Thanks for reviewing the ever increasing list of trail acronyms and hiker lingo. Learning and using the terms seems to add to the thru hiker experience.
In regards to trail names, I’m sure you are anxious to be given a trail name unique to you and it will happen but remember you may have the opportunity to give someone else their trail name which can be just as exciting.

I agree with Jay. “Thru Hiker” is a term that is earned after doing the whole trail.

A blaze you can add is Platnum Blazing. That is a hiker that starts staying in hostels and motels every night.

    There is also Green Blazing.
Hiking while using a lot of cannabis.
You also have a "Lash" = long ass section hike
A lasher might be something like 500 miles or more
A Lasher is someone attempting a Lash

After watching many hiking videos and making observations of certain hikers, there needs to be another lingo term added to the hikers' dictionary. It is called Dunkin Blazing." For those hikers that stopped at every Dunkin Doughnuts along the trail!

Yes - a trail name is something that -someone-else- gives you - if you give it to yourself, it is just a nickname

It's your trail name only if you accept it. Someone tried to give me the trail name of "Bear" for lack of imagination and I just kind of didn't use it. I wound up with the trail name of "5am" and it stuck.

There will be a lot of Trail Angels. You will ran into a few of them. Here is a lingo that you can use to make your mark "Fair Dinkum". You will be an AT Legend when future trekkers use the lingo. No bad for a trail name eh.!? My trail name is Razorback coz hunting wild boars in the Australian outback. We tag them for research not shoot them. I think we should call you "Wombat". Go girl! Stay safe & don't forget to take a box full of masks. Be strong mate.

I'm sure you know this but you can give yourself your own trail name. My Dad gave me mine but he also gave himself his. He said he chose his name because he didn't want to be tagged with something that wasn't really who he is. The example he gave me, was a kid on the PCT was having some stomach issues and was given the trail name Sh&! pants. I know people that have a trail name but sometimes get a different trail name for a specific trail but go back to their "long term" name after. Lastly, you can give yourself a trail name until someone gives you a new one. I don't know what option I would have taken, to be honest, if my Dad hadn't given me mine. Waiting would be fun too. So many options!

You can choose your own trail name. I think you're going to be fun following. Please don't play any music, let us hear the sounds of
the forest, footsteps, breathing, moaning and groaning, simple and natural. A short intro and exit music is fine.
    Anticipation is making me wait.
