I like how you give a clear demonstration of the finished project first.
Thanks Peter for taking the time to watch and to also leave a nice comment.
You know Halloween prep is in full swing when Paul drops his first tutorial of the season! Another amazing build AND step-by-step how-to video. Thank you Paul for your unparalleled creativity and commitment to keeping Halloween FUN and SPOOKY!
Hi Steve and thanks for the glowing review of this video, it is much appreciated.
I've always loved props that are made with discarded electronics. Weatherproofing is always an issue, but some amazing things can be made with them!
They can really simplify the animation on any build. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to leave a comment.
the movement looks so good and creepy!
Thanks pickledcow for the compliment.
I adore how this turned out! The dirt section is Ingenious! The pool noodles with burlap realy is a different take on how most usualy do it.
Thanks SkellingtonGhost, I always appreciate your comments.
It's weird... This channel is no stranger to handling skeletons and such, but for some reason this project in particular feels like you're giving instructions on how to make your own Frankenstein creation. lol
I guess I am bringing into existence a creature that rises from the dead! LOL, thanks Bob... now I'm scared!
First off -- FANTASTIC!!! OMG this is great! As a follower of your channel, that's exactly what I thought you were going to use those fans and that baby thing again... Have you thought about using motors and linkages to achieve the same effect? I know it takes some mechanical skills to pull it off, but I'm sure it can be done. I think the other prop you made, the Living Tombstone I still want to make, I purchased all the parts to make it, just that I haven't yet... Maybe that will be this year's prop. And as you know I built your "Beware of Spooks" sign, I get a lot of complements on that prop. Just top-notch designs, clear and great instructions! Thanks a bunch for making these videos.
As always, thanks Ray for the nice comments. Sometimes I try to find ways for viewers, of all skill levels, to achieve some great effects with "off the shelf" items. I really appreciate your input.
@@HALLOWEENHOWTObySaulFilms Yes, I understand that you're trying to keep it simple, and sometimes you do give options in your instructions to make it with other items, but what these mechanisms have going for them is that they are already figured out and do what you want them to do; so I get it... and to be honest I never think about repurposing appliances like you do. Anyway, these are such good ideas that you can run with them in so many directions, and that's what you inspire!
Oh man Paul I kind of know what you look like now. I went to your home page and saw a still frame of you and your sister being interviewed a long time ago.
Oh my, that was a long time ago!!
Congrats Paul on getting 16,000 views!
Thanks CFAO, it is doing well!
I'm excited you're back!
Yes, it's that time of year again.
❤❤ This is amazing!!! I made your haunted table last year and placed the Halloween candy on it. The kids/parents loved it! Excited to try this out!!
That sound like a great idea for the levitating table. Let me know how this build turns out.
The movements are natural and much better than any store bought animatronic
That is why I really like using the MamaRoo, its smooth movements are hard to duplicate. Thanks for the nice comment and for watching.
Did you kill power to the heater or fan blades?@HALLOWEENHOWTObySaulFilms
This looks so good.
This funny because 2 weeks ago by my father's house, someone was throwing out one of those baby seats and I picked it up, took it home and it works. Was going to make your floating bride but I think I my have changed my mind. 😂
Dumpster diving is a good thing!! Have fun and thanks for watching and commenting.
Yay! Your videos are my favorite. I also like that you use a lot of the same supplies as prior videos because I have lots of leftovers.
Some supplies are just so versatile and good to have on hand. I am so happy that my videos are your favorite.
Excellent work! The skeleton's hair reminds of Jim Carrey when he played Count Olaf from "A Series of Unfortunate Events".
Thanks you so much for taking the time to comment. I will have to look up him and his hair to compare.
Thank you for all your hard work and giving back/sharing with the community! I look forward to many more tutorials this Halloween season! Many thanks! 🎃
Thanks Damian for the kind words and gracious compliment, it means a lot.
This is cool! Definitely saving it.
Thanks I'm glad that you like it!
This prop is amazing. The motions of the fan and baby swing are so smooth. I love and appreciate your breakdown of how to put the prop together. It is so helpful and very easy to follow.
Thanks so much, I appreciate you taking the time to watch and for writing such a thoughtful comment.
I enjoy your creative skills as well as the production value on these how to videos. Your voice just is so great for narration, and you cadence very smooth as you speak. The attention to detail and with the layout for the construction is complete and easy to follow. I enjoy these as entertainment as well as ideas for projects. Another great video great work as always looking forward to more season videos...
