Despite Super Eagles Failure, Finidi George Land A New Job At Rivers United

Former Super Eagles and Enyimba International coach, Finidi George, is set to become the head coach of NPFL side, Rivers United. According to a post by Trendy Faith, the media officer of Rivers Angels, the 53-year-old will be unveiled on Thursday.
Finidi, who previously coached the Super Eagles, left his position after a disappointing run in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Despite the setback, he quickly secured a new role with Rivers United, following a meeting with the club’s owner and Rivers state governor, Sim Fubara.
Rivers United hopes Finidi’s appointment will help them bounce back from a challenging season, as they aim to reclaim their position at the top of Nigerian football. Finidi brings with him a wealth of experience, including a recent NPFL championship with Enyimba International.
In related news, former Super Eagles winger Emmanuel Amunike might take over as head coach of Heartland FC, while Belgian coach Marc Brys is rumored to be a contender for the vacant Super Eagles position.
