Senegal launches Sub-Saharan Africa's first all-electric Bus Rapid Transit network

Senegal’s Bus Rapid Transit network consists of 121 buses capable of ferrying 300,000 passengers between fourteen of the capital's most densely populated districts in a sustainable way. President Macky Sall hailed the project saying it can have a major impact on Dakar's economy and environment.

Les transports publics en Nouvelle-Zélande sont étonnamment médiocres.
La capitale ne dispose pas d'un système de bus rapides. Il dispose d'un système de bus très simple.

Ok great, but were the buses manufactured by Uganda's Kiira Motors? If not, how much benefit does the BRT system really bring to Africa?

Looking into it was constructed by China Road and Bridge Corporation the charging management will be done by CarMedialab a German company and the whole company is called Dakar Mobilité which is owned by Meridiam a French company (70%) and FONSIS (30%), Senegal's sovereign fund. Furthermore, the buses are Chinese. This is an absolute disgrace least of all they could have given the buses to Kiira Motors and the charging management to an African-owned company. The money will come from tax payers the same thing happened with the Dakar train.

Africans don’t own any Intellectual property. How can you manufacture anything without the proper how to? Why is that so hard to understand? Africans struggle is directly attributed to its lack of accountability, knowledge and leadership. A very incompetent continent. You guys need to thank the Chinese like they’re your gods because they’re bringing you people into the new age. Without the Chinese Africans would still be poor for the next 200 years under European grips with little to no development

Well, billions of their money will be transferred to the manufacturers of the electric buses abroad. Not only that, but the manufactures will also have a ready market in their country for spare parts and above all more buses in the foreseeable future. In the end, they may turn to "Uganda's Kiira Motors," with locally made and therefore cheaper buses than importing them from abroad. It is just a matter of time.

Vous parlez pour une question de fond et de rentabilité
Nous d'abord ce qui nous préoccupe le plus c'est le gain de temps,la réduction de la pollution,la réduction des pertes annuelle dû aux embouteillages plus 100 milliards par ans,le malades qui pourront rejoindre plus rapidement le centre ville,les étudiants, commerçants, étudiants...
Le Brt est fait pour les gens qui n'ont pas la possibilité d'acheter leur propre voiture pour aller vite
Sans parler des emplois qu'il a créé,sa beauté et son côté végétation qui orne la ville de Dakar Sénégal
