      Yeah, they are trying. That joke,about The Police man asking why his wife is in such a state ! With him explaining her various accidents !
      I think that most German people have, a tongue in cheek humour. Where, actually. The joke is, how casual they are about some horrendous crime !
      Or perhaps behaving in an unacceptable way in a blundering , clumsy way yet still determined in their determination to reach a goal .

    I just took my 17 year old Discovery 3 down to the fields to check a newly planted crop. A guy who lives in our village is a recently retired LR Director (only 50 something years old!). I told him that when I get home, I will watch this video and I will forward it to him. I am sure he going to enjoy it.
    He then said that the Discovery 3 was a huge landmark for LR, so good that they should still be making that same vehicle today. Which makes me smile that he arrived at the field in a one year old Defender!
    Anyway guys, keep up the good work. You are doing it all right!
    I especially love the idea of the frame and jockey wheels to mount the body on work on the underside, without occupying your 2 post lift.
    PS, IMO every Discover, RRS and RR should use a maximum of 18” rims for a more comfortable, less bumpy ride on badly maintained roads.

    • @MarkSpohr
      @MarkSpohr ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Disco 3 was their big transition from Disco 2 "rock crawler" to "mall crawler". Too bad they didn't keep the Defender Disco2 suspension. Also, it appears that they made a lot of complicated "enhancements" to the vehicle leading to multiple failures (as well documented by LRTIME).

    • @samrodian919
      @samrodian919 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes I almost agree with you lol I have a 4.2 Supercharged Overfinch Range Rover it was running 285-35ZR-22's and the ride was frankly bloody awful ! I got a secondhand set of Pirelli Scorpion M+S 255-55's on 19" rims and it transformed the ride completely. I don't do crazy speeds these days as I'm getting too old so the "Lesser" grip tyres are no problem and on wet grass I can actually get where I want to go!

    • @MarkSpohr
      @MarkSpohr ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@samrodian919 Yes, the 255 width tires are just right. Those big fat tires are only good for show and make for squirrelly handling.

    • @Dave5843-d9m
      @Dave5843-d9m ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Big rims and rubber band tyres are all about show. The ride is horrible, they buckle easily, the vehicle can’t use the (allegedly better) grip. Just NO.

I had to send you this message as I found you both to be extremely happy with each other and your lives together along with your sons.. I was a mechanic to trade and its great to see you making tools to help carry out the various projects for your own cars and those of your friends.. Both of you are extremely kind and generous and wish you everything that you would wish for yourselves. I only wish your hobby was for BMW 640D's.. 😂. Great Blacksmithing and bike tricks from your younger son. Wishing you and your family continued health & happiness.

    Hi folks. I studied Chemistry and thought of Land Rovers. Because we learned that things should be engineered with, metals the same. Iron with iron. Yet, The Land Rover used to have a Aluminium body.
    So, it's nice to see a couple working with their baby, as a car is like a baby to some people, I heard.
    I wonder if the body is still Aluminium or are modern Land Rovers steel ?
    What a complex machine and really an incredible achievement to own this amazing thing .
    My only tip is to wear gloves and beware of stupid mistakes in British Engineering.

    I have watched the past 3 videos keeping my thoughts to myself, I think christan has done a excellent job on doing jobs that most land rover owners will never do this takes skills , know how and a good memory, even tho taking photos can still leave you confused, what I did notice with lr4 engine overhaul was how clean and new everything looked the previous owner must never driven it on bad weather and I noticed how clean christan work space was I am known to set down tools and get grows feet I can't find it when I just had the tool in my hand 😮 now I can see the difference on a well driven lr3 I know vera so happy to be getting a engine overhaul I hope you never get rid of the lr3 it's has a 6 speed manual I wish I had in my lr3 even tho I just had my transmission rebuilt I still have a transmission fault, when I get home I will remove battery and check my transmission/ Transfer Case Control Module TCM , to see if and
    corrosion I'm hoping of dose to end this drama and the wires on passenger side door trim area , this is simple fixes , sorry vera I know you seen my upgraded tail lights from a lr4 but I am not making my lr3 a lr4 my lr3 is white it about enhances the looks in a black & white theme , this part for christan I just installed my snorkel and like you 3 holes become hard to drill thru but with a different drill bit I was able to without touching the airbag inside, I have a new tool I love by Milwaukee tools it's a battery operated Rivet gun wow what a game changer now I want to Rivet everything well worth the money 💰 🤑 I only wish Milwaukee made battery operated nut insert tool soon I installing my defender ladder and storage box on side of land rover and replacing btake lines that are rusty and broke off anyway good job christan & camera girl vera c u next Domingo

    Wow, this is a great show. Just a tip: When restoring the body work, use a rust converter as this will get to any unseen hole that have the potential to restart the rust process from underneath the new primer and top paint, you can if you want to remove this new layer but most rust converters are also like a primer coat. Still think you should extend the filming time as some people are not sure how to use a spanner, i.e. Toyota drivers. Looking forward to the next video.

    Most impressive, this will be an interesting project. One brand new "Christianised" LR 3 coming up after the laying on of hands.

    This promises to be another very interesting series, I really like the way you two work as team, I have no doubt at all that if that was a Mercedes you would have broken anything that was made of plastic, "they seem to design it to break" they have a special ABS mix, it's Absolute Bloody Shite and found a LOT more rust. don't ask me how I know.

    I'm curious to see the rust status of the frame and underbody, especially considering all the problems the earlier LR's have with rotten chassis. What could be seen in this video looks good.

    I know from the beginning that I will enjoy these videos, as always looking forward to the next episode. l have a friend with a Discovery 3 of a similar age as this one that has had very few problems with, the only one l can think of is a faulty handbrake, his is a manual version which seems quite rare.

    It doesn't matter how you decide to take a body off it is your choice, on my classic Austin club members say drop the engine down & get it out from underneath, i use a crane & lift it out from the top, it's my choice no one elses & it's not any harder the way i do it

    Apologies for missing a couple of episodes; I’ll catch up with a binge watch session shortly.
    Just enjoyed this episode with a nice mug of hot chocolate and a few fruit shortcake biscuits, what with it being Spring Bank Holiday.

    I think the big rebuilds are what you do best. I'm very much looking forward to watching this projet.
    BTW, it would be very interesting to see you for a full restoration on one of the older 'traditional' Land rovers at some point.
    Best of luck with your project but I think you both make your own good luck.

      Watch (Gavin) "Foreman and Wilms" (Sumer Wilms) for a very humorous rebuild of an old Landie.

    I am very excited about this project, would be good learning material for me. In few years I want to do the same for my disco 3 2007. I want to keep my car forever hence overhaul would be required.

    I was hoping that you would move onto the Disco 3 after the engine rebuild on the Disco 4. Excellent content as always - keep up the great work.