Wow Jett, thanks for all of the nice compliments. It is appreciated greatly.
@@HALLOWEENHOWTObySaulFilms You are welcome my friend, I enjoy your very hard work...
Thanks, I'm building one right now! Walmart 2023 skeletons have arms that are a little different(upper arm is now mostly one piece with a few screws for just the ball) but you can still use the fender washer+bungee, you just need to dremel a slot in the ball for half the fender washer, the rest of the shoulder joint bungee connection is the same. To connect the lower arm bone, there's a convenient hole from the injection molding that I'm going to put another screw eye in to attach the bungee.
Thanks for the insight. Products are not always the same from year to year or even always available, so this may help others to customize it to the product that they might have. Thanks also for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment.
Ok its time to guess what Paul is going to release next. The floating candleabra, the disembodied head, or something else?!
LOL. Your chances of guessing correctly are 50/50... but then again you never know!
Another great project and tutorial, thanks Paul
You are very welcome Leigh, It is always nice to hear from you.
I love it! Hey do you have any creative ideas on how to use the old style foot massagers that have the two rotating disks?
As a matter of fact I do, look for the 'Animated Slithering Snakes' and the 'Moving & Breathing Grave' prop videos. They both use massagers, yet different types. Thanks for watching, asking and commenting.
I love and look forward to all of your videos, but this one is the ultimate example of using things that almost everyone has access to in a creative way to amazing effect. You are a treasure to the Halloween prop community!
Thank you so much for that glowing compliment! I really appreciate your appreciation for them and for taking the time to not only watch them, but to also leave such a nice comment.
Welcome back. These videos are always amazing.
Thanks everfree, It is always nice to hear from you.
Working on this build. Had to make some modifications as the skeleton I used had ball and socket joints rather than the ratchet ones like the one you used. Otherwise going well. I am going to use spray foam for the outside covering of the mound.
Sounds good gravemarker, please let me know how it turns out! Thanks for the comment and for watching.
You, sir, are a creative genius. So many useful techniques here - the bungee cord joints, the pool noodles holding the arms in a more natural position, the nails keeping the hands in place. They'll be very useful even if one doesn't make this specific prop. Great prop & great tutorial!
Hi Susan, thanks so much for your insightful comment. Yes, not only do certain supplies always come in handy... also certain techniques do too. Glad you like!
Super cool, great job on this.
I'm glad that you like it and thanks for the nice comment.
Your creations are always SO Good!! The step-by-step instructions are perfect to teach everyone how to make them. I think this guy is your BEST one so far. His movements are smooth and lifelike.
Hi Gregory. Thanks for the nice compliment and the thoughtful critique. I do try to make my props approachable, even the very involved builds.
Thank you so much for another amazing video! All of your projects are just incredibly inspiring, and I hope to see see more :)
And thank you for watching and commenting. I am thrilled that they inspire you.
Amazing video as always!!
Well thanks, I appreciate the nice compliment.
I tuned in because I liked the motion of the prop! I have ninety percent of what I need to do this in my workshop, except for the baby seat thing and the fan. My goal is to accomplish this same motion with one motor.
Thanks Kurt, I'm glad that I was able to inspire you. Please let me know how your build turns out.
Thank you for this new video, I get such a thrill out of these. For me the best part of building Halloween props is problem solving. You sir are a master problem solver, you are MacGyver-like. The great part of your videos is that everything you show and the way you do things can easily be applied to other projects. So with that said, I have been looking for one of those baby swing gismos ever since the levitating table video. So I think I will have to come up with another source of motion. Your videos are always entertaining, easy to follow and inspiring. And now...OFF TO THE GARAGE!
What would we do without our garages?! Thanks for your personal words about my videos, they are greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!!
And thank you for watching and commenting.
First of all thank you, for this tutorial. It will be a challenge to do because I do not have the two main items that you have in your tutorial for movement. So therefore we have to figure out something different.
First thing is the top of the fan how wide is it.
The second thing is a movement of the baby swing, I guess?
Hopefully we can come up with a replacement for these two items. In order to make this project similar to yours.
We, is me, myself, and I.
Thank you again.
Hi and thanks for taking the time to watch and ask questions. The width of the fan is about 7", the important thing to keep in mind is finding one that the ribcage of the skeleton (that you use) can fit over. As far as the baby swing, I have not seen any other product similar, probably because they have a patent on it. As suggested in my videos where this is used, look for a used one and pay a fraction of the cost. Good luck and keep your eyes peeled for bargains!
