Ginault does a terrific job! Just had my “Ocean Rover One”in for service because the bezel came off on a scaffold, I wore it every day for three years and I sent it in for complete service. After six months, came back better than new and a very reasonable fee with a new bracelet! Can’t beat that….. They are a very good company! I’m very happy with what they provided and wish I could by the OR2……
People are too sensitive about Ginault's past as a maker of rolex knockoffs. They act like he's killed someone. The man made the best replicas in the business and they hate him because he went legit? His love of the submariner is obvious and he has perfected it imo. So what if he learned the craft by breaking Rolex's copyright? The real thieves are Rolex charging over 10k for the submariner, a vastly inflated price for the watch, dont get me started on the grey market prices.
I do think he should be given credit for making the change. Maybe he’s paid his dues and it’s time for us all to move on and enjoy what is really an amazing watch.
I will be getting a no date Submariner next year. I plan on getting a Ginault ocean rover II date . The quality for the price is great. $9100 for a Submariner is crazy, the Ginault is the price a Rolex should be. The 1953 Submariner cost $150.00, this would be $1200.00 today.
Great review James. Uh…about the Steinhart……of course it is less than 1/3 the cost of the Ginault…..same motor…SW 200-1……So, for 3 times the price I would certainly hope it would be a better watch than the Steiny. Thanks and I for 1 am glad you are not pushing Ali-Express so much. Peace!

Thanks Darren. This one really surprised me. The quality is outstanding. I’m looking to find one for myself as well. Just need to find the right one at the right price.
@WATCHing James I looked shortly after your video and some of the models are discontinued but I believe there are a couple models and one of them had no data on the dial which you said you would rather not have if I'm not mistaken. Anyway it was terrible priced but I'm also looking in usd. Great watch though might pick one up for myself. Thanks for showing and sharing this otherwise I would have never known about this brand James. Thanks again.
Inoen one of the pre-preduction no-date Ocean Rovers. What I especially like about it is that is not an exact copy of an existing R model. It is a collection of several best properties of different S references. The vintage case for instance, but with the newer clasp, and military hands… It is as good quality as the original.
Great looking watch. Looked like you were a little nervous just handling it. I would be too, $1100 may as well be $100,000. I like the hands on this one a lot more than the ones the original watch comes with. Keep the videos coming, you're doing a great job!
@@WATCHingJames Are you aware of the amazing and deceptive and disgusting and absolutely filthy criminal history of the owner of this brand? I've done my own research. It's hard, all the info is online. But it's so likely that this owner is an absolute crook.
GREAT review all in 9 minutes! My question/hesitation is that it is THREE times more expensive than the Steinharts premium ceramic. Do you think it's really that much better? Ginault have one with a royal blue ceramic bezel insert that I might get. Thanks
Parts of it are definitely 3 times as good. The bracelet, steel finishing and dial. But the movement is basically the same. Which is a big part of the price equation. I’m about to be lent two more Ginaults and the communication and information from the company is very compelling too.
For someone who handled both.. which in your opinion is the better quality watch aside from the aesthetic itself which is a matter of taste. The ginault or the CW 300?
That is a very good question. I’ve asked myself the same thing. I think they are the same. Both are incredible. But I do prefer the CW more for its looks and feels better thought out. However the quality. The same.
I'd love to know if the Rover 1 and the Silent Spring are also so good. Also, I've never seen a sub on a strap, but I do wonder what straps and even other bracelets might look good with it. I'm not a slave to clomageness. Maybe a shiny black alligator strap.
I am going to get the chance to see more of them shortly. The brand owner has agreed to lend me a couple of their watches. I will have to send them back but I should be able to have them long enough to get a good feel for them and create some more videos too.
@@WATCHingJames I agree totally with your statements to me it is the r*lex that r*lex won't make but should have it has all my favorite features from all the years in one watch
@@WATCHingJames You have done great job with the review! And yes! The ocean rover 2(Ginault) its phenomenal watch! Many friends of mine sold the original Rolex sub and keep the Ginault! The watch hand's of ocean rover are more interesting from the mercedes of rolex!
I think that that's an absolutely insane watch. It looks incredible and I think it functions as well as a real Submariner. I dare say I think it looks better than a Submariner. But yeah... $1699 for a homage watch is really really pushing it. I say that as someone who truly appreciates homage watches. I paid significantly less for every piece I own, and I own two pieces that would almost certainly fetch more on the secondary market than this piece, despite how good it is. I really think Ginault did an amazing job and I can see their thought process with the 'Precision Chronometer' thing. Here's the unfortunate issue, a COSC/Glashütte/METAS certification actually has a cost attributed to it, and despite their claimed testing, it would not really make sense to call this a true chronometer. It would be akin to my watchmaker getting my Baume & Mercier Riviera to +/- 0 spd and me calling it a chronometer. Rolex get away with it, but they're Rolex, and I think their movements still do go to COSC first AFAIK. It's a lovely watch and I personally would love to own one, but I'm not sure I'd be willing to spend $1699 for something like this. You'd be getting awfully close to the price of a used BB58 by that point.
That is the problem with watches in this price range. Sometimes that can be amazing but others it is hard not to then keep saving. I can say the quality of this watch is almost second to none in the price category. I think if you can find a used version at a good price you would end up with an incredible bargain.
I own both Ginault and Steinhatrts plus some Rolex Tudor sports models and I would have to say going from the Ginault to my Sub I actually don't feel that much of an upgrade in terms of quality. This speaks for the level of craftmanship Ginault is achieving. Steinharts are good watches for the price but they are really not on the same level as Ginault.
@@WATCHingJames I dont own them yet, I just discovered Steinhart and Ginault: Ginault seems to shine more than Steinhart, is it right? The Ginault bracelet seems to be more luxury, in my opinion. But what about putting a Ginault bracelet on the Steinhart watch?🤗
