Don’t apologise for being there. Those of us who perhaps could not afford to do it ourselves are thoroughly enjoying your trip vicariously. Thank you for sharing. In a world where there is more than enough sad and bad stuff, your wonderful enthusiasm for cycling and life is an absolute tonic for us all.
Good seeing the vintage bikes. I joined the Cyclists Touring Club in 1985 and started riding on a heavy Raleigh Alpha Sport. Saved up and in 1986 bought a Raleigh Granada handbuilt touring bike costing £220. It came with a signed card and photo from the man who built it in the Raleigh Specialized Lightweight Unit, which also built racing bikes. It had Reynolds 531st main tubes and 531 forks, which gave a nice responsive springy ride. Both bikes also had 27 inch wheels before 700c became standard from the early 1990s.
Steel is real ! I ride an ancient Olmo as well as a 1980 Pinarello. You can keep your aluminium and carbon fibre !! Steel has elegance and style, as well as durability.
Now those are proper bikes 😊. I had a steel Mercian made for my 50th birthday a few years ago, and had bosses put on the downtube incase I wanted old skool gear levers. I must say, I am tempted to fit them now.
Too much fun!!!!! Riding the Bikeasaurus Rex with squeezee brakes and the giant tube pump. My first road bike had shifters on the down tube…and I had never heard of bluetooth. Haha. However, if you wanted to shift from big to little you just cranked that lever and smashed the pedals.
Blast from the past old school bikes. I used to ride 53/39 with 11/23 cassette as a kid and got up all hills local to me in North Yorkshire. How times have changed. I puff and pant on small hills now with a dinner plate rear cassette. Saying that i was about 5 stone lighter but I still love it and that’s what it’s all about. Superb video again 👏👏👏
It was amazing!! Ohhh Richmond park is fab we were there on Sunday for the first time, TH-cam vid of that our next week - couldn’t believe how many deer there were!
What an ENORMOUS ice cream at 3:25! I'm impressed with your ability to eat it all - and that goodness knows what at 6:38 looks really healthy and probably very tasty indeed! I'd love a plateful. Maybe I need breakfast?
Life is a dream Amy, so make it a beautiful one doing what you love. Cute look in the sundress. Good to see Kyle eating something other than pizza LOL. I am loving this trip and videos. I see more adventures coming, so prepare to be mind blown in a lovely way Amy. Crazy cool swag tin! The jig at the end was spot on perfect. I can't wait to see the next one. TTFN and keep spreading that good energy around.
Miss Amy, Glad to see both you and Kyle are still having fun. The open air market looked like a grand place to shop. I would be broke leaving there. Kyle rocks the old school bikes like a champ. I say you should get him one for the holidays. Looking forward to your next post. Enjoy!!!!!!!!
It looks fantastic, another great vid, Cols mate's sandwich looked massive, did he eat it all!!!It just goes to prove what the cycling community/companies think of the pair of you. Fantastic and well deserved
If was bùilding your house you might think why is he off riding around in Italy living the life? But got to take what you can. Still he did get some time studying Renaissance masonry
Flicking your foot into the clip becomes second nature after a few Weeks practise. Some guys used to weight the back of pedal so it tipped to level up easier. Some of the paintwork jobs on the classic frames really are desirable. Think ahead a bit more as well with down shifters if new to them if the course is tricky up and down etc. Should be good fun if a little dusty :)
wonderful news that our baby Amy Malones&Kyle Earl of Sandwich have arrived at the home of cycling !!! u will see that Italy is not Mallorca, where all the 2ordinary people goes for cycling !!! by the way,our Kyle always on a fantastic Sandwich top form !!!
Have you ever thought of just how Italian your word ‘milones’ sounds? It must be of Roman origin, and I wonder what the is the equivalent Italian is for ‘Blummin eck’?
In many ways, the modern bike industry has gone too far. Index gear shifting with levers in the brake hoods was designed for the benefit of sprinters, although I do see a benefit in having hands near both gears and brakes on rough surfaces at all times. I haven't tried electric gear shifting, but it strikes me as being a solution to a problem that nobody actually has. If you're out on an extended bike tour, you want simplicity and ease of maintenance. Where will you be if you charger packs up in the middle of the outback?... In the outback... forever.

Now those are proper bikes 😊.
I had a steel Mercian made for my 50th birthday a few years ago, and had bosses put on the downtube incase I wanted old skool gear levers. I must say, I am tempted to fit them now.
When i started cycling there was only downshifters.
Wow, pretty great adventure. Love the classic wool jerseys.
Are they wool? Merino maybe hmm
@@KleineJoop looking at the drape and the apparent weight of the fabric, they look strikingly similar to the quality wool jerseys I used to wear.
Amy is the front brake on the opposite side to what you have on your bikes in the UK Just Remember if it is Have a great ride tomorrow Ciao

Same here - the gearing we used to ride would never catch on today. And I always loved climbing & descending the hills around here in the SF Bay Area.
Mine was a 14-19 as a junior
Total RESPECT for Kyle after he said " He couldn't wear the gloves with the rainbow colours" because he had not earned them Ciao
Yes just ingu it 😺👍
Great to see you have success and continued fun riding!
Love your nails Amy , and Kyle is really getting into the vintage vibe with his Bianchi cap ! Can't wait for tomorrow's episode !!
Thank you for watching!
It looks a lovely trip.
I am not sure 16 miles around Richmond park on my commuter bike is the best preparation.
It was amazing!! Ohhh Richmond park is fab we were there on Sunday for the first time, TH-cam vid of that our next week - couldn’t believe how many deer there were!
Kyle always has the right idea.
The stew is called Risotto 😂

Great video, really interesting and vintage cycles look fantastic, takes me back to my youth when you made a racer from parts found in the woods.

Have you ever thought of just how Italian your word ‘milones’ sounds? It must be of Roman origin, and I wonder what the is the equivalent Italian is for ‘Blummin eck’?
Did it take youlong to get used to the brakes as I understand that European bikes have the brakes reversed compared to UK bikes.
Yes they're the opposite way around but you get used to it quite quickly
4 = Quattro. Quattrocento is 400
