  • Van Runs Blind Railroad Crossing With Train Coming! 2 Trains Passing With DPUs Shoving. Union Pacific Locomotives On Norfolk Southern Mixed Freight In Lockland, Ohio. Railroad Diamonds With CSX Auto Racks In Marion, Ohio. 6 Trains In Ohio Including CSX Grain Train On Norfolk Southern.
I came to Lockland, Ohio to get some trains due to a viewer request. I found a railroad crossing in town that is on a curve. Trees block the view when driving in a westerly direction over the two tracks. The first train is a northbound NS local with a single locomotive running long hood forward. Look how many cars this engine is pulling by itself! Then a couple hours later another train approaches the crossing on the other track running northbound. The lights were flashing, bell ringing and gates starting to lower when a van went on through. Didn't appear to be a Railfan. Lol.
Then I changed locations in Lockland to a railroad crossing next to a historic building. I heard a train approaching on 160.980 so I thought it was a northbound train since the signal had just changed to green on one of the tracks. A southbound train showed up on the other track. While it was going by a northbound train came across the crossing with foreign power. Both trains had a locomotive on the rear. One of the trains that I heard on the radio was train 178 but I'm not sure which one it was. Leave a comment below if you know. This is only my third time in Lockland.
I waited for over 2 and half hours with nothing coming so I included a CSX auto racks train hitting the diamonds in Marion, Ohio. That was a cool train and I never posted it so here it is. I didn't think I would see any more trains in Lockland.
Right when I gave up and left a CSX grain train popped up. There is a nearby line in Wyoming, Ohio that is CSX and I thought the train was on that line. Thats why you don't want to have too many frequencies in your scanner. CSX uses 160.230 to call the signals out on the nearby Toledo Sub and both lines use 452.9375 for End Of Train Device. Yes, there are other frequencies that you can use on these lines but I only use the frequencies that the trains call the signals out on and that the defect detectors are on. Otherwise you get too much chatter and don't know what is going on. The grain train that I filmed from my truck was on its way to Queensgate Yard in Cincinnati.
I was in Lockland from 11am until almost 5pm and caught 5 trains. That was pretty good. There is a house just south of Lockland in Arlington Heights that you can rent like a bed and breakfast. The last train, the CSX grain train, was filmed just a couple of doors north of it. I plan on renting that for a couple of nights to find out how many trains pass through this area. I will be making a video of that soon so keep tuned in.
Filmed Thursday, July 13, 2023 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

Once the crossing lights start flashing that is just like a red light ..Also I used to get called to the crossings when the people who went around the gate paid with their lives and their children's lives sometimes.

When the traffic lights turn red, or the lights come on at the railroad crossing, it’s assumed by some people that they have a few seconds to run the light. And it’s assumed that it’s all okay as long as they don’t get caught. But when they do get caught they are very sorry about getting caught. You just can’t fix stupid. Not even with duct tape.

That first train you showed was pretty impressive... a single engine pulling quite a long load... I was positive there was going to be a DCU somewhere there when it started getting a little long, like the 3rd train had hidden behind the 4th train, which also had a DCU. Ah, and you made the same observation... the first train did have a lot of cars for one locomotive, that's for sure. And in contrast the second train had two engines and it wasn't very long, as you pointed out also... ha! Nice bonus train and last bonus train as you were leaving. Good clip of the pup and the cat (escaping the pup?) in the tree by Lillia. The pup has striking eyes!
PS: Loved the old building that still looks to be in use... 1875 and very well built.

I hope you don't mind, Señor Jaws. But I've been inserting commas, semicolons, periods and the like into the description you write for the video. It helps me to possibly make sense of the 'what's upcoming'. So, for today, I got the Blind Railroad, outta Lockland, Ohio, is crossing there with a runner. Who knows why? I won't even go there. Too much thinking involved. Imagine my consternation then, if for example, you'd feature The Sees Better Railroad with its consist outta Seymour, Ohio crossing a bridge with a senior citizen using a walker. I may hafta even re-write that one to make sense of it. You're doin' an outstanding job, though. Gracias por tu video. RT sends, Puebla, México...

My cousin was hit by a train, out in the country many years ago before signals & no brush clearings at the crossings, yes TG he survived, he thinks it was because it was a tall truck & that his foot got hung up in his steering wheel, but he was hanging out upside down & his head was very close to the tracks for quite a distance until the train got stopped.
He had no way to see the train coming! If he'd got out of his truck to listen & then look, it probably would've nailed him since there was so much overgrowth & his truck engine noise! Needless to say, after that accident & many complaints from before his accident, the area was finally cleared, but not maintained😮
Those old take a life chance RR signs at the crossings were scary!
Respect those flashing red lights & long arms of the law! 😊

In Iron Mtn. MI the downtown crossings have lights but no gates and is a no horn zone. This past week two sets of crossing lights weren't working so the conductor got out ahead of the engine to stop traffic. Runners in this area are the norm, and so are collisions. Fortunately, the trains go slow. I like the WFRX engine painted in Halloween colors.

While no train was super long a lot of quirky little cars in them. First train near the front had a centerbeam lettered GACX and just before the UP DPU on train 4 is a GACX covered Hopper made especially for carbon black. Back to train 1 a TCIX tank car with the reporting marks in white paint but the number is yellow paint indicating that it began Life as a UTLX. car but apparently the shop didn't have yellow paint. Train.2 had an oldie covered Hopper now marked PMRX but you can still see the words S OO Line. If you look at the uneven rust near the top you can tell this car received quite a bit of TLC to repair sideswipe damage. Train 4 boasted a TILX 3 dome 3 separate tank inside which is not a common design. Note the 3 hazmat plackards. Toss in the mobile. Wells Fargo WFRX branch office locomotive add another greatJT tape is in the books and on your screen

I couldn’t see the trains on the blind curve for some reason!

That first train in the video is very interesting to me because it has every feature of being a local, but pulled with a modern 6-axle GE. The reason I say that is because I was in Baxley, GA today and, while eating lunch at the local Burger King (right on the NS tracks), a local train of eight or ten cars of long-length logs passed through town being yanked by a 6-axle GE. Interesting. Are 6-axle GE's the newest locals and switchers on the NS?? Actually, I hope not; I miss the variety of engines...........

I think the bigger railroads like NS and cSX are losing their 4 axle locos. Thats what I have noticed. They keep selling them off to short lines

Was that a Wells Fargo Railway locomotive on the 3rd train? All foreign power including DPU. Great locations today. Nothing sounds better than those diamonds being hit...

Arcade & Attica's new locomotive arrived Thursday afternoon, you have about 3 weeks before they get it in service and the center cabs stop being used in regular freight service.

What defect detector do you use? I live on the Florida East Coast, trying to track down FEC trains.

Glad you had fun in Lockland. Hope you can be back again hopefully by summer ends, I was at the sugar shack at the time the grain train came by. And that place in Arlington Heights is called 🚂 Close to Everything @ Arlington Station 🚉. It’s 165 a night
