Dude hub motors weigh a ton. This bike weighs 35lbs all-in including the battery and smokes every bike even close to its size. It's also way more durable than hub motors. "Over"engineering ftw.
We have a lightweight and removable chain guard on our production model to keep everything maximally safe! It's notable, though, that the chain setup looks scarier than it is. The drive sprocket is buried behind a 26mm wide clutch that's totally harmless. That makes it extremely difficult for anything to get caught in the chain. It's actually never happened and our prototypes are almost three years old now.

@LawlessLee driving a car is lazy too we could just walk everywhere but you go faster with motors. Faster = good. Normal bmx = still good, but also electric bmx is pretty rad.

Im old but does anyone remember the BALFA NR???? i want that bike made of carbon 29in wheels and modern geo........that bike weighed a ton but when pointed downhill it was unstoppable and the suspension was not affected by pedal forces or braking forces it was sooo smooth
Hi genuine question.. what measures are in place to reduce wear on the bikes rear hub? I imagine that's a shit load of torque instantly being applied on sprocket teeth, the pawls etc..?
Do you mean to ask how the cranks engage? The red bearing you see is part of a one-way clutch mechanism that engage when you pedal and disengages when you don't. Also, the motor transmission has a similar mechanism that disengages when you pedal, and engages when you hit the throttle. That's how we're able to make this bike pedal like a bicycle and throttle like a motorcycle.
Finally! The fact that there aren't many of these out there is so sad.
We're hoping to change that. Already manufacturing our first production run.
