    Nice vid. Worseldine track is actually named after my Grandfather, who worked in the area at the time. I've been past the track, but never on it.

    16.05 Why on Earth did they take the low side on that bend? Then again in trouble at 22:45. Of course I could also ask why anyone would go into that environment without a winch?
    I hope in the years since this trip Marion has bought a winch! :-)

      We didn't see how the driver got himself into that bother but I guess inexperience.
      Why no winch? By choice I don't use a winch. Various reasons including: 1. Often badly engineered and they fail when you need them. 2. They give a false sennse of security and lull drivers into taking unnecessary risks. If the going gets really tough you can always turn back. No prizes for being a hero.

    hey thanks for sharing your experience with us, really was a great video, really enjoyed it. If I could syggest maybe don't speed up the obstacles, they are the fun bits. Can I ask, how did the Discovery go on the obstacles compared to the 110 ? Did it have any issues with articulation or traction despite it being air suspended? What tire was the 110 running, looks huge - and the Disco?. Thanks.

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +prana8 it was our first video so still experimenting we wont speed up the fun stuff anymore :-), The Disco did very well only in really slippery conditions the AT tires fall short. From memory the Defender was on 33" at the time (now on 35"). For standard touring the air suspension works very well, Mark has the rod's which keep the car in off road height no matter the speed

    • @ItchyFeetOz
      @ItchyFeetOz 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks that rod mod sounds interesting. Know where I can get more info? I am in the market for a Disco and want to set it up for Cape York... hence my questions.

    Iv done most of the tracks on this trip. Not sure it's a good idea to take vehicles that don't have winches

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      in 9 VHC trips we used a winch twice, and it's no issue to have vehicles without winch as long as you have vehicles with one

  • @HammerRocks

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      not sure of brand as it was on truck, really like it though as the winch is mounted on top, will soon get bar customised with brush bars etc.

      +AllOffroad.com.au Taking delivery of a new Defender next week after many years of Landcruisers and Range Rovers and am considering what bull bar/winch bar to get. I've always had ARB steel bars but I think they spoil the look of the Defenders so am looking for something else which will give me some protection as well as cater for winch installation a bit later. Will be interested to see how you customise it.

    Are the Prado`s petrol or diesel. I have a very good reason for asking this question, I hope someone gets back to me.

    • @matthewpaton807

      the 150 series is diesel. not sure about 90 series.

    • @matthewpaton807

    I've no doubt it was a brilliant trip, but I found the bulk of the video a bit boring and the camera person moved the camera around far too quickly. Next time you record one, make it half as long, that way it'll be entertaining for all viewers....not only the participants.

    Firstly, I really enjoy your vids.
    Secondly, at 11:03, you'd probably get a foot up our ass for playing that music in such pristine conditions; such Bogan behaviour. The Aussie bush is meant to be enjoyed by many people, of all walks of life and who have the intention to "respect" everyone else sharing that campsite. If you guys were the only ones there then cool, but if I was there, then we would have had some issues.
    Tread lightly, respect the bush and everyone else.

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      nothing bogan about playing 30 minutes of music, at minus -3 degree around the camp fire in a empty camp site mate, and yes we do respect the bush and fellow travelers. Good to know you watch out for us and make sure we don't do anything wrong

    • @daytripper7815
      @daytripper7815 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed.... and I'm glad that you guys respect the bush; quite a number of people don't which is very disappointing and have been the cause of closing down / locking out respectful 4-wheel driver like us. Keep up the good work and the vids.
      Cheers

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Mate, I know where you are coming from as we see it every weekend and believe me I/we dislike nothing more then a bunch of Bogans who wreck it for everyone by throwing rubbish, wrecking tracks or keep us up at night with music and drunk unruly behavior. If you watched more of our vids you will see that we are certainly nor that type of people.

    no idea in recovering a car.putting straps to the roof rack what a laugh

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      as you can see the strap on the roof rack was not holding the vehicle and had no load on it it was just one additional safety, the load was on the strap around the rear bar and chassis rail... But I certainly agree that a roof rack would not be a suitable place to anchor any recovery strap to hold load.

      AllOffroad.com.au Ha haa. Excellent response. One thing I have learned after over 40 years of being a photographer and a 4x4 enthusiast... to drive the high country (and other places) is blissful, but it is almost impossible to shoot professional looking film and drive a truck. It's either one or the other, so I restrict myself to shooting stills while on a trip. Now, being a passenger with camera is another thing altogether. All the very best and safe travels.

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** we actually prioritize our adventures! The videos are for fun, but we always hope to improve on the filming (if you have a look at our Chanel you see that this is the first video) and subsequent video's have improved. Feel free to come along as dedicated camera man as it is actually difficult to drive, film, spot etc.
      But fortunately no one is forced to watch. As we have a few subscribers quite a few people seem to appreciate the effort which is put in to it without any commercial return

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      this was one of my first videos however can't have everything in real time videos would be to long as speed up still gives you an idea what happened
