@@TofuProductionCinema People always complaining about how slow the car is. Speed is obviously not why you buy this particular car. I wanted something economical while not looking ugly. And the sport mode gives me enough pep to do the passing I need. Also, you can find great deals on used CTs. A low mileage Lexus - no matter the year - is basically like new.

@renewer At the rate they break these days, yes. I do believe majority of modern cars have mechanical and electrical bits, but they are far from engineered.
@renewer LOL..try owning a BMW after warranty, the "engineering" is to cost savings, more and more plastic and CAD to customer with no road testing. The new era of Chinese transmissions is upon us, which basically put Ford out of the car business. Now they just make vehicles for fat people.
Your condescending and facetious conversation in the garage is perfect. This is how my friends and I talk and I enjoy It more and more each vid while actually learning something.
It's an aggressive looking thing, something my sister also agrees. However we both also agree the powertrain and its looks aren't that corresponding to each other. Still the sad bit is the CT will be going away after 2017 with its replacement (likely based off the new UX concept car) which is derived from the Toyota CH-R which is more a wee-SUV than a hatchback. Also given its size I'm not holding out on a performance variant with more than 200hp.
I’m so glad you mentioned the double wishbone rear suspension cause turbowski like all the big car people don’t understand a little hybrid like this usually knows the demographic doesn’t care about that, they just want a comfortable gas saver
This video actually really made me interested in this car. Looks well laid out for a daily commuter with that touch if more comfort and luxury and a great mpg.
Yeah, like I can do 0 - 60 in 5 seconds in my street when it's full of traffic. It's always full of traffic, I live in the city! What do I need a fast car for? So I can drive faster into the back of the car in front of me? This car is primarily a hatchback designed for city driving. Why is it so hard to get that? And if you want a hybrid, a hatchback and a bit of luxury as you drive around the city, what else are you going to buy?
+David NZ Its something to note, car is slow thats it. Like you said, if you are ok with it and need it for grinds or city you are going to love MPG for sure.
Test drove this car a week ago and it was amazing. In Sport and Normal mode I never once thought I needed more power and the 134 horsepower feels like 200 to me. It is a damn good car, all I can say is go test drive it yourself.
Clvmind I live in city suburbs. I rarely get on the highway. Most of my driving is on roads that have a speed limit around 30 MPH. So, I'd love to have a hybrid...
its because you should expect a bit more for the asking price. 42k for that F Sport version. It also cheapens the F Sport line its like if Honda slapped Si on the Fit, and only stiffened the suspension. Speaking of Honda the Civic Hatch is actually a better deal. Top trim level of the new civic hatchback is $28k. With that you get pretty much everything this Lexus has and a bit more. Leather, remote start, back up camera, navigation, turbocharged engine. On the CT200H Navi and back up camera are an additional $3,500 option in addition to the $32k base price by the time you option it up to have many of the features the Civic already has on its base $19k trim you're looking at double what a base Civic would cost. In my opinion this car has no place in the market when there are far cheaper alternatives. The only reason anyone would buy this is solely for mpgs, but personally I don't think thats enough.

Finally a decent review of such an underrated car. I purchased a standard CT200 (2020 model) and honestly it is absolutely superb. The bad press about it being slow is a myth. Admittedly, when I went to the showroom it was for an older CT200 model and I was extremely underwhelmed by the lack of acceleration when I took it for a test drive. I happened to see another Lexus CT200 (4k above what I was looking at); it was a 2020 model and caught my eye. I took it for test drive and was very, very impressed. I purchased it and haven't looked back since. The acceleration (especially in Sport mode) is more than sufficient. What is most impressive of all is to have a 1.8 L engine that is economical on fuel consumption is very satisfying. My advice is try to go for a model of CT200 post-2015 if possible.
Gotta say, I've had one for a couple of months now and I have never...and I mean never, felt the brake pedal bottom out. The braking feel is really good.
This car is such a conundrum for me. When I see them on the road I think they are really really sharp looking. I do 90% of my driving in town so of course the fuel efficiency would be great as well. The downside being the lackluster driving experience. Sounds like the F Sport option may help the roundabouts and back roads be a bit more enjoyable, but everything else is just so blah. Such a shame because I really really like the exterior looks.

