Awesome video dudes, one thing I believe most people forget about the song “24” is that Kanye has gone on record saying that the song is dedicated to Kobe. Just gives it that more emotion to me, personally.
I know the whole things already filmed but I think it’d be cool to throw in life of the party sort of as a bonus track. Kev would def be all over that track and definitely deserves a reaction!!
me too man. I honestly think Off The Grid is almost a perfect song. A lot of songs you listen to and then grow to like them but I remember listening to Off The Grid for the first time and just getting hyped up. To this day it’s still one of my favorite songs by kanye ever.
When the listening Partys started and I heard all those songs I was so crazy hyped. I loved every moment of it. When it finally came out it felt so great to listen to it. It felt bigger than anything else. I loved it. And over time I like it even more. Many songs are crazy emotional and his delivery is as emotional as in 808s. Also many songs you don’t really cared about will come closer and closer to you heart. Also the rollout showed how much power and control Ye has over everyone. Everybody talked about it. The Masks wear crazy. The livestreams. Everything.
Here’s a free content idea, it’s probably been said already but I think you and your dad making a Ye album tier list would be a great video. Id love to hear the banter and the thought process of you guys ranking the albums

Donda really is a grower as an album, I thought that many tracks were just weird, but now I appreciate nearly every track on the album, can't wait for Kevin to hear life of the party, that track got a tear in my eye. Also although I love the album it's incredible what his fans have done to it, there is a whole playlist with xxx song but better and it honestly is all I wanted from some tracks.
My friend Matt started showing me these albums in order around the time you guys started doing it and I gotta say, getting to Donda was bittersweet. I love this album but I was sad that there wouldn't be another session where I went to his house and listened to a full album in his office. Shoutout to him though, wouldn't have found you guys without him
We, as long as he hasn't passed away you guys should be able to listen to albums together, fish for some random album and then you both can listen to it, or ask him if he has heard (x) album and if he hasn't then you get to watch him react to it. 😃👍
@@elijahproto haha I mean true but it was just a different vibe. I’m sure we’ll do Donda 2 as well but it’s a bummer we can’t do it whenever we want anymore
So “SUPPOSEDLY” the Donda chant was his mother’s heartbeat right before she passed… How true that is? Not sure but IF true incredibly sad yet genius all at once… Loved this album glad you guys reviewed it…
24 made me cry the first time i heard it. Something ab “were gonna be okay” coming from kanye during a pretty dark time in the world it was just a different feel
When it comes to Baby Keems verse on Praise God, it was originally a reference track for Kanye to do, but Ye liked the way Keem performed it so much that he kept it in the song, so yes Baby Keem is speaking from Kanye's perspective on that song
Alot of artists are speaking from Kanye's perspective on this song. I think that's one of the reasons why I wasn't as bothered about this record having so many features. Kanye is using these people as a vessel to portray the emotions he feels
@@JMartinJ yes this is true too, features on Ye albums usually speak from his perspective, I said this more as a fun fact because they singled out Baby Keem specifically in the video
Because lyrics are no where near as good as on CD, LR, Graduation or KSG. It his least focused album conceptually. The mixing is really bad. I love Kanye and I like Donda but it’s nowhere near top 5 in Ye’s discog
@@leorrocher this is like objectively untrue. Lyrics on off the grid, Jesus lord, come to life are top tier Kanye. Donda has lyricist Kanye as well as ignorant Kanye… much like TLOP. I mean, overall the albums you mentioned are better lyrically but to say Donda is nowhere near in quality is just not true. The mixing is bad in like one spot on pure souls. Other than that there is nothing overtly “really bad.”
Donda is such a phenomenal album. It has some of Kanye’s best tracks ever and it’s themes are really powerful throughout the album (but it does have some lows as well)
Best 14 songs on Donda 1.Come to Life 2.Hurricane 3.Jesus Lord 4.OFF The Grid 5.Life of the Party 6.Jail 7.24 8.Moon 9.Praise God 10.Heaven & Hell 11.Pure Souls 12.Belive What l Say 13.Lord l need you 14.No Child Left Behind

