Monticello Minnesota. Our cabelas would have probably triple the weapons mentioned here. Real early in an apocalypse places like that will be a war zone of living against living.
Good story, but the first zombie, how was that killed as it was outside and shot from within the store with a crossbow. The glass was at that point still in place.
Good catch, I just wanted to add a zombie kill into the story before people got too bored and clicked off, I was just having a B movie moment at the time.
A crossbow will shoot through a deers shoulder blade and travel all the way through and exit the other side. Probably could penetrate glass that is already cracked.
This would be one of the easiest places to survive for a long time in a zombies scenario. At until the criminals and desperate attacked it for resources.
If I have to be stuck in a random place away from home or a safe house, there’s few better spots than a Cabelas. Guns, ammo, knives, bow and arrows, machetes, jerky, bottled water, flashlights, light body armor, camo, generators, etc.
cool story listening to it from georgia here and i kind of felt bad for emily and cabelas is a decent place to hold up during the begining of the zombie apocolypse
Great Story. They had a good plan, but didn't think it though enough. Cabela's doesn't sell Suppressors, so the primary weapon used at first to thin the heard should have been Crossbows. And Emily is one of the weak. And you often can't save weak people. Because the Weak Shall Perish!
Idk, have you seen the 1990s night of the living dead? They revamped Barbra, the female doctor in the day of the dead bloodline movie, I have plenty of more examples
A high end neighborhood with stone walls might be your best bet. Zombies in all the stories don't seem to be able to climb. Block the main gate with buses and maybe a bulldozer or garbage truck and you should be good. Richer neighborhood should have more food, extra water, and guns/ammo.
Florida likes the stories but wishes the employees in this one watched some old Day of the Dead, Romero flicks and used cars to block the front doors and windows. Still a better story than most of the new zombie movies
Agreed, much better than a lot of the ones put out. Easier to get away with the fantasy if it’s not state specific or site specific where you can easily pick it apart. A national chain is perfect for a smaller scale story like this.
I was surprised at having to unlock the crossbow from a case however, I did forget that this is Oregon, here in Tennessee you wouldn’t have to do that🤣🤣🤣
My hometown is Joshua Texas but I live outside of town in the county called Johnson county if you could do a story about someone surviving out in the country that would be awesome
Not a Cabela's but for over about 2 decades following my love of the Resident Evil games, the local Scheel's sporting goods store was the beginning/first temporary place during an outbreak, for my at that time young imagination.
Thank you for sharing your story! It’s amazing how video games can inspire our thoughts and creativity, especially during a zombie apocalypse scenario!
I use AI to create the photos. I can't afford to pay an artist, and I can't draw. I'm also trying not to get sued by some company that's bored and can bury me.
Emily let panic overrule logic and reason. Its true we're human but its clear that not of us are survivors. Folk can be saved from an assailant, but they cannot be rescued from their own stupidity. As such as harsh as it is - can't say she didn't deserve her fate. She made a choice, the wrong one and she had to pay for it dearly. Lancashire, UK btw
I wish people in more stories would get the power tools they definitely have in that store and screw all the flat metal shelves over all entrances and windows 🪟 that would definitely bring added protection

I caught that too. Just had to try going with it, lol

Magic glass! Best type of glass during the zombie apocalypse!

What happened to the customers in the store? No mention of them.
If you can't survive in a Cabela's what good would a single house do for you?

Post Apocalypse California here.

Thanks for listening
What happened to the other customers that were in the store with them?
How come they just couldn’t use their own vehicles?
The others turned into zombies, and the ones that survived were not really part of the story.
I thought this exact same thing

Thank you for your feedback! I’m glad you enjoyed the story, and you make a great point about those classic tactics.

What happened to the customers that got stuck inside with the staff? No mention of them after the initial few minutes.
A couple turned into zombies but the rest survived, I just focused on the main characters and decided not to kill off every sub character.
