the restaurant - first come first served.

    Awesome flight, and to Catalina.
    Brings back memories. I had gone from TOA to SBA. On return trip I requested the Coastal Route. It's wild seeing departing LAX traffic going under you...

    Ah man, I had the opportunity to fly over LAX, but Catalina’s runway wasn’t open back then, I guess next time!!!!

      Absolutely next time... well worth it... an island version of Sedona. Thx as always for watching. Wayne

    Great video, thanks for sharing. I grew up in San Diego and learned to fly at Carlsbad. Flew to Catalina many times! This brought back some nice memories.

    Nice! I was lucky enough to have (well, "take") a day off during a conference LA in 2003. Rented a Cherokee and a CFI at SMO and flew to AVX, transiting the no-clearance-required SFRA enroute.

      AVX is indeed special... also the SFRA is cool/weird (sans ATC contact). Since we were coming down from Santa Barbara, the higher Coastal Route (5500') made more sense for us so that we could get some altitude for the water crossing. Thanks again for watching! Wayne

    Great video buddy. I am getting ready for my IFR check in 3 weeks or less now, had to take a break from studying for my written to watch this video. I just purchased my own plane so I can't wait to start doing whatever I want when I want without worry about rental fees or having the plane back by a certain time:)

      Congrats on your own plane... best wishes on your IFR checkride... and thanks for watching! Wayne

      Ramon, thanks for watching! I'm in the same boat... waiting for my DA40 to come out of annual (new propeller).

      @@GeezerGeekPilot Always a nervous time of the year for me. No flying and wondering what the mechanic might find.

    What was the GPS routing you used for the coastal route in foreflight? Thanks!

    • @GeezerGeekPilot
      @GeezerGeekPilot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Presley... on this day, southbound we flew the LA Coastal Route... something like KSBA SADDE LAX KAVX. See 00:48 in the video. If I remember correctly we flew the VOR inbound and outbound (or OBS on the Garmin, not sure which)... in looking at the track we might have been better off flying the magenta line on ForeFlight 😀. Thanks for watching! Wayne (DA40 KSBA)
