Thank you for hosting me to explore skateboarding and human health through the lens of neuroscience. I'm forever grateful I found skateboarding way back when and it was an honor and pleasure to be on The Nine Club.
I've never cursed out loud while listening to a podcast, but that whole bit about neuroplasticity and age blew my mind! "your neuroplasticity is the greatest when you are young, however you don't have control of your environment when you're young. When you get older, your neuroplasticity isn't as great but you have control of your environment and change can occur" (paraphrasing)
Mitchell Park and Palo Alto CalTran station ledges all day son...also that skate shop inside that toy store in downtown Palo Alto. I forgot the name...maybe you remember.?. Great interview!
This guy spoke to me more then anyone on TH-cam has to date. This was the most interesting episode to me. I relate with him alot and everything he said made sense. This was a learning experience about myself more then anything. I wish he was my life coach. Thank you
been listening to andrew for years, never knowing he had the skate background he did until the jenkem piece. crazy to hear him know so many people in the industry so casually, this was a perfect blending of worlds.
The only bad thing about this episode is that I have to wait til after work to watch the whole thing. First 20 mins were so good I nearly called in a personal day.
A skateboarder and geek here, I almost always felt like a weirdo because I loved skateboarding and science, but there’s more of us. LOVED THIS EPISODE.
"Addiction is a progressive narrowing of the things that give us pleasure. And I don't know anything about enlightenment, or a good life, but if there is an enlightenment or good life then it's about a progressive expansion of the things that give you pleasure"...Wow.... 2:12:30
Wow is right. I read your comment earlier in the episode & just got to this timestamp. Immediately scrolled back down because I wanted to see if it was the same. Anyways, awesome quote.
@@colliemon ah yeah so I learned that the term " reciprocal narrowing" comes from PHD and Author Marc Lewis who erotr a book called Memoires of An Addicted Brain which is well recieved. So Reciprocal narrowing is Marc Lewis's appropriation. John and Andrew know his work, I think John adapted the mode to describe a reciprocal opening - the opposite effect.
It’s beautiful to me to see and hear someone who came up in skateboarding and has it in their DNA do so much good for so many people. That drive to contribute is so deep and so powerful. Love this conversation and opening the show up to skaters like Andrew.
Andrew I only discovered you recently, been a skateboarder for the past 2 decades (on a break currently due to injuries) and I can only say you’re a gift that keeps on giving. Keep it up!
I live in the same building as the owner of GX1000. We’re on the edge of the TL and Andrew Huberman is my favorite human being. I discovered him in JRE and now I only listen to Andrew. Thnx for the great conversation to all of you.
Great job fellas. Probably one of the best nine Club episodes yet. Y'all asked a lot of get questions. Pretty sure everyone's going to listen to this episode several times
This is by far the Nine Club episode that I learned the most out of all of them, maybe side by side with Paul Schmitt´s. And what I learned will for sure benefit my life!!
Entering into 2nd week post surgery.. double neck vertebrae fusion. Thanks for having this dude on. Like a lot of this neurological stuff I would NEVER have heard of or thought of. Seriously guys thanks. I’ll be following this dude for more of this info.
Super interesting perspective on the EMB days and the 90s skate scene from a regular kid told it like it was and gave more insight to some of the heads and the scene than anyone else has done on this show
What an epic episode. At age 60 and ex-skater since '80 and 40 years of software engineering, I wanted to make a comment about every 10 minutes throughout this entire conversation. Having skating as the (sub)context here is perfect. Every topic is 100% applicable across most/all aspects of life. I don't think a better sport could be the foundation for everything you guys got into. I've been listening to AH for years now and put many of his techniques to work in my own life. I'm pushing links to my non-skater friends who can think abstractly and parse out the skate specific stuff. Thanks for this.
Man, I’ve watched or listened to at least 60 or 70 different Nine Club interviews, and this right at the top. Informative, interesting, and entertaining on a level beyond the norm. Great episode
Amazing interview today, Andrew Huberman was great he explained everything so well and so easily digestible. It also was amazing to hear that he skates it added that relatability to it. Great episode.
I've followed Huberman across different podcasts including his own and this is the most layed back I've ever seen him lol. I wish I could have a coffee or drinks with the guy! Cheers professor Huberman!
I didn´t even finished the podcast yet, but I insistently demand eiter a Part II or a Stop and Chat with @Andrew Huberman. I really feel like he had to pick and choose what he talks about. Feels like he has a very deep bag of knowledge that is of practical use
I used the exact term "conjoined" (I thought I misspelled it & upon seeing the correct spelling here, I know I did) on the Tom Seguro's "Two Bears One Cave" episode featuring Huberman. It was the first episode of that podcast I had ever watched....and it was the perfect fusion of two mutually respectful, interested people who are genuinely interested in one another. You might enjoy it as I did.
wow I am amazed to see a guy talk this much and at the same time all of it makes sense and its helpful for others. great show. filled my head with useful information
This is f*in awesome, absolutely love this guy. Listen to his podcasts often. Was so hyped when he dropped info on kneesovertoesguy as i've been incorporating his stuff recently. Andrew, you are brilliant, Nine Club this was a great listen, thank you.
Mad respect on the nine club for always keeping it 100 and this podcast specifically feels very professional already (only 45 mins in) compared to coming off the Don Brown episode hahahaha
This is going to be a great listen! If anyone else is interested in this dude he was on Joe Rogan as well. Finally finished! Phenomenal POD and very educational.
pffff... That´s so much relevant information. I´m really grateful for you guys @The Nine Club to get him on and really really grateful for you @Andrew Huberman to share all your wisdom with us. I felt like this episode will touch a lot of people, even though they might have never heard of the guest before.
When he said do something for 10 years if you wanna be really good at it, it spoke to me because I started skating around 19-20 and I always felt like I missed the stage where you get good enough to be a seasoned tasteful skater but I like to think about where I’ll be in 10 years if I stick to it cause I still have a lot of youth
I would really like him on the experience, i like his take on just skating in general. He’s very relatable and id enjoy to see his take on skateboarding today
My favorite Huberman episode/lessons yet.It was so fun to hear you in your element. Had no CLUE you were a skater. Amazing. What a talent you have for explaining some of the most complex systems in such an understandable mannerism. Thank you as always! Thank you everyone at The Nine Club. Brilliant!
Hey I cane here upon the recommendation of a person in the comment section of the "TB1C"/"Two Bears One Cave" podcast wherein Tom Seguro hosted Andrew Hubernan. I recommend THAT podcast episode which was, truthfully, the BEST interview of Andrew Huberman I have ever seen.
58:41 I immediately thought of Nyjah like no hate at all! He's an amazing skater obviously, but every time i see his clips.. they're not as exciting for lack of a better term. However when i see clips of like Deedz i get pumped cuz he just does unexpected tricks with a certain style i cant explain (again no hate on nyjah, hes a cool dude)
Wow! Being a scientist and skater myself, this episode has so much of what I was ever wondering about and pondering when skating, trying to understand why certain things are how they are, how to learn tricks, how to progress, how to keep a healthy mind at it, etc. I'll have to watch it again and again to memorize all the hidden treasures. Thank you so much to the old buddies for being amazing hosts and your incredible selection of guests. Thank you @Andrew Huberman for killing it. Immediately subscribed to your podcast, can't wait to get some dopamine shots waiting on your next episodes! PS: To whoever disliked this video: Neuroscience shows that you're going to get a drop in your dopamine level soon. And I'm gonna celebrate that :-P

