Thank you to my friend Jeffrey ( / jeffrey_merrihue ) for inviting me to dinner at Alchemist, a once in a lifetime eating experience. Jeffrey is an amazing friend of mine, and we meet up from time to time in various cities to eat. If you’re ever in LA, go check out Jeffrey’s amazing deli and wine bar: www.heroicdeliandwinebar.com/
World's Most Travelled Hotdog Stand - But first, before we had dinner at Alchemist, we pre-gamed with some hotdogs for social change, at the World's Most Travelled Hotdog Stand. The hotdogs were outstanding and a great way to spend our afternoon. #Copenhagen #Alchemist #Food
Alchemist (alchemist.dk/) - When Chef Rasmus Munk opened reservation for 3 months at a time, it SOLD OUT in 3 minutes! It’s one of the hardest restaurants in the world to make a reservation, and that’s because it’s one of the most insane, thought provoking, creative, and full rounded dining experiences you can have in the world. It was not just a meal, but an entire journey, a meal with a message behind every dish.
50 courses - Although many were just a single bite, there were 50 different course tasting, and the meal lasted 5 ½ hours. We journeyed from room to room, each with its own unique design, artwork, and theme.
Chef Rasmus Munk ( / rasmusmunkalchemist ) is a creative genius, a deep thinker, and an activist, who expresses his mind and thoughts through delicious food. Thank you to Chef Rasmus Munk for having us and for being so welcoming and cool!
Thank you also to Visit Copenhagen ( / visitcopenhagen ) for supporting my trip to Copenhagen, Denmark.

This guy never complains about food.
He pays due respect to every culture
This is proper manners
Actually he has said few times that he didn't like some food.
I’m pretty sure he was at a hotel once and ordered food and it was too salty ?
This isn't Danish culture though
@@mdmandy If you knew anything, you would know from the restaurants name, what it actually means, to expand culture, as we can't keep living in the past, things are either evolving, or dissolving... So why wouldn't it be Danish culture? You don't think there was a culture before "Frikadeller" either?
looks like a restaurant where I'd accidentally eat the napkin and pretend to think it's really tasty
😂
😆
LMAO. Thats exactly what these places are like. You spend about 2,000 then leave hungry. Its a once in a lifetime experience to try, but I prefer a good Indian Restaurant anyday.
@@elisabethn7962 Except he gets it for free and they pay him on top. Its called food prostitution.
@@jonblogondrong4792 What? So are you saying he just got lucky and all these people contacted him to go eat for free? You must be another millennium who thinks that hard work does not exists and you are just entitled to get what you want because you want it. Go get a job or find something you are good at doing and do it.
I have lived in Sweden for 33 years and visited Denmark more than 50 times. My experience of the Danish people is that they are crazy and funny, almost always drunk, innovative designers, have high environmental consciousness, speak like they have put a hotdog horizontally in the throat, but after seeing these Copenhagen episodes I realise I have been away too long (8 years) from Denmark. Why I have visited Denmark so many times is thanks to cheaper liquors and that it's much more fun to be bored in Denmark than in Sweden :)
I am really impressed of how Denmark can maintain its old life style, food traditions and at the same time keeping on being so innovative.
Thanks Mark for sharing with us this psychedelic gourmet experience! We can all understand from this restaurant visit that I am right when I say "exactly all" Danes are locos, but luckily they spoke English and not Danish in this video! :)
Danmark är ett dejligt land med smörrebröd och tår på tand!
Ok. So Denmark is the place I belong.
Hej man. I hope you revisiting. We love our swedish brothers and sisters. Don't tell my fellow danes I said that though.

When Mark doesn’t close his eyes and tilt his head to his right, he doesn’t like the food and he just tries to say the most polite words he can muster 😂
True... So true💯
❤️
I told my husband this when he thought mark liked something. I was like ," mmm nah,he didnt lean and ooooo it so it's okay he's just being polite."😂😂
That's true. However I think most of the time he doesn't actually dislikes the food, he just doesn't think it's delicious, I remember him saying he hated the food only once, when they went to a restaurant in Thailand, if I'm correct.

This episode says it all about why I think you're the best food vlogger Mark. You appreciate everything for what it is but you can't hide your true feelings about what you're experiencing. For all that restaurant is amazing, you never once showed the same excitement or joy as you did when you were dining with families around the world who couldn't ever conceive of being able to afford to even step in the door of Alchemist. Your tour of Ghana for me was the very embodiment of this. And this is why you're so great...you are ultimately more interested in people and what food means to them than in just food itself.
I went to a fine dining years ago, and I'm still washing their dishes until today
He eats each Alchemist meal free without mentioning any price meal each; he's merely snacking one by one free of charge lol.

The amount of respect & politeness he has is amazing
this is what happened when Willy Wonka opened a restaurant
I’d hate to be the one to clean all those serving platters 😂
Well, considering that you earn $19 an hour at McD in Denmark, I suspect the wages you get cleaning serving platters at this place will be pretty good.
Plus none of them get that dirty. Dishes in restaurants aren't that bad, done it quite a few times, there are worse jobs.

what an unique, funny, absurd and spectacular experience!. I wouldn"nt call that food, ;-)It has more to do with chemistry, I get why they call themselves the Alchmists.. Great video!

Reason for the danish hot dog being amongst the best in the world.
Fresh baked bread that is a bit sweet.
Salty very high quality Meat sausages.
The Brown one is smokey and fried, the red ones are boiled in water with vinegar + onions, and beef boullion and then fried afterwards ,.
Then topped woth crispy fried onions, fresh raw onions, and sweet n tart pickled cucumber, hot strong mustard, pepery sweet ketchup, and also the sweet pickled tasting remoulade sauce...
All togehter in one bite and your tastebuds are in heaven... Umami and sweet/ sour / pepery and smokey taste in one simple sandwich. Gotta love it.

I dunno about this Vlog. Awesomely GORGEOUS building with incredible different rooms in which to dine. The "presenters" of the food are very knowledgeable about explaining what the next little bite that Mark is gonna consume. None of it looks very good to me. And I betcha not to Mark either. He is VERY good about showing respect and being positive about where he is dining. But I have been watching Wiens' videos for some time now and MAN...I can really see when he is "over the moon" about a place. His reactions are usually priceless when he is really loving something he's eating. I'd say his reactions in this place...even after 5 hours.... was friendly but not enthusiastic. Plus, at the end he was saying he was really tired and wanted to go to bed. So, three things: I bet it would cost a couple of thousand at least, to eat there; and two, I betcha Mark didn't have to pay; and three, betcha he never goes back, either. That's what I think.
This whole clip is like a good LSD trip
