I went to Colorado State University in Fort Collins. Lived there many years, 3 blocks walk from campus.
Funny that you mention what you did. There is a brand new medical center on campus. New additions to the Human Performance Laboratory and Clinical Institute. Just a couple of years old. And all that open property under the large animal Veterinary Hospital. Along with the agricultural genetics laboratory... who knows what is under those new buildings that is easily purposed for more human issues.

@@kontrarien5721 Lots of possibilities as yet that use an infection that was meant for entirely different things that went sideways. So far this has a certain feel of like the Forced Evolutionary Virus from Fallout. Fallout also has an entire section of the story about Eldritch entities that were perhaps behind the entire war. He does talk about spores, which could be a plant or fungus. What sound like Wendigos, skin walkers. Definitely does not seem like the standard zombie plague story though.
I gathered, from hearing just the first 3 parts it was a infection that has somehow evolved in not only intelligence as mentioned in part one with the raido host mentioning how they went from shuffling aimlessly, to preforming ambushes and guarding places.
And evolved physically. As part two mentions the various stories of various appearances and the story/locations they reside.