subbed your channel. great stories!
Mitchell Park and Palo Alto CalTran station ledges all day son...also that skate shop inside that toy store in downtown Palo Alto. I forgot the name...maybe you remember.?. Great interview!
Thank you, Dr. Huberman!
quarter of the way through and I'm amazed at all the full names you remember.
The value of this podcast cannot go unnoticed. This guy is a nueroscientist that's also a skater. The perspective he's giving is just gold!
This guy spoke to me more then anyone on TH-cam has to date. This was the most interesting episode to me. I relate with him alot and everything he said made sense. This was a learning experience about myself more then anything. I wish he was my life coach. Thank you
If you follow Andrew's podcast, he pretty much becomes your life coach!
You're your life coach - Coach Frank
I learned way more than my teachers😭😭
Okl?... K!; Jj-
This is the one we've all been waiting for. Well done Nine club!
been listening to andrew for years, never knowing he had the skate background he did until the jenkem piece. crazy to hear him know so many people in the industry so casually, this was a perfect blending of worlds.
Very well said
@@hectorknoxx2724 fuckin same
One of the best episodes you've done! Thanks for having such a diversity of guests.
SO MUCH GOLD IN THIS ONE!
They are all gold i dont know how i just found out about this podcast
The only bad thing about this episode is that I have to wait til after work to watch the whole thing. First 20 mins were so good I nearly called in a personal day.

