My wife has a used one. A 2012. We’ve had it for three years now. She bought it with 75,000 miles and it has 128,000 miles on it presently. We’ve had very good luck with it and the only thing that is left us stranded with it was when she accidentally ran it out of gas. She just made it through a blizzard with it. It’s been a great car for us. 10/10 definitely would recommend.
For those who think it's a sports car: Nah, this car is meant for those who drive a lot for work and don't want to spend too much money on gas. It's literally a commuter car. It gets the job done that is pretty much it.
@@LynxStarAuto Where I live there are a lot of crazy curvy roads and even if you drove a sportiest of sports cars you would rarely get up to 60. Think Monte Carlo if you watch WRC. So maybe my "sports car" requirements are probably different than yours. And most city vehicles are sub 100hp here in Europe so this is quite decent in performance.
Dad bought a premium model new in 2011 (first 10 in USA). Now, it's mine with 154k miles. Thing has been bulletproof. Still gets good mileage, survived Baltimore, and aged well enough to look good at my first corporate job.
I've had my 2013 CT FSport for about 5 years now, bought it at 30k miles, its currently at 168k miles, no issues besides Regualr Maintenance, I will take her to the shop to check her battery conditions though, just to be safe, but overall rock solid commute vehicle, I recommend it 👍
The short answer is YES. These are among the best cars ever produced. It's a travesty that they didn't offer them with the Toyota Matrix engine and AWD drivetrain. They would have flown out the doors. The good part about Toyota's failure of marketing team is that they are fairly unknown and inexpensive to pick up. I bought one smashed in the front from auction with 6K miles on it back in 2016 for $11K, invested about $4000 to fix it and it now has about 80K miles on it and runs like a top. I'm seriously considering getting one with no motor and swapping a Prius Prime electric drivetrain in it. There was a company that had a method of hacking the Prius computer that allowed EV mode at all speeds and they were getting a tested average of around 100MPG with the hack in place. Sadly, the Internet has been stolen by big tech companies and the government and now it is pretty much dead. There isn't really anywhere to get uncensored knowledge anymore.
I own a 2011 CT 200 H. It has 140,000 miles and has been trouble free; in fact, I just replaced the rear struts for the first time last month. The front brakes lasted 50,000 miles and the rear brakes lasted 90,000. Only complaint… It has the acceleration of my old 1974 VW beetle. Sport mode helps a little bit.
This is by far the most popular lexus selling in Europe and I was really curious about your thoughts on this car cuz all the other reviews over here say that this car is crap cuz of the cvt and the lack of sportiness which this doesn't try to have, this segment is still popular here and the rivals of this car are diesels that use more fuel, have less power and don't even remotely come close to this car interior yet they cost the same on the used market cuz nobody buys lexus over here. Yes I can see it being popular in Europe well actually Europe doesn't even get a lot standard Gas only engines that are offered in the states. And good point you brought up, amongst 80-90 HP diesel compacts, this all of a sudden looks like a rocket in comparison lol
@@MeynMotorGroup I'm giving you an example, the a class hatchback base model has 90hp from a Renault 3 cyl diesel or some shit but they have a lot of trim levels and even in diesel you can get almost 200hp but the major difference is on the interior, germans cut out interior quality to keep prices competitive lexus simply puts the same old quality in it without cheapin out, you see a CT in 500 a classes here. Yes we don't get the v6s here, there's no way the average Joe can daily drive a 3.5litre engine with this gas prices the only cars running gas you can see here is those 1 liter 3 cyl and other smalls engines. If you have a 6cyl here in Portugal you're rich😂😂

