I concur with Ndii that political stability is key to everything else. Indeed, Kibaki failed to manage politics, But the problem is not necessarily the loser not accepting but the incumbent manipulating and even using fraudulent means to "win" by all means. And it is basically neo_colonial.

The budget will never be balanced without getting rid of atleast 30% of civil servants and and atleast 80% of parastatals and 60% of county government workers. The remainder must accept a reduced salary (the top 30%) of atleast 25%. Kenya must reach a point where government work is not the dream of every youth.

Ndii is a respected Economist and he is saying all the things we want to hear. However, I disagree with him that we should bring in Arab Countries to assist us to grow food. What we should do is to open up the Rangelands and the semi arid areas and grow food; the soya beans, the maize, beans, cassava and high value crops such as vanilla, black pepper, saffron and other rare spices that will fetch us a fortune from China and other spice junkies of this world.
