The Btcc & Stcc S40 5 inline was incredible
And the S40 had only the 2.0L engine😂
All BTCC 850:s and S40:s used 2 liter naturally aspirated engines to comply with Super Touring car rules.
They had around 300 hp and had a mandated revlimit of 8500 rpm.
The BTCC Volvo engines were based on the 850 2.0 20V from the Italian domestic market
The cornering performance of these Volvos are incredible. Volvo really needs to get back to racing. It will never happen of course, but it would be amazing to see them join back in these types of touring car championships.
P2s are ridiculously fun to drive

This was too frustrating to watch. Those Porsches would hold him up in the corners and blast off down the straights.
The Volvo needs another 20hp from each cylinder I think.

This is true but that’s the nature of the race. You have to use the advantages you have. And the Porsche has more power but the s60 came through the corners better so of course they will try to hold them up😅 not to say it isn’t frustrating though. I totally agree with that.

I visit this video many times because this is just one of the most astounding sounding Volvos I have ever heard in my life and because I also have an S60. It's nothing like this though, just a street car but I have to ask you because I'm doing a tune up. What type of spark plugs do you use? Thankyou again for this fantastic Race. I listen to this Motor like it is a Beethoven Symphony...

My S60R loves this shit.. you said NA, no Turbo - nuts! Once you hit 3rd the 2005 R is a rocket of a Volvo, even on the stock K24, 40 to 120 will suprise the opponent..
I wonder what suspension they're on.
That was all tailor made racing stuff, the entire car had never seen a production line.
Some Volvo S60s had Ohlin suspension. I am still dreaming of making my T5 into a track car.

He is driving a dogbox transmission. So he must lift the gas for shifting.
Sequential but without ignition cut for shifting.

What engine it is? Sounds like N/A one.
It is a N/A engine. It was fitting the S2000 rules this way.
@@julosx Ok, but originally S60 didn't have 2 liter n/a engine. Only 850's and S70 had one. Did the rules allowed to use engine fron different model.
This is a 2.5 liter version, there was a rare 5 cylinder 2.0T version sold during the early 2000s actually, but this one is naturally aspirated.
The S2000 was a 2 liter version, but this is a different build.

Maybe it's wet sometimes or less rubber
Simply put - if I would have been alone, I would have used the entire track width of course - I always do (even though in some places at the Nordschleife it's better not to do so, because you can safe some 40 (!) meters per lap. The thing here was that after a bad start I was quicker than my team mate ahead and the Porsches as long as we didn't hit a straight line. So I was trying to bother them a bit by using a different line. And as you can see, I didn't lose out on the cars ahead. In the end, I did win that race, so obviously I must have done something right in the end ;-)
