That creepy voice and the woman turning around revealing herself which made rosella go into shock screaming in terror traumatised me as a child. :')
Oh those childhood memories coming back to me watching this. Lots of frustrating moments when you didn't know where to go and what to do. Back then there was no walkthroughs or guides to rely on so you pretty much had to figure things out by your own. Many times you got very lucky by randomly clicking things you never thought would actually lead to anything. I'm still occasionally humming to the music in this. Guess it's just too memorable to forget after all these years.
I loved the game because it was like playing a cartoon. That's what it felt like as a kid. The only other game similar that came out was Dragons Lair but that was mostly pretty animated scenes with frustrating reaction based events. Something would flicker and you had to press a button or time things just right. It was more of a movie than a game.

This game gets way too much hate. Honestly, I like the graphics and overall style much better than the other games. The story is amazing, the scenery is beautiful, the music is catchy, the characters are interesting... I can forgive the few plot holes because this is one of my favorite games of all time!

I was thinking more of the people even more nostalgic than me, who prefer the pixellated graphics of the earlier KQ games with its old interface and separate cursors for different actions. But that said, I agree with you about the state of modern adventure video games and I do love the bright colors and characters of KQ7!

I remember playing this game when I was a kid, and even though I cannot compare it to other King Quest games, I do recall that the same company that created this game also did "Torin's Passage", and I absolutely loved that game. What can I say? Those were different times with different standards, and because of that we are able to appreciate the memories and the uniqueness in which these were made and created. This playthrough was my first look at this game. Don't see what some of the commenters are complaining about. The only think that might have irked me was the imposed linearity, which is something KQ6 didn't have. The puzzles seemed to be sufficiently difficult, as well as the item combinations.

In 1994 I was 6 years old and this game came with our first home pc. I remember my oldest brother 13 years old saying smack the prickly fruit with the stick! And it worked we we’re all so excited… love everything about king’s Quest 7 till this day. And made me play the previous games as well.
There’s another option towards the end of the game, when you use the device to shrink Malicia(?), there’s an option to do the same to her dog so it turns into a puppy so they both start young again.

Download DosBox and you can play it on a current system. I have the King's Quest collection CD's and after installing them I can play them through that DosBox program.

I bought the game like 8-10 years ago and printed off a walkthrough jus incase I couldn't figure out what to do. I got to the part with the dragon and it's scales and I followed the walkthrough's instruction. Alas, I couldn't get further in the game. I've got the King's Quest Collection but this doesn't work with that because you need DOS or something like that. HOWEVER, I DID find a copy downloadable for free online that comes with this DOS Box thing that basically simulates DOS so that the game can play for you.

You might be able to get it to work using Dosbox. was able to get a lot of windows 98 programs working using this method. I lost my kings quest game(s) :( but I play a lot of other classics--PQ2 and 3 Tycoon Trasnport.
If they wanted a venue for THIS game, why didn't they just modify it a little and make it a sequel to the toon Discworld game? It breaks up the feel and flow most KQ players know... And it IS more than a little silly/absurd in content. At least call it "Queen's Quest"??? *shrug* Maybe it wasn't good enough to sell... (I forget who put out Discworld, but they could have sold it to whomever)

It's just the death scenes that freaked me out. For a game that looks like Disney animation, the death scenes are hella disturbing.

After a bit of research I found out that this game was animated by the same people who did the Zelda CDI game The Wand of Gamelon.

How were you able to record the General MIDI? Did you use a program other than the internal dosbox recorder?

1. you cant have the sound effects even in CD versions
2. music cant be disabled to make you hallucinate to think the games have sound effects
3. walk is too slow to play only in this game
4. you cant bypass their ads and logos
5. all garbages
Can you still play this on todays computers? I miss this game was my favorite but I never got to finish it.
You can get it on Good Old Games for modern OSes
I remeber the KQ series was more realistic for each new game. HQ6 even used actors. Then came KQ7. What a disappointment!

This was never a true Kings Quest game. Appreciate the playthrough and thumbs up for no annoying commentary but this game is baaaad
Hostile Princess Then I'm happy this is the first kings quest game I ever played :) it's so cute...the game kinda drags you in and I love the music.
after you give dr cadaver his spine go back to the pumpkin house where those kids are playing with the rat while give a little rhyme you might want to pay attention to what is a branch shaped like a snake is pointing up for goodness sake run away go and hide the boogyman will be inside meaning if you blow the grave diggers horn when the branch is up the boogyman will get you but if you blow is when the branch is down the gravedigger wiill come dont forget to rescue the cat first
