Not a 151 break. A score of 151 is not the same thing. The referee calls the break as 147
The actual maximum break possible is 155, a free ball, then black ball, then 15 reds, 15 blacks and all the colours totalling 155. It has been done before, in witnessed practice sessions, but never yet televised.
In October 2004, during qualifying for the UK Championship, Jamie Burnett became the only player to record a break of more than 147 in tournament play, when he scored 148 against Leo Fernandez. He took the brown as the free ball, then potted the brown again followed by the 15 reds with 12 blacks, two pinks and a blue, then the six colours
Brilliant. These lads must have nerves of steel to make a 147. I panic when I get to 12. 🤣👍
Alex Higgins made a 155 decades ago, it wasn't in a tournament but a couple of ppl have made 155 in practice.
Wally West made a 151 break vs Dereck "Butch" Rogers at a club handicap competition witnessed by some 100 people. I knew both of these guys personally from back in the late 80's.
Nobody cares at all
@@LCFCV9Go troll elsewhere.
Maximum break is 155, you start by getting a black ball on a free ball.
I never knew that was possible! I would have thought a scratch or hitting the pink would put you to 151-154.. my head only wraps the easy way lol. I guess then it wouldn’t be an actual break though would it!?
Just a math thing eh? How would you ever get a free ball with all the balls still in play?
@@kenmcferran5482snookered behind a colour or can’t hit red on both sides of ball
@@kevinbeach8915the foul doesn’t count towards the break ,the break would start after the foul
@@kevinbeach8915 If I understand it correctly a player commits a foul, perhaps misses a red or inadvertently hits a color first, then leaves the ball in a position where the other player has no clear shot to a red ball, free ball. He gets 4 points for the foul which would not count towards the break. He then begins his break with making a colored ball as his free ball and then the black, he now has 8 points with all the reds still available to his break. He runs the break with all black balls and ends up with his 8 points from the free ball plus the 147 from the red/black pots giving him 155 for the break while his game score would be 159 adding in the 4 point foul.
Merci toujours un plaisir de vous voir jouer
The highest ever break in the pro tour is 149, unfortunately it wasn't televised.
This is not 151 break, but a 147
Fred Davis made two 155 breaks
Cliff Thorburn did this almost 40 years ago at the World Championship
really I do NOT REMEMBER Cliff doing that NOT that he couldn't he's Cliff Thorburn
@@user-db2kl8bj1j Google it, he had the first Maxie in The world championship, also his first red {following a foul} was a fluke. Met him a few times here in Sudbury{might need to google that as well😄}
Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, oi, oi, oi.
Another clickbait. The break is 147
Mink was given 6 away by her opponant hitting the pink on break off she then went on to a 147 btreak making 153 break
A foul committed by your opponent DOES NOT contribute to your break. It adds to your final score, but not to your break. That was only a 147 break.
Wonder what happened to him, he was in top 3 until a couple of years, now I hardly see him winning
yeah, i know, they all say he's got the best cue action but he doesn't get the wins on the board?
a 147 break
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. I'll assume you're just mistaken and not misleading.
First off, this is not a 151 break. It's 4 points for a foul and then he makes a 147 break.
Second, 151 is not the "Maximum break in the history of snooker". A higher break is possible and has been achieved.
The maximum break under normal conditions is 147.
(Red (1) + Black (7)) × 15 followed by the 6 colours for another 27 (2+3+4+5+6+7).
However, it is possible to get a higher break than 147.
In the event that your opponent fouls and leaves you in such a position that you cannot hit both sides of a red, by means of a straight shot and without using a cushion, you would then be awarded a free ball by the referee. A free ball allows you to nominate one of the colours to act as a red and scor you 1 point. Your following would then be on a colour for the full point value of that ball.
If, in this situation, you nominated, for example... the brown ball... you can pot the brown ball (scoring 1 point) and roll down the table in order to pot the black (scoring another 7 points). Both the brown and the black would come back onto the table and you would continue your visit as normal.
If you then potted all 15 reds followed by 15 blacks (red, black, red, black, etc.) And then clear the 6 colours, you would score another 147 points. Add that to the 8 you got for the free ball and black, and you will have achieved the maximum break of 155.
To summarise: After a foul, if a free ball is awarded, the maximum break is as follows...
Free ball (1) + black (7) + 15 reds (15) + 15 blacks (105) + 6 colours (2+3+4+5+6+7) = 155
Great post, however the maths needs a little correction/edit at the end. Free ball+ black, followed by 15 reds, each with a black = 128.
@kyliejm2 I mean, we effectively did the same maths. I've just separated out the colours.
1 + 7 + 15 + 105 = 128
And seeing as the free ball counts as a red, I could have also said, "16 reds + 16 blacks + 6 colours", but I favoured the way I wrote it and you favour the way you wrote it. Same result in the end.
Appreciate the compliment. 😊👍🏻
How about this bloody weather eh??!!
I also beat a player by the exact score'
Clickbait rubbish as usual
❤Молодец Нил.
Fortunately for me he did not start by potting a free ball and then the green so it was obviously stupid clickbait.
It’s not a potting break - so it’s just click bait
Plus opponent fouls on the black before. So 162.
Yes hitting the black rather than having potted a red. Had to think for a moment!
that's not included in the break though,,, 155 is max break for sure
@@mrcolmun Yea, fouls are not included in the break
@ OBG I guess English is your second language.
First Televised 147 was by Steve Davis !
A snooker channel that doesn't know the rules!
Max break is 147 not 151😕😕😕
Wrong if you snooker your opponent and they cannot hit a red you get awarded a foul
4 points plus a free ball and you still can get the 147
Alex Higgins did a 155 years ago....Free ball ...then the black and so on...so 16 reds and 16 blacks....for a 155...and if you count the foul like in this 147 ...well....it would be more..
This is still a 147 break. He got the extra 4 on a foul that happened prior to his break.
Have you ever even picked up a cue. You obviously have no idea about the game. If I were you I’d stick to commenting on topics that are at your level and you know something about. What about gaming
This isn’t accurate. Pointless stopped watching after the first shot
How does the clickbait title diminish the quality of the break?
It’s doesn’t. But the title clearly states he makes a 155 break. He doesn’t he makes 147. Still no one has achieved this amazing feat on camera in a major tournament
@stevetaylor1412 This must be your 1st day using TH-cam. If you're going to have a dummy spit every time there's a misleading video title, you may as well cancel your account right now.