As an owner of a 2017 CT for several years, I can tell you you're wrong about 2 points - low grade gas is fine (it does NOT require premium) and it gets better gas mileage on the highway than in the city
Went from my honda accord to 2015 ct i have to say very happy with it , a pleasure to drive , it won't win a drag race but no issues passing out cars .
My friend has a CT200h with the Lexus infotainment screen and it definitely makes it look better from the inside, but honestly, he enjoys it for the fuel economy, because he told me how much money he's saving because of this vehicle. Not the most luxurious like other Lexus vehicles, but that's not the mission of the CT, it's more of a commuter car that everyone will enjoy living with, but you'll still get respect for driving it because it's a Lexus.
Just lost my C class Benz in a T-bone, and in 2024 premium gas is still $5.49 a gallon where I live. Hence my interest in a quality made, good handling car that gets 43mpg. My research says their CVT is the best ever built and virtually unbreakable. Entire car is rated equally high by multiple testing sources.
I have a "13, and love it! Even though it's not that fast, it's sport-tuned suspension makes it fun to drive. It handles like it's on rails. Honestly, you have the worst example of a CT I've ever seen. I've never seen one without a sunroof. Mine has heated seats with memory, parking sensors,10-speaker premium audio, and rain sensing wipers. I looked at an ES300h, but it was too big. Also, it's an "old man's car."
I think of the CT as an "old woman's car." Like a little old lady must drive that slow or some dude who used to have a Corolla stepping up to a Lexus floors the thing at every stoplight.
Also, I’ve had a few CT’s now, never seen anywhere where it mentions it needs premium. It takes 87 per the owners manual and sticker on the fuel cap. Curious what Lexus handbook you saw that in.
I’ve got a 16’ F-sport loaded w/ nav, premium audio, & sunroof that I drive in So-Cal. It’s a fantastic daily driver for someone that lives in a dense urban landscape that has the luxury of keeping multiple cars. I have an modded S2000 & an LS7 swapped FD Rx7 for the times I desire to drive something more “engaging”
This car is hella fun and with the right tires and in turbo is a blast. Handling is excellent. Self maintenance is amazingly easy. Hybrid batteries are not too pricey and you can find lifetime warranty options. One of the best cars I’ve ever had. The storage space moved my apartment all but couches. No regrets getting my 2015.
I honestly love the look of these, thinking about getting one with how crazy gas is getting - i live in the city so im sitting in traffic half the time anyway so power is kind of irrelevant.
My wife’s CT200h is a 2012 model year with less than 26,000 miles, YES 26,000 miles, It is in IMMACULATE condition looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. She loves it and if she could get it through the front door I am sure she would take it to bed with her. The ONLY thing that has ever been done apart from regular maintenance was to replace the 12Volt battery. We have only had to replace one tire which was damaged by a broken kerb stone, the rest of the original tires are in very good condition. I have a few questions: Should we sell it, trade it or keep it. What is the life of the traction battery likely to be? We have had NO PROBLEMS and the traction battery seems to work perfectly. Oh yes it’s white without the Navigation option. Considering it is based on the Prius which is arguably one of the ugliest cars ever made, the CT is the CUTEST small car ever. One more thing, my wife’s car has the original small radiator grill not the HIDEOUS SHARKS MOUTH GRILL that all Lexus have now.
It is still being sold, just not in America. I have a 2013 CT that’s run on regular, and average 48-50 mpg. Extremely reliable and pleasant commuter car.
@2:48 It is not a performance car but more like luxury economy car. It actually has over 180 HP but can only use 134 HP at a time, unless you probably want to slowly destroy the e-cvt tranny.

Just bought a nebula grey and parchment 2017 ct200h with 14000 miles in Denver CO, so far I love it, I've gotten fuel effiency up to 50 mpg and it really is a great car. Paid about 21000 for it because of the low mileage which I think is about fair. It's a neich market that's for sure. This is my first car though, at 16, and it's sporty looking without being fast so my parents weren't afraid I would rack up tickets and with sport mode it just handles so well and is just fun to drive. I highly recommend!
I love the looks of these. From a 500 HP Subaru to this is extremely boring but I am fine with it. It's reliable, it has amazing MPG, and it's cute. I love it.
I’m thinking about trading in my FBO GTI for one of these. It’s getting up there in miles and I’m spending too much on maintenance and about $150 a week on gas. Always liked the CT, but I know I’ll miss the hell out of my GTI 😢
You used to catch these 3 y/o CT’s CPO with 30k for $19k After my dads civic lease he had his heart set on one of these, till he drove one, he did like how it drove, he liked driving the civic better. He ended up spending a little more and getting an ES350 and then he was impressed. CT still a good car, good economy, great quality and features, but it’s small and the drive could be better.
When you were flooring it did you have it in sport mode? Sport mode makes a HUGE difference in power. I keep mine in eco since I noticed I get almost 400 miles on 8 gallons when i keep it in eco but I'll put it in sport when I'm trying to overtake cars on the highway or accelerate on an empty highway and have no issue with power, feels super sporty in sport mode. Only thing i really hate about this car is the rear passenger room and the hideous stock stereo. I found a really good looking touch screen carplay stereo replacement that I love though.

