Kai never became evil out of nowhere. He was always power hungry. It was Oogway who changed after arriving at the panda village.
Sure. All the names he was refering to (beast of vengeance, maker of widows) must be from a time BEFORE they met the pandas, and Oogway was fine with that.

Most people think that Kai is a generic villain but that is not true. Kai is the oposite of Po in this movie. Po formed his legacy as the Dragon Warrior and everyone knows him like Oogway is still remembered as the founder of Kung Fu. On the other hand, Kai also accomplish many great things as a warrior and an army general, but because he wanted more and more power, he was erased of history by Oogway who didn't told anyone about him or built statues or wrote books to maintain his legacy alive, so is like Kai never existed and blames that on Oogway for destroying his legacy and the pandas for turning Oogway against him. Since he's not remembered and doesn't have a history and legacy, Kai is like an empty shell who needs to take the personality and legacy from the other masters in the form of chi and turning them into slave jade zombies who also are an empty shell like him in order to be satisfied, along with also having revenge against Oogway by destroying everything he's built (Jade Palace, his students and his Kung Fu teachings) and the pandas for turning Oogway against him by stealing their chi too.
I agree with this theory heavily and was about to comment it he has these dark nicknames yet he got all these nicknames between the time oogway was healed and when oogway defeated him I don’t see this being a possibility but oogway getting enlightened and becoming good after getting saved and him being a warlord with Kai is a lot more plausible.
So? Just because Oogway changed doesn't make it right for Kai to just take whatever he wanted
This has one of my favorite lessons in the series. When Mr. Ping (Po’s goose dad 😄) says, “It doesn’t mean less for me. It means more for Po.” I love that 🥲 ❤️

It's the weakest of the three by a country mile story wise, but it's also the most visually inventive and Po's trip to the Spirit Realm is pure wish fulfilment. I'm actually skeptical about a 4th installment, the 3rd one wrapped up Po's journey pretty neatly, and I'm an advocate for the "quit while you're ahead" school of thought. They got away with it here, but the law of diminishing returns suggests that #4 could be a let down.

Po’s real Father talks about the picture of him at 100 days old. It is kind of a celebration of a first birthday. I was a little cutie at 100 days old. I can’t share a picture of it but you’ll have to take my word. lol
Oogway can actually go back if he really wanted to because in this series hes the 1 strongest and toughest character actually but he stated he would go back if they really need him back like if po dies somehow actually and the enemy is stronger than the rest of them then ya he would return to fight again

It has been rumored that “Kung Fu Panda” did so well in China, their Govt. Had an emergency meeting to discuss how the US is now making better Martial Arts movies than them. They did respond with a great Kung Fu movie series called “Ip Man”, starring Donnie Yen. Which tells the story of Bruce Lee’s Wing Chun Master Yip Man (albeit a very very romanticized version) There were four movies made total with a prequel or two if I’m not mistaken. While the sequels didn’t receive as much critical praise they’re still well done. So if you love Poe you’ll definitely enjoy “Ip Man”

Qi or "breath of life" is a vital energy that the Chinese have believed in for a very long time. It plays a key role in traditional Chinese medicine and martial arts. The art of mastering Qi is a very old martial art called "Qigong", which may or may not be accurately portrayed in this movie, but it's an interesting subject to research.
This was actually supposed to be a double trilogy. 6 movies in all basically. It was supposed to be like that since the beginning
Po’s fighting style is based on Dragon style kung fu. There is no panda style, but you are right on him doing his own style of kung fu. Using his unique traits to his advantage.

In case you didn't notice Kai actually had Tai Lung's Chi. So he had already found and defeated Tail Lung at some point in the spirit realm. Yet he didn't use Oogway or Tai Lung's chi because they may have been too powerful and he needed powerful sources on him at all times to maintain himself in the mortal realm. As it stands those two and Po are the biggest sources of Chi so all three of them were clear targets.
Fun fact Tai Lung's pressure point attack he used on the Furious Five was actually a technique that blocks a person's Chi. As a result they are immobolized. So the fact that he could use Chi based attacks made him an even bigger target for Kai aside from his already greatly powerful Chi.

Notice how the first movie focused on Shifu's past, the second movie on Po's past, and the third movie on Oogway's past.

There is a theory Kai never used Tai Lung or Oogway as Jade zombies because they would have been strong enough to break free. For me it would have made the movie perfect if they found a way to make Tai Lung a more crucial character for Poe's spiritual development in this movie. Kai was powerful, but he's not the strongest villain in the Kung Fu Panda universe in my humble opinion.
I think he has to have oogway because he cant stay in the mortal relm without his chi
I think it would of been amazing if tai lung came back and was reformed by what he learned from po... just as po learned and became better from oogooway it would be amazing to see Tai lung takeover from po. it would also complete po's journey and an important lesson to know when it's not your destiny just as oogooway did

The theory I heard for Oogway was Kai still respected him too much to use him like a puppet. Would’ve been cool to see Tai Lung fight Po once more or at least see him fight Kai
Update 12/16: The trailer for the fourth film has been released. I believe a couple of days ago.
I'm not sure if this is a spoiler, or if it's been confirmed, but just in case. . .
I read that the 4th film will have Po training a new Dragon Warrior. Which will be interesting, since the films revolve around Po; perhaps he becomes a new Oogway-type mentor.

Nope you are correct a 4th is currently in production to be released next summer. I think this was supposed to be the last one but they probably threw around ideas over the years and finally got it.

Leave it at 3. A trilogy works to tell the story. When they do more and more and more, they just dilute the character and story.

I was disappointed it was Bryan Cranston that voiced Po's father in this, instead of Fred Tatasciore, who voiced the father in KFP2.

As much as i love and prefere the first Kung Fu Panda over the other two movies... mostly for sentimental reasons, i think this is a rare case of a trilogy, where every movies is better than the one before ❤