YAY! YOU"RE BACK!!!!!!
Yes, it is that time of year again. Boy it comes around fast!! I hope you like.
This is amazing!!!
Thanks, and thanks for watching.
I love the way he moves !
Thanks... I owe it all to the mamaroo baby swing. Such a cool mechanism!
I love how much step to step detail you give and the bonus of stopping and highlighting parts , I know I can watch this and make my own , will now be watching all of your videos 😊🎉.
Thanks Alexander, I am so glad that you are enjying my videos. I hope that they inspire you to take some of these projects on.
looks very nice
Thanks, I'm glad that you like it!
I love this! We get a few downpours in my area I was wondering if you have any suggestions on waterproofing so I don't get any short outs.
Build a decaying crypt for it to sit in (it does not have to be big) and have the roof protect it.
Sun, wind, rain are always the tricky part with Halloween decorations aren’t they.
Wow epic build I absolutely love how you turned in to an animictronic and being so life like
Thanks for the nice comment... and for watching too!
@HALLOWEENHOWTObySaulFilms Your very much welcome I really enjoyed it an amazing and epic animatictronic diy
Very good
Thanks Steve!
My absolute favorite Halloween how to's, i love the simple step by step process. I know its a lot of work and it doesnt go unnoticed! I really appreciate these
Your appreciation for these videos and then taking the time to verbalize it is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Paul returns with walk off home run with this prop
Hi LordHog, what a great compliment. Thank you and thanks for watching.
Absolutely amazing. Not only are the finished results always stunning, but the step-by-step instructions are always well articulated and easy to follow. Phenomenal. Can't wait to make one of these spectacular projects. Fantastic job as always!
Hey Krypt, thanks for the compliments and kind words. Have fun making Halloween Fun and let me know how it turns out.
Thanks for sharing such great build. Just wondering if something else could be used instead of the mamaroo as I can’t find them that cheap.
That is a sticking point with the mamaroo, it gives such a unique, smooth movement that there really is no substitute. I am sorry that you are having a hard time finding a discounted one. Good luck with your search and my appologies for not having an alternitive.
You should take the legs and make them kick. Maybe make a vat or witches brew that he fell into
Well, that is one way to make use of the lower half! Thanks for watching.
I'm interested to know if the new ultra poseable skeletons from HD this year would cut out some of the prep work for this project. I'm going to try to grab one as soon as they're back in stock online or hit store shelves, whichever comes first.
Thanks for asking. From what I can tell from looking at them online, you would still need to make the shoulder and elbow joints noodly (for lack of a better word) by using a bungee cord-like connection at those joints. The other alternative (as stated in the video), is to simply pose the arms above the dirt mound without connecting the hands to it. Either way, I think the skeletons look cool, especially with the illuminated eyeballs. Additionally, the online view from the back looks like they may be assembled with screws, which is a plus. I hope that helps.
What a thorough, detailed and awesome tutorial! You rock, thank you!!
Thank you so much for the nice compliments, I'm glad that you found this how-to video helpful. Thanks for watching!
Wow so cool. I love how you do your videos. You show very clearly how to do it step by step. I also like your voice is very clear and calming. Excellent job on the artwork Halloween prop and your video production. New to your channel but will be catching up and watching all your prior videos. Thanks for being so easy to follow your directions on the how to do things. Awesome 🧡🤎💛🍁🍂
Hi Melonee, thanks for watching and for taking the time to leave such a nice complimentary comment. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
I’m just starting on motorized props this year, and fighting not to add this to the list. Love your ideas and coming up with ways to building what looking like complex movements with easy solutions.
I appreciate the toughtful comment. I do try to come up with some "shortcuts" to creating unique effects. Thanks for watching.
Fantastic looking prop and very professional video. Thanks!
Thank you and thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
This is amazing. You're quite the craftsman, sir.
Thank you for that very nice comment, it is much appreciated.
Brilliantly Constructed! The movement is so natural! That’s why he is so scary!!
Thanks Dawn, I'm glad that you like it... and that you took the time to leave such a nice comment.
Fantastic video and omg what a work! True artist 👌
I appreciate you taking the time to watch and leave a message, thank you so much!
Very cool. Nice to see you back with more cool projects.
Hi Jasper, yes it is that time of year again. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I love your videos! Your attention to detail of the tutorials is great.
Thank you for sharing it with us.
Thanks Regina, I'm so glad that you like them.
