  • Better score photos than last night's version - re-done in morning light - but this score is still not easy to follow in realization, including for me. (computing issues) The abrupt stopping of Great Eb G at the end of 158 now bothers me, but I know now why I ignored it. I had had seemingly endless trouble with a mysterious clipping off of the F F#2 at the end of 159 , which effectively ruined the piece for me - you can see both places have have /////?'s over them - from me wondering originally whether to tremolo them - but that is a different issue. I eventually walked backwards into a solution of the 159 clipping, but I had stopped worrying about 158 by then. (That issue is easily solved. ) Fully understanding the tools you are using - MIDI channels for one, and certain features of Nuendo -- but just going ahead when you find a setup which works - can come back to bite you. (added on 11/14/23 -- last minute out of left field Nuendo midi editor , or "play", malfunctions, appearing when a product is ready for export -- have more than once disappeared after an overnight shutdown of my offline only 2008 G5, -- and next morning restart. A crude but effective fix method.) Thank you for being here. Paul Betjeman

how do you organize your pitches?

Not an easy question to answer - it's an accumulation of things I know about music, finding, first at Berklee, that composition was the only thing which "comes easy" for me -- I write with a slow improvisatory method. You do what you can do.

a fuller answer to your question maybe is in the "description" of Las Cruces XI here. Also spending a lot of time, and writing and producing things, at the Columbia CMC (computer music center) in New York on 125th st, provided major musical experience for me - although only peripherally around "organizing pitches".

@@paulbetjeman9933 so it's largely intuitive and not necessarily based around serialism, set theory or such?

Yes, although I have used this all interval series, shown at the end of Las Cruces XI, as note group source material for a while now. (And I have today started a new piece with it.) Thanks you for your interest. PaulB@@scronchman0146
