These stories are pretty much all the same, man.
It's almost always about someone who says they were lacking something in life, indicating emotional vulnerabilities, which exposed them to the risk of adopting whatever may appear to satisfy that empty feeling.
The stories of people who found "Jesus" almost always come from people who were either raised in a Christian family, or were raised in a majority Christian environment. This shows that they began with a bias in favour of a particular belief system. It's just like how a Muslim will tell the story of their conversion after years of rebellion, and 99% of the time, they were raised in a Muslim family, and/or in a Muslim country. It's not surprising that they'd have an initial bias that lead them in that specific direction, is it?
And then the fallacious justifications come out. The basic Theistic arguments that have been shown to be fundamentally flawed countless times, yet they're presented as compelling reasons to accept and commit to certain claims.
I understand that these stories convey an impactful, personal journey that was profound and meaningful to the individual. But to my ears, I hear a story about a person who was emotionally vulnerable being snatched up by a belief system that preys on people's vulnerabilities. A belief system that offers them comfort and contentment in exchange for their total, unwavering commitment.
When a Muslim tells their story, or when a Christian tells theirs, I see them as no different to any other person who was convinced to join a cult. Fundamentally, the same tactics are used, and the stories are principally the same. From the way these stories play out, it's clear that "truth" wasn't the goal when there's so much focus on the emotional satisfaction, or when the stated reasons for convincement are fallacious and poorly-supported. It's quite sad that so many people are willing to relinquish control of their lives and their critical faculties for these empty promises.
