I'm the same way! Natural hair is so beautiful and Ive learned a lot about taking time to maintain what hair you have and actually take care of it vs. a lazier approach like I used to have.

I just wanna say that I'm really happy that you use a comb to detangle! So many hair channels are like "I don't use a comb, you can just finger detangle. Its better if you dont use any combs"

Your hair is SO beautiful! I live in a small town where it has been near impossible to find a stylist who knows how to work with textured hair. Was trying to help a friend find someone who is comfortable working with her hair + we couldn’t find someone. I’m mixed, Dominican and Colombian, so I don’t really know much about natural hair since my hair is wavy-curly (2b/3a) but my mom on the other hand has type 4 hair and I recently got her to start embracing her texture so I big chopped her hair and now I’m watching all these videos to help her out since she doesn’t know how to care for it either because of all the years relaxing her hair, I’m excited to see my moms journey, thank you for making these videos girly!🥰

Yo. Only moisturiser i use is shea butter. I'm too broke for products
@@marrieabba3607 there are many cheap and good alternatives. Look up some that some naturals have tried. Buy it and see if it works. Some would include Aussie moist, Africans pride, creme of nature. I haven't tried all of those but I know somw naturals who would say that their good.
Of you have low porosity hair, I would suggest the LOC method, which is leave in conditioner, an oil like argan oil, Then a cream like she's butter :)

Why do you apply oils before conditioner if oil and water don't mix? Shouldn't the oil be used as a sealant after the conditioner? Wont the oil block the conditioner?
Jannell Duncan yeah I was thinking that. I apply oil after my I add conditioner. I've never tried it the other way. May work for her. I dunno lol
Jannell Duncan Hey 👋🏾 think of it as a hot oil treatment. the deep conditioning helps warm up the oil & penetrate the strands for added moisture/nourishment. This was the method used when I visited Jaded tresses salon and my hair responded well
Valerie Ann yea same here my hair feels coated but soft but not truly moisturized if I use an oil first.
i think of it as similar to using the LOC method that most naturals use to moisturize their hair. I've actually been using the oil then conditioner method when washing my hair recently and I love it
Kerece Crawford yea a lot of people love that method but it's not as good for me as the LCO method. The cream can't penetrate my hair after I apply an oil. It feels soft to the touch and manageable but I know my hair isn't getting as much moisture as applying the cream and then the oil to seal both the liquid AND the cream in
Chizi one youtuber with 4c hair recommended not finger detangling. I do a little finger detangling but I use a wide to other comb and a detangling moisturizer. I see that you do both. Not knocking what anyone is doing (if it works for you then keep doing it) but I see that some TH-camrs say that they only finger detangle and when they use a comb all of this hair comes out. But is a lot of hair coming out because finger detangling doesn't get all of the shed hair out?
Dareese Hinds I have 4c hair and I must use a wide tooth combination to detangle, otherwise it never gets truly detangled. As for losing hair - we naturally lose about 150 strands a day, so as long as the shedding doesn't seem excessive, I think it's all good... I tried finger detangling only for a while and it was a disaster.

Yesss queen! The results were amazing! I'm so glad I found you, definitely encouragement that mine and your 4c hair grows! I'm almost done transitioning! I've had a love affair with relaxers but my dermatologist told me it was time to cut it out lol, so I've been seeing more info about how to care for my hair ❤️
2 tips:
-You only need to condition the ends of your hair.
-To better condition your hair, after putting the conditioner on your hair & letting it sit (deep condition) for 30 minutes, use a steamer or the steam for the shower to let the steam hit the paper bag for a better deep condition. It does wonders!!!

Finally my hair type!! I use to be so confused because I thought I had 4C till I added tons of moisture. I’m definitely 4a in the very back of my hair. But I’m so thick at the middle to top of my head it takes forever to add definition. Thanks so much for showing me how to deal with my hair