miss this kanye, the kanye still devoted to christ. a bit of filler, but DONDA is still one of my favorite listens ever. came out in one of the darkest points of my life and lifted me up. thank you, kanye
This makes me a little emotional being that it was a Kanye video that made me discover this channel and what a journey it has been. You guys have been absolutely killing it and I'm so grateful for this channel. thank you guys, truly ❤️
I think this video is a great display of what Kanye would've sought out to see his fans do with this album. If Kanye could, he definitely would have wanted to see and hear his own mother's reaction to the album he so endearingly dedicated to her. RIP Donda and another amazing reaction video from Connor and Kevin. You guys always kill it with the live reactions!
To me Donda Chant is special because it's his mother's name said with many different inflections. At one point the voice sounds sweet and comforting (like a mother's love) and at other moments it sounds like someone yearning to see their loved ones who have passed once again. This is further reinforced in the Listening Parties where he was sitting down dressed in all black crying infront of thousands of people. Donda Chant was a moment of silence per se where the whole stadium was in complete silence and all you could hear was Donda's name. It was one of the most touching and heartbreaking moments of the entire show. It's a shame to me that it has been reduced to a joke and meme to the internet community. It's simple while being powerful. Kanye never got to mourn his mother's passing until this album.
When your dad talks about Jay-Z, it's definitely accurate. While rappers like Kendrick and Logic (as he mentioned) like to rap over a beat and sit in front of it; a really refreshing thing about Jay-Z is that he tends to let a beat breath and rap behind/underneath it. On top of that Jay-Z has always had solid bars. Been watching the channel for a few months now, you guys are awesome :)
once donda is over, you guys should do some wrap up stuff, like albums ranked, top 5 best/worst 10 best songs, verses. not all but just since its been such a journey an epilogue seems fitting
I really think that your dad would love House of Balloons by The Weeknd. Trilogy is long, but House of Ballon’s and Echoes of silence are something that I’m sure a lot of us have never heard before. It’s breath taking and nothing like Dawn fm that y’all reacted to. Love yalls videos ❤️
24 is one of my favorites off the album. Kanye's devotion to God is apparent and I love the sheer noise of the distorted choir. The music video is a nod to the video game "Only One" he was going to create out of respect for Donda and is generally a very surreal experience. I also think it's important to mention that the song is likely a reference to the late Kobe Bryant, a legend of basketball. Both Kobe and Donda helped shape Kanye and have instilled him with honest values. Donda as a project is very chaotic and loose for interpretation, similar to TLOP. I think Donda suffers from some "fat" songs that aren't interesting and partially detract from the religious and respectful themes of the album (Junya, Tell The Vision, pt 2 tracks). Other of my favorites include Moon, Come to Life, Heaven and Hell, Hurricane, Off The Grid, and Pure Souls. Make sure to show your Dad the deluxe tracks. I prefer the original order of the album, but the deluxe tracks (Life Of The Party, Up From The Ashes, etc.) are strong. Thank you for consistently putting out great content TTT and for inspiring my deep love for music and the deeper experience behind it.
@@johnnytest3230 Not everyone is into the religious and atmospheric gospel of Kanye's newer work. TTT wasn't too crazy about JIK either, but I love that project. It's Kanye's worst project, but still better than most artists. Upshot is that different people have different life experiences. Kevin has previously mentioned that certain music simply does or doesn't click, and I think that's totally fair. We all have unique tastes and that's what makes music interesting.
Can't believe y'all been on here for just 10 months. It seems like y'all been in my life for a loooong time. Sometimes, I find myself thinking "Kevin will like this part" when I'm listening to a new song. Thanks for all the good vibes, guys!
You should tell him a lot of the songs where last minute. During the listening parties he kept adding artists and I think that’s what’s so special it was what they feeling in that moment
The first part of the album has kind of this dark, dystopian vibe to it while after Ok Ok the album takes on a more optimistic, hopeful tone and there are also more gospel inspired and religious elements to the album. You can especially see this by contrasting the first song and last song. It feels like a Kanye is lifting himself up from a dark place of grief through god and religion. Overall the album has this very grand, larger than life but also minimalistic and stripped back production which is probably my favourite aspect of the album besides the dystopian asthetic of the first part. There are a few songs like remote control, junya and tell the vision and all of the part 2 stuff and the strange rearranging of the album in the deluxe which really bog this album down. But if you pay enough attention the album is cohesive in some aspects especially production, while lyrically it is a mixed bag of some verses that could fit any album, others being fitting but kind of bland "Jesus is king" type verses (24 is severely underrated though, don't just dismiss it just because it's a gospel song. It's a homage to Kobe and his mother) and some which just belong (Andre 3000 The life of the party or Kanye on Jesus Lord, Come To Life). So overall I wouldn't really say that this album is "all over the place" or not cohesive.

