    this is probably the most effectively educational hair video i have watched. Thank you so much. if i could give 10 likes for this video, i would! now i see why my hair is not acting the way i think it should be as i have been trying to follow the ever-popular "LOC" method. now i will know which direction to go

      +Patricia Williams thank you and yes! i've been learning so many awesome and informative new things that i'm excited to share!

    • @Jagnant28
      @Jagnant28 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Patricia Williams you can still use the LOC method with high, low and medium porosity hair types. The only difference is in the types of products that u choose to use. I have low porosity hair like Charisse, and when I do the LOC method I just use a hair steamer to open up my hair cuticles, and then apply my products. When I wash my hair I always make sure to close my hair cuticles with cold water.

      I completely agree.

      Thank you for that info JoAnnie A! When i do my porosity test, I'm going to keep that in mind most definitely if i discover that I have low porosity hair. Now if I'm medium, does that mean i can choose either heavier or lighter oils/creams? Or do i need to stick to one type? And what would you recommend for high porosity hair types (i.e. hair steamer probably would not be the best regimen)...just want to make sure I'm giving my hair exactly what it needs.

    i loved this video! it's so important to learn about your own hair, as opposed to watching someone with a similar hair texture show you what works for them. great idea, hope there are more videos like this in the future!

    I just did the tests and thank you so much this video was so informative . I only did the putting strand of hair test in a bowl for me and my mother, mostly for the fact it was floating like a boat. I think i always knew me and mum was low porosity because no matter what we used our was always dry.Even when i conditioned it, it was matty. This has helped me and now i can care for my mother's hair even better. Now i have to research the best products and techniques thank you so much.

    Thank you for posting this video. I recently relaxed again after being natural for a few years but I wanted to make sure I took the best care of my hair this time around.

  • @Cananovella
    @Cananovella 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I went natural for 4 years and then went back to relaxers this past year ( June 2015). I recently relaxed my hair after going 5 month + without one. My hairstylist recommended that I only stretch my relaxers 3 months while I want to stretch it longer. My question is how did you tend to your hair in between relaxer treatments? At first glance, I would have thought you were still getting relaxers. You had me fooled! Another thing, this video was such great help, I now know why products "sits" on my hair, rather than actually moisturizer it. Truly a wake up call.

    Very helpful Charisse! I've learned about hair porosity since starting my natural hair journey in 2011 but, your video helped me understand it better which helps me since I'm focused more on my hairs health. Thanks for sharing your understanding of hair porosity.
    By the way (lol) my hair goals for 2016 are:
    1. healthy hair (as mention above) and
    2. protective styling. I'm really interested in the yarn twist and the yarn faux locs.
    Thanks for the videos!

    Great video. I tried out both methods and it seems like I definitely have low porosity hair. The thing is that I always thought that due to my dry hair, butters would be good for my hair. It's strange because during summer months heavy butters and oils weight my hair down but in the winter months my hair needs butters and oils and it works great in my hair. I'm new to learning about my porosity. But thanks for sharing these videos very helpful and interesting!

    Love the video!! I have transitioning hair and noticed the relaxed half is high porosity as it sank right to the bottom and the unrelaxed hair is low as it is floating at the top. My regimen is very specific to tend to both porosity types. Ugh ready for the relaxed ends to be gone 😩😩

    So can you use the heavier oils like Shea butter if you have low porosity hair? If not why? I feel like if I use the lighter oils I have to moisturize my hair more often.

    • @iiiaaable
      @iiiaaable 9 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I have low porosity and shea butter pull down my hair. A lot of people recommand grapeseed oil for low porosity hair because it´s a light oil and penetrates the hair shaft. (Sorry for my grammar, I don't speak english fluently)