Was really easy to follow and turned out great. I didn't modify the shoulders, but still turned out great.
Hey Scott, I am so happy that this build turned out well for you. Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment.
Wow that came out so good! Great work ☠️
Thanks totalnonstop, I'm so glad that you like it and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.
How much longer till the next video Paul?!
I'm working on it day and night... well, day. I hope to have a quick preview out in a few days with the complete video out shortly after that. Thanks for asking CFAO.
@@HALLOWEENHOWTObySaulFilms Goody goody Paul!
Absolutely LOVE it! You did a great job on explaining and showing this tutorial. Keep up the awesomeness!
I'm so glad that you liked it and thanks for taking the time to leave such a nice comment.
Another great video, Paul!
Thanks Ryan, I appreciate it.
The dedication! 💀🙌🏽
What a nice thing to say, thanks!
Hey Pau! Always great to see your tutorials. Creative and clear concise instructions. Well done as always. l am running so far behind this year it is crazy. Thanks for taking the time to create and share this fantastic prop. What would you do enable it to withstand the elements such as rain or possibly high wind. I need to get to the point where I can start to set things up outside about 2 months in advance so it will be ready for the drive by traffic on Oct . Storms are my nemesis. Any suggestions? Thanks.
I would camouflage a patio umbrella to look like an old tree or shrub and place that over it... or build an old crypt with a simple shed or gabled roof structure to help protect it from the elements. Hope that helps Joe and thanks for asking.
@@HALLOWEENHOWTObySaulFilms Thanks for the suggestions. I have been trying to figure out ways to to do this with my store bought animatronics as well. Would be great if they sold them outdoor ready. Trying to get away from the store bought stuff and go the DIY route. Thanks again Paul.
Omg this is a great creation & thank you for being hugely detailed for those that may struggle to follow along - I must make this
I'm so glad that you appreciate me going through all the details and I hope that you do give this prop a try. Thank you so much for taking the time to not only watch, but to also leave a comment.
Love these! I had to buy a brand new mamaroo for the levitating table since everyone around here and shops were asking about the same cost as a brand new one 😞
Sorry you had to pay full price. Keep your eyes peeled just in case a cheap one comes along, then snap it up! Thanks for watching.
Beautiful work and very well done video
Thanks Gina, I appreciated you taking the time to both watch and comment on my video.
That is Friken awesome !!! A little bit out of my skill level but amazing. Thanks for sharing
Thanks, I'm glad that you liked it.
Wow that was one of the best, most through tutorials I’ve seen. Kudos!
FYI I found that child size clothes fit the skeletons the best.
Hi and thanks for the nice comment. Good to know about the child size clothes, obviously my old shirt that I grabbed from the rag bag proved way too big.
A great tutorial and a fantastic prop.
Thanks Cole, glad you like it!
This is brilliant. Thank you for making these videos
You're welcome and thank you for watching and commenting.
Amazing tutorial. Thanks for the great details!
My pleasure, I'm glad that you like it.
Oh wow, I love this! Thank you so much for such clear, laymen instructions. I want to try my hand at some Halloween animations, and following your instructions I think I can do it….
Please let me know how this build goes for you Regina! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment and thanks also for watching!
Love this! But is it waterproof? What happens if it gets rained on?
Anything electrical is not water proof (other than a submersible pump), so protect it by having a waterproof cover over it. Create a crypt for it to sit in or use a patio umbrella, disguised as an old tree, to keep it out of the rain. Thanks for asking.
Beautiful work, have you thought about using a windshield wiper motor instead of the fan? This is one to create :)
Yes, the windshield wiper motor would work well too. I try to aim my videos to many skill types and for some the oscilating fan is easier to work with since it is self contained and ready to go. Thanks for your comment and for watching..
Nice! How would you make it weather/water proof??
It needs a shelter for sure if you live in those areas with rain in October. I would either place it inside an old crypt or what is left of one. You just need two walls and a shed roof... make it look like an old ruin. Or, I would place a patio umbrella to the side of it and it's tombstone and make the base looks like a tree trunk and cover the umbrella part with branches and leaves (real or artificial) add some branches on the underneath side to cover the the metal supports. Thanks for watching and I hope that spurs your imagination.
Thanks you again for another amazing creation. As always the step by step is really helpful and I love that you use recycled items like the baby swing. A great spooky and doable project to celebrate Halloween and delight the neighbors.
Thanks Mr. Orchard for your thoughtful and insightful comment. They are always appreciated.
