I find my stock audio decent. The bass and highs are good. Its a bid lacking in the mid range. But I think changing the 4 inch dash speaker would do the trick for me.
The tear down should be very similar if not completely the same. From what I have seen the Prado door panels and front corner and tweeter grills look the same. I have used some Prado parts for other mods and everything bolted up perfect and did not have issues with clearance.
First thanks for making a video of your install I always like to see content like this. Now I have to be "that" guy. I don't understand how you wired the Morel component speakers in. Did you use the crossovers that came with the Morel speakers? If so what signal wires did you use to wire it? The factory system has a crossover built into the amp that is low pass to the door speakers and high pass to the dash speakers. How did you account for this ? I have the JBL concert series 421f in my dash and was wondering if the kicker 4' speakers would be any better. Do you like the kicker speakers sound ? How does your system sound now ?
I won’t pretend to be an audio expert, so feel free to be “that” guy if it will help others. I did not use the cross over that came with the Morel kit. From what I recall the tweeters get their signal from the 4” corner speakers versus a dedicated channel off the amp. The factory tweeters also have their own capacitor that I assumed acted as an additional high pass filter. I installed 5000hz “bass blockers” (link below) to provide, what I believed, would be better clarity for the tweeters. I’ve been very pleased with the performance of both the Morels and Kickers, especially since I’m still using the factory amp. I don’t have any experience with other aftermarket speakers. www.crutchfield.com/p_007BB5000/Crutchfield-Bass-Blockers.html
Looking forward to an update on verdict after the replacement. Was it worth it? I have a 23 with the base audio system and I’m looking for upgrade options.
It is definitely an improvement over base audio system. Mids and highs are very clear with the component tweeter and the 2-way corner speakers. Bass is full but not overpowering. The non-ML does not have a dedicated subwoofer so that is probably the limiting variable. I did not replace the rear door speakers, but after seeing the improvements with these and the relative ease of installation, those will be next.
No, I’m coming from the base sound system offered on the GX. The Mark Livinson sound system that is optional has the subwoofer in the rear quarter panel.
Sorry I guess I missed capturing the actual soldering of the Bass Blockers to the new tweeters. Starting at 37:49 is when I show segments of the progress of the tweeters. If I recall correctly, I forgot to put heat shrink on the connection, so I redid it off camera 😢 Essentially I retained the fact bracket and harness. I cut the factory wire as close to the original capacity since it is not very long. The Bass Block I used is then just soldered inline or in series with the original harness connector and new tweeter. You will have more wire slack since the bass blocker is larger than the original capacitor. I just used Tessa Tape to secure it inside the A Pillar. Hope that helps clarify, sorry I did not capture it more clearly in the video
Great video thanks! My front left speaker is blown out and this helped me immensely
I'm here before you blow up. Thank you for the GX460 content!
Thank you! I don’t know if I’ll ever blow up but I hope to share more useful GX460 content!

How's the quality after the upgrade? Looking to do the same!!
Helpful. I got Prado a 150 and exact same. So anyone can use this video for 2018-2023 Land Cruiser Prado 150. It's Lexus GX Toyota twin.

Did i miss the tweeter wiring portion? How did you wire into the oem harness for the tweeters?