How roomy is it compared to a 2009 is 250 for the driver and passenger? I love this car, but i dont think i could go smaller than what the IS 250 has to offer.
I want one. But I can't find one for sale in South Africa. Not a single one even though they sold a lot of them. Which either means they're all junk, OR more likely that the owners don't want to let them go.
Funny how everyone say's it underpowerd, people forget that the engine and electric motor combined produces 350nm of torque and i must say that i live in the netherlands and i dont have to deal with steep mountain roads so its mabey because of that i think it isnt underpowerd.

It's a simple mix of Prius and IS. I own a 13 and it's been bullet proof thus far, if you don't mind the slow acceleration. Lexus gave me lifetime powertrain warranty that includes even the battery. I have 67k miles and haven't used it once.
With the new IS500 coming, a CT500 would have been awesome. I think the ct is styled great but the lack of engine options hurt its popularity/sales. I had this and a prius c at the same time (the ct is now with my sis) and this is way better of a commuting car. Of course the interior isnt even comparable.

The battery is designed to last the vehicle’s life. As long as it is driven more or less regularly the battery will be fine. There are priuses (same drivetrain and battery) with 400k+ miles and on original battery
If u do Lexus service u get free battery health check which gives warrantee extended every time u service up to ten yrs or 100k miles in the uk not sure about stateside 😊
Bought a 2017 L/Certified with only 24k miles in May It is a great car, a little underwhelming interior wise for a Lexus. Wanting to get something bigger cause this thing is gutless in the mountains with just my wife and I. Can't imagine if we had friends and gear on a ski trip

I think the easiest will be to spot the badges between the front wheels and doors and the F sport steering wheel. It has a badge at the lower part and perforated leather on the sides.
Only If You Can Find A Certified Pre Owned One from A Lexus Dealer.,W/ Extended Warranty.There Was An Issue W/ Blown Head Gaskets on this Model,Saw One @ Dealer in Atl.& It Had A 36 or 48 Premium Warrant ,Because Was Certified by Lexus.Then,If Head Gasket Goes South During the Extended Warr,Dealer Has to Repair it,on Them.

the newer ones are 100% not worth it because its so dated compared to other cars that came out at the same time. the infotainment sucks and there are no modern safety features other than the backup cam from 2005. for the same price as the 2014-2017 models you can get a much better car. the 2011-2013 is however a good buy! great mpg and reliability.
I'm curious...why do you say that the 2011-2013 version is the better buy? I thought the mpg and reliability was the same across the board...unless there's something about the older models vs the newer ones I don't know about. I ask because I have a 2011 and somewhat regretted not going for a newer model.

Super review again of this economical prestige hatchback. Not the most exciting drive but cheap to run and still has the usual Lexus refinements. This is the sort of car FBI informant Raymond Curto (RIP) would order for his wife after blaming his pitiful kickup to Tony on a struggling economy. Classy but not too harsh on the purse strings.
My ct 200h was flawless for 5 years. At about 120k took it in to get some coils replaced and was told I needed a new engine. Maintained the car religiously and still only lasted 120k miles. Do not buy these with high miles and make sure you have a warranty. Got a 2019 nx300 f sport so far so good
Think they lied to you bro, how did you go for coils/suspension and get told your engine is messed when it was in good condition when you got there ? Prius same engine last more then 200k miles

We have had NO PROBLEMS and the traction battery seems to work perfectly.
Oh yes it’s white without the Navigation option.
Considering it is based on the Prius which is arguably one of the ugliest cars ever made, the CT is the CUTEST small car ever.
One more thing, my wife’s car has the original small radiator grill not the HIDEOUS SHARKS MOUTH GRILL that all Lexus have now.

It is still being sold, just not in America. I have a 2013 CT that’s run on regular, and average 48-50 mpg. Extremely reliable and pleasant commuter car.

@2:48 It is not a performance car but more like luxury economy car. It actually has over 180 HP but can only use 134 HP at a time, unless you probably want to slowly destroy the e-cvt tranny.