Wow, what a great early birthday gift! I always look forward to these!
Well, Happy Birthday and many more. Thanks for watching.
I love this but I've got one question. Is the fan still moving air when it is on? It doesn't seem to be but most fans I've seen don't oscillate unless the fan is blowing. I'm just not sure if that would make the shirt blow around. Thanks so much!
Good question. Yes, the fan is still blowing air. The videos did not pick it up but the front, lower part of the shirt does billow. This can be minimized by carefull placement of holes and tatters in that part of the shirt. Thanks for asking Melanie.
Amazing Imagination!!! A thousand thanks!
And thank you for taking the time to watch and comment!
Looks fantastic! This is definitely something I want to try
Please do Cindy, I would love to know how yours turns out. Thanks for watching!
You give the easiest to follow instructions I have seen. Thanks 👍
These are some complicated builds, so I do try to make the instructions easy to follow. Thanks for the positive feedback and for watching.
@@HALLOWEENHOWTObySaulFilms It is a complicated build. But, your instructions make it feel less intimidating.
Brilliant and very easy to follow along with! Thank you!
You are welcome Jack, thanks for watching and for commenting.
This was phenomenal, thank you for sharing!
I am happy to do it and I appreciate your nice comment.
How coincidental! I was just thinking about your channel this morning! Love this project! 🎃
We must be on the same wavelength... thanks for watching.
I wait for your videos all year!! Thank you so much!!
Well, I certainly hope that they are worth the wait. Thank you for your loyal support.
@@HALLOWEENHOWTObySaulFilms Always. ALWAYS. 🖤🧡💀👻👽🎃
Just brilliant!!
Thank you so much for the nice compliment.
I think I might have a challenge for you. Can you create a motorized opening and closing sarcophagus lid for a mummy? Here's what I'm picturing. A mummy sarcophagus leaning up against a wall (or some other sturdy structure) and the lid constantly keeps opening and closing revealing a static mummy prop. You think you can do it?
I could... but my dance card is full. Here is a link to a lid opener that pretty much would how I would build it. Thanks for asking. www.frightprops.com/electric-lid-opener.html
@@HALLOWEENHOWTObySaulFilms Oh well. Maybe next year. Besides, mummies are perfect for Halloween too. In fact, this year I'm setting up my front yard to resemble an ancient Egyptian tomb. Complete with a static Mummy prop in an open sarcophagus.
Amazing! I may give this build a try!
Great! Have fun with the build and thanks for watching.
Great video, one of the best I have seen. Where did you get this Skelton?
I picked it up a few years ago at a hobby store. Products and availability change year to year, however these are still available at different locations and slightly different models.
This is awesome. Thanks for sharing
And thanks for watching!
Wow!!! love it.! Thanks for uploading this! So cool.
Thank you and thanks for watching!
This is one of the best ever!
Thanks Silly, it is also one of my favorites too. Thanks for watching!
When you attached the 7" hose clamp to the bottom of the oscillating how did you get it on with the power cord being in the center of the of the base?
Hi conrad. Without seeing it, it is hard for me to accurately comment on your specific oscillating fan motor's power cord situation. For the oscillating fan that I used the power cord came out of the bottom side of the base, but high enough off of the bottom of the base for the hose clap not to interfere with it. Can you give me a bit more information as to your power cords location?
Next question. How important is the diameter of the fan and the height? I can find one in the general height range of 14" but the diameter is about 4.5 to 5" top to bottom. It's unlikely I would find one to match yours. There are some with bigger diameters, but then quite short. Thanks.
Hey Bart. You can go higher with the fan, I just did not want it to get to top heavy. The diameter of the tower fan can vary, just make sure that the skeleton's rib cage can fit over it. You may also need to change the size of the hose clamps to fit the top and bottom of the fan. Hope that helps.
NICE! Going to build a few of these if I can find the fan and baby bed thingy
I hope that you are lucky to find some afforadble 4Moms baby swings, they are out there and their movement cannot be beat. Please let me know how they turn out.
Awesome as always!
Thanks Stephen, I appreciate the support.
AWSOME! This is simple AWSOME! Thanks 🙂
Thanks Peter for watching and for the nice compliment.
Is there any way you can program the momaroo to continuously go without it stopping?
Hi MsHoneyloop. I believe the running time is pre-set for safety reasons. This would be a question for the manufacturer, here is their cintact information: www.4moms.com/pages/contact-us Just the same, thanks for watching and asking.