Loved the reaction to Baby Keem's exorcism throughout the song, that was my most anticipated moment aside from when you get to Come To Life, where I definitely anticipate tears. Can't wait for Pt. 2
the keem verse was actually a reference track he wrote and recorded for kanye and wasnt originally meant to be released, but kanye liked the vibe and keems voice so he made the decision to leave it in and feature keem, the whole tame impala, bada boom thing is him trying to find a flow, not sure if you'll see this, hope it helps !
Donda is supposed to be a trilogy, and he's still working on Donda 2. So we'll possibly (since its ye) be getting Donda 2 (finished), 3 and probably one last album after that as i don't think he'll end it at donda 3 (it just doesn't feel right as a final album title), but who knows at this point it's ye. He could just decide to upload the original version of Lift Yourself tomorrow and leave

I found them a bit before donda, and as soon as it came out, i was waiting for this too
I know the whole things already filmed but I think it’d be cool to throw in life of the party sort of as a bonus track. Kev would def be all over that track and definitely deserves a reaction!!
End of part 2 they listen to it 😊
Also would love to see what the dad thinks of Cudi's verse on remote control pt 2
THEY REACTED TO IT, ITS COMING IN PART 2
sorry for all caps i didnt notice lol
Oh god, I wish I could hear Off The Grid for the first time again.
me too man. I honestly think Off The Grid is almost a perfect song. A lot of songs you listen to and then grow to like them but I remember listening to Off The Grid for the first time and just getting hyped up. To this day it’s still one of my favorite songs by kanye ever.
I was at the airport trying so hard to not start screaming during Ye's verse I couldn't believe my ears
Everything.
that was a nice era ngl
Here’s a free content idea, it’s probably been said already but I think you and your dad making a Ye album tier list would be a great video. Id love to hear the banter and the thought process of you guys ranking the albums

this ^^
Nah. I feel like his dad at least has to sit with the music for a while longer.
@@mocapcow2933 I never said when they should do it, just that it would be cool
cant believe it’s already been 9 months since i watched you guys sit down for mbdtf. this has been an awesome experience. thank you connor and kevin for taking the time to chronicle this music journey and taking us all along for the ride!! looking forward to the artists you guys choose to dive into next ;)
What's the playlist?
I’d also like to know where to find the playlist
@@itzlongi idk if a link would work but it's just called "Donda, but better" and the videos are by a user called maux.
You said "nearly"every track because of Tell the Vision, didn't you? Lol

It would be awesome if your dad make his own tier list of kanye albums now that he have listened to all of them
Awesome idea,
Yes
up
Good idea
@@janno7214 for sure. Was just expanding on what you said about Keem. Love this album
i love the robotic sound of remote control so much and it gives the whole song if not the whole album a futuristic feeling
finally someone says something positive about this song
@@emmettfallah7975 people hate giving out something positive about music, instead they just hate on it.
Agreed, personally, the minimalism and grittiness make it sound post-apocalyptic to me. amazing vibe plus shwabble dabble dooble daable da
24 is him holding on to the hope that his mother is waiting for him and that he’ll see her again and as i just lost my brother it’s beautiful
DONDA is gonna age so well. The LPs were a moment but listening back now I can see the direction and appreciate it even more
I don’t get how some people don’t like this album, it’s a top 3 Kanye for me, the production, the lyrics, the rollout is all amazing
Not top 3 for me but my god this album amazing
Because lyrics are no where near as good as on CD, LR, Graduation or KSG. It his least focused album conceptually. The mixing is really bad. I love Kanye and I like Donda but it’s nowhere near top 5 in Ye’s discog
It’s my favorite kanye album. I’ve been listening to it for so long now
Has some great songs but they are overshadowed by some of the filler songs in it
@@leorrocher this is like objectively untrue.