Just bought a nebula grey and parchment 2017 ct200h with 14000 miles in Denver CO, so far I love it, I've gotten fuel effiency up to 50 mpg and it really is a great car. Paid about 21000 for it because of the low mileage which I think is about fair. It's a neich market that's for sure. This is my first car though, at 16, and it's sporty looking without being fast so my parents weren't afraid I would rack up tickets and with sport mode it just handles so well and is just fun to drive. I highly recommend!

I’m thinking about trading in my FBO GTI for one of these. It’s getting up there in miles and I’m spending too much on maintenance and about $150 a week on gas. Always liked the CT, but I know I’ll miss the hell out of my GTI 😢
Still don’t know why they didn’t use the 2.0 turbo engine in this for a CT200t, would’ve been so much more fun to drive and still get great mpg

My biggest concerns about this car is the head gasket and the battery pack.

After my dads civic lease he had his heart set on one of these, till he drove one, he did like how it drove, he liked driving the civic better.
He ended up spending a little more and getting an ES350 and then he was impressed.
CT still a good car, good economy, great quality and features, but it’s small and the drive could be better.
Yes ES is fantastic that and the RX are some of their best work practically but I agree this serves as a cool and efficient city car

When you were flooring it did you have it in sport mode? Sport mode makes a HUGE difference in power. I keep mine in eco since I noticed I get almost 400 miles on 8 gallons when i keep it in eco but I'll put it in sport when I'm trying to overtake cars on the highway or accelerate on an empty highway and have no issue with power, feels super sporty in sport mode. Only thing i really hate about this car is the rear passenger room and the hideous stock stereo. I found a really good looking touch screen carplay stereo replacement that I love though.

These cars are still sold new in Europe (Jan. 2021).
It's a simple mix of Prius and IS. I own a 13 and it's been bullet proof thus far, if you don't mind the slow acceleration. Lexus gave me lifetime powertrain warranty that includes even the battery. I have 67k miles and haven't used it once.
You'll have no problem at all with this car. Super reliable!

With the new IS500 coming, a CT500 would have been awesome. I think the ct is styled great but the lack of engine options hurt its popularity/sales.
I had this and a prius c at the same time (the ct is now with my sis) and this is way better of a commuting car. Of course the interior isnt even comparable.

The battery is designed to last the vehicle’s life. As long as it is driven more or less regularly the battery will be fine.
There are priuses (same drivetrain and battery) with 400k+ miles and on original battery
If u do Lexus service u get free battery health check which gives warrantee extended every time u service up to ten yrs or 100k miles in the uk not sure about stateside 😊

I think the easiest will be to spot the badges between the front wheels and doors and the F sport steering wheel. It has a badge at the lower part and perforated leather on the sides.
Only If You Can Find A Certified Pre Owned One from A Lexus Dealer.,W/ Extended Warranty.There Was An Issue W/ Blown Head Gaskets on this Model,Saw One @ Dealer in Atl.& It Had A 36 or 48 Premium Warrant ,Because Was Certified by Lexus.Then,If Head Gasket Goes South During the Extended Warr,Dealer Has to Repair it,on Them.
You can find them this one was but this car as a whole is pretty rare since they didn't sell many
2011 to 2015 yes you could have a head gasket failure if you let the EGR valve clog up. 2016 and up have less chance of having this problem.

the newer ones are 100% not worth it because its so dated compared to other cars that came out at the same time. the infotainment sucks and there are no modern safety features other than the backup cam from 2005. for the same price as the 2014-2017 models you can get a much better car. the 2011-2013 is however a good buy! great mpg and reliability.

I thought the mpg and reliability was the same across the board...unless there's something about the older models vs the newer ones I don't know about. Super review again of this economical prestige hatchback. Not the most exciting drive but cheap to run and still has the usual Lexus refinements. This is the sort of car FBI informant Raymond Curto (RIP) would order for his wife after blaming his pitiful kickup to Tony on a struggling economy. Classy but not too harsh on the purse strings.

My ct 200h was flawless for 5 years. At about 120k took it in to get some coils replaced and was told I needed a new engine. Maintained the car religiously and still only lasted 120k miles. Do not buy these with high miles and make sure you have a warranty. Got a 2019 nx300 f sport so far so good