“When babies come out and there just flopping around like potato bugs..”
Crop: ya I hate when that happens
😂🤣😂🤣
We love Andrew Huberman and he must be protected.
This is incredible. One of my favorite episodes so far.
OMG. This is heaven. Skate + Science. Loved it
Couldn't of said it better myself.

As a former addict, I wrote that one down! 💯🙏
Wow is right. I read your comment earlier in the episode & just got to this timestamp. Immediately scrolled back down because I wanted to see if it was the same. Anyways, awesome quote.
Thats cool, John Vervaeke talks about this as well with the same terminology. Must be something concrete.
@@pnpsilver Yo I thought the same exact thing, Vervaeke breaks it down so well. I was amazed when I heard Andrew say that
@@colliemon ah yeah so I learned that the term " reciprocal narrowing" comes from PHD and Author Marc Lewis who erotr a book called Memoires of An Addicted Brain which is well recieved. Damn y’all have been coming with the heavy hitters lately! S/O to all the ol’ buddies
Dr. Huberman is such a class act. The world is crazy right now but were so fortunate to have exposure to guys like Andrew
so stoked that Dr Huberman came on the show. 2 of my favorite podcasts coming together
As a 4th year med student, neuro nerd, and avid nine club listener, this episode was amazing. Thanks Dr. Huberman, Crob, Dubs, and Kelly!
It’s beautiful to me to see and hear someone who came up in skateboarding and has it in their DNA do so much good for so many people. That drive to contribute is so deep and so powerful. Love this conversation and opening the show up to skaters like Andrew.

yo what the hell randomly found a clip of huberman on here and had to find the full thing, what an amazing combination of people to listen to
Been hoping and waiting for this. Thanks for not making us wait long at all!
Only halfway through and already feel smater and more motivated.
Next level guest. Really love listening to this dude.
I love the recurrence of the nollie heel
Crob is such an amazing host! He's just the perfect guy for this show.
My takeaway from this episode was "Be like Jeron"! Thanks Andrew, I'll try my best!
Damn, I'm gonna have to listen to this 1000x....so much to absorb
Now this is my favorite episode ever!!! I love fitness, gym, skating, healthy eating, science, etc… good job NINE CLUB!
Andrew Huberman and the Nine Club are the only two podcasts that I listen to and this is easily the greatest crossover on the internet.
I live in the same building as the owner of GX1000. We’re on the edge of the TL and Andrew Huberman is my favorite human being. I discovered him in JRE and now I only listen to Andrew. Thnx for the great conversation to all of you.

Hyped! The Nine Club delivers again 🧡🖤
number one episode of any podcast of all time
I think this is one of my favourite episodes you guys have done, Andrew is just fascinating to listen to. So much wisdom.
i listened to a 3-hour skate boarding podcast because of andrew huberman without any prior idea or interest in skateboarding and i enjoyed it :)
This is by far the Nine Club episode that I learned the most out of all of them, maybe side by side with Paul Schmitt´s. And what I learned will for sure benefit my life!!
I need to watch this twice and take notes. Some of these tips are straight gold