This makes me a little emotional being that it was a Kanye video that made me discover this channel and what a journey it has been. You guys have been absolutely killing it and I'm so grateful for this channel. thank you guys, truly ❤️
This has been such an incredible journey so sad it’s over but glad I was able to witness it
Seeing dad vibe to Off The Grid made my day
I think this video is a great display of what Kanye would've sought out to see his fans do with this album. If Kanye could, he definitely would have wanted to see and hear his own mother's reaction to the album he so endearingly dedicated to her. RIP Donda and another amazing reaction video from Connor and Kevin. You guys always kill it with the live reactions!
I experienced Kanye for the first time with you guys for the most part. It was a fun journey; thank you for giving me this experience.
🫡
Kevin describing a drill beat without knowing what a drill beat is makes my whole day.
I also heard the donda chant is in the cadence of his mothers last heartbeats.
I love junya it’s so catchy and fun to sing
MMM MMMM🤩
fr they heavy sleeping on junya
frrr. it’s so overhated
Love the fart bass
When your dad talks about Jay-Z, it's definitely accurate. While rappers like Kendrick and Logic (as he mentioned) like to rap over a beat and sit in front of it; a really refreshing thing about Jay-Z is that he tends to let a beat breath and rap behind/underneath it. On top of that Jay-Z has always had solid bars. Been watching the channel for a few months now, you guys are awesome :)
My guys!!! I have been waiting for this reaction! Also let’s get back into the La Flame world
once donda is over, you guys should do some wrap up stuff, like albums ranked, top 5 best/worst 10 best songs, verses. not all but just since its been such a journey an epilogue seems fitting
Can’t wait for the Watch the Throne reaction. The production is something special on that album.

Now that he has listened to all of Kanye's albums you guys should do a ranking, it'd be interesting to see how you two compare!

They dismissed 24 so quickly, such a shame
@@johnnytest3230 Not everyone is into the religious and atmospheric gospel of Kanye's newer work. TTT wasn't too crazy about JIK either, but I love that project. It's Kanye's worst project, but still better than most artists. Upshot is that different people have different life experiences. Kevin has previously mentioned that certain music simply does or doesn't click, and I think that's totally fair. We all have unique tastes and that's what makes music interesting.
It was disappointing how much they don’t appreciate 24
man it broke my heart to see them kinda dismiss 24 so quickly 😢😢
39:26 you can see the time code switch perfectly to when he says "Moon"
Moon was my favourite song on this album. Something so beautiful about it. It's perfect

Can't believe y'all been on here for just 10 months. It seems like y'all been in my life for a loooong time. Sometimes, I find myself thinking "Kevin will like this part" when I'm listening to a new song. Thanks for all the good vibes, guys!
This journey through Kanye's discography has been refreshing and amazing. Love the genuine reaction. Keep it up!
You should tell him a lot of the songs where last minute. During the listening parties he kept adding artists and I think that’s what’s so special it was what they feeling in that moment
I listened to donda on repeat when my father died, watching this video of you connecting with your father is doing something to me
Sorry to hear that man, praying for you
Hey man I know it's a been a year but I just wanted to say I hope you're doing better and continuing to get a little better each day❤
The first part of the album has kind of this dark, dystopian vibe to it while after Ok Ok the album takes on a more optimistic, hopeful tone and there are also more gospel inspired and religious elements to the album.
So overall I wouldn't really say that this album is "all over the place" or not cohesive.
trash review, tell me the only genre you listen to is rap ("no i actually like other music too, like [insert some of the most popular artists of any genre here]") without telling me the only genre you listen to is rap
@@aDriveAway This has literally nothing to do with the review at all. They gave their opinion of the album based on their thoughts and feelings.
Also looking down on people for only listening to one genre of music is elitist and gatekeepy as fuck. Im sorry most people aren't shitty music snobs like anthony fantano and listen to 10 albums of each genre of music a day. Let people enjoy music.

the keem verse was actually a reference track he wrote and recorded for kanye and wasnt originally meant to be released, but kanye liked the vibe and keems voice so he made the decision to leave it in and feature keem, the whole tame impala, bada boom thing is him trying to find a flow, not sure if you'll see this, hope it helps !
The end of Kanye as we know it. This journey has been very fun and it’s been great to see Kevin experience Kanye’s discography.