with the Lexus CT - Have you guys ever experienced a clogged EGR pipe or problems with brakes locking? I'm looking to purchase a 2016, however, I'm reading forums of people complaining about these issues and now I'm not sure if I should purchase a CT. Any advice is helpful :)
Steeler Chuma this is not true. the EGR causes the blown head gasket because if it is not cleaned every 100k then it will clog, and this will lead to higher engine temperatures and cause the HG to blow. So the clogged EGR causes the head gasket issue.
i have a 2012 CT right now, and am at 110k, and just about to replace the entire EGR circuit (pipe, manifold, valve, and cooler). so far, it has not given me problems, but i am looking to clean every 100k to prevent my head gasket from blowing. this is essential because if the system gets blocked the engine will run hot and perhaps throw a rod (very rare). My advice would be to get a 2014+ CT, as the rings and pistons were redesigned. this doesn’t full solve the problem though, because there are still a handful of 2014-2017 owners who have already blown head gaskets as well. the key to this car is EGR maintenance, and oil changed every 5k. if you do that and clean/replace the EGR circuit every 100k, this car will LAST FOREVER. you must maintain it though. every car has its downsides. so far, i love this vehicle. It is my first Lexus and probably will not be my last.
"Why 200?" - from what I've seen, Lexus uses the engine displacement in the model name - EXCEPT in the hybrids. For those, it appears they use the "equivalent displacement" for the hp. So a 1.8l with a hybrid motor might be called a 200, just like their RX400h had a 3.3l (?) engine.
Whose ct200h was this, Savagegeese? This has all the rare options like the LED headlights and memory seats? did this person special order the car? I would really like to know.
Is it true that mining and refining nickel is worse for the environment than lithium? I haven't heard that anywhere else... The anti-electric and anti-hybrid people always complain about the impacts of lithium mining.
Honesty review which clearly defines the pros and cons of the car and the target clientele . The big selling point as with any Japanese car is the 100pc reliability .
Just bought one. I drive a lot in city traffic and some long-distance trips on speed limited highways. Should fit my needs perfectly. Thanks for the rant about the car.
The IS and GS weren't designed with the 2.0 liter 8AR turbo in mind either, but shoehorned in during their mid-cycle refresh replacing the thirsty & under-powered 2.5 liter 4GR V6. My guess is the CT was meant to be an experiment at targeting Audi A3 & Mercedes CLA buyers. Obviously with the market shifting towards small SUVs (sigh), Lexus already decided the CT replacement would be closer to a shrunken NX than another compact hatchback. Considering the engineering cost to put the 8AR into the CT, Lexus just decided to not even bother and use that money to develop the upcoming successor based on the Toyota C-HR.
Heyu Yoma You act like I'm somehow talking shit about Lexus. I love Toyota/Lexus, but lets face it. Lexus has yet to make a hothatch and it's bothersome when one considers BMW, Audi and Mercedes have one. Ford, Honda and VW are even helping themselves to a slice of that hothatch pie
Hi I think the heat exchanger is there to recapture heat from the exhaust system to help interior heat so that the engine less as possible but I could be wrong I know it does exist on some cars.
So - there is a reason these cars run for 300,000 miles - the NiMH batteries are recyclable - so by the time you get the running cost of a regular car, that dies somewhere around 130-150,000 miles and has to be replaced - REALLY? A problem??? come on - all taxis in NYC are Prius's - for a reason. Next stop is full electric. this thing is a dream.I've owned 50 vehicles, from rare Alfa's to whatever, - performance IS NOT just about speed. The handling on this car is superb, and I've NEVER bottomed out on the brakes - and I drive hard. It is solid at 100 mph as it is at 30 mph. I live on Maui on a twisty windy road and it is a blast to drive - as good as anything I have ever owned. This guy is a downer with his way of perceiving this car. Try one - and enjoy. PS - I drive AT SPEED - 80 to 90 plus every day with this car. I own a 2012 with 158,000 miles on it and going strong. And JUST replaced the brakes.
I'm looking at one, and your comment makes me want it even more. I have a '14 Sentra, and it's also slow. It's not premium, and it doesn't give me the good gas mileage either (relative, it's giving me 34.8 mpgs)
finally real car guy here. Sport its not only about 0-60, bhp or engien size. Handling whats makes sport car vs drag car. Porsche is famous for it and I love my lexus ct200h as much as I love my porsche
BTW, I believe when Toyota/Lexus names a car that has a gasoline only and a gasoline/electric version (this car is sold in Europe as gasoline only in some markets I believe) the model name comes from the performance the engine the hybrid version produces. This engine performs nearly as well as a 2 liter gas only. Either that, or they just round up to next number? As in LS460 becomes LS500h.
My friend has this car. Our friends who have sit in the rear seats all complain about the limited head room. It has great rear legroom but headroom is poor.
+Alexandra Sinclair Long ago when I had a 2000 Honda Insightz some guy ran up to me on street and asked if it was a "hy-bird." That was the moment his mispronunciation stuck.
Appreciate you’re being blunt. I am considering a discontinued Lexus product Obviously they do not depreciate compared to others but they are so reliable. I’m frustrated with toss a way vehicles.
owner of 12 ct200h; review is very good and captures the pros and cons. would only add winter driving has been ok for me in canada; with winter tires the weight of the car is stable.
The "200" in the name Lexus CT 200h refers to the engine cubic capacity and the power of the vehicle's hybrid system. In the case of the CT 200h, the number suggests that the car has an engine measuring approximately 2.0 liters (or 2000 cm³), which is a common way of naming vehicles from Lexus and Toyota. Additional Details: The CT 200h is equipped with a 1.8-liter gasoline engine, which, when combined with the electric motor, results in a total system output of around 134 hp (horsepower). While the number "200" does not directly correspond to the exact engine capacity, it is part of the brand's naming convention to indicate the vehicle's type and position within the lineup. This type of nomenclature is common in the automotive industry and helps to identify the characteristics and positioning of the car in relation to other models of the brand. In short, the "200" in the Lexus CT 200h name is part of the brand's naming strategy, indicating a relationship with engine cubic capacity and power, even if it doesn't exactly match the specifications of the actual engine.
On the infotainment - I've just test driven a CT200h Executive Edition and it looks like they've updated the infotainment system since this review was made. The little 'mouse' that navigates around the display is now a fixed wheel like most German cars, and the display and menus themselves seem to be updated. I must say I like it, I currently have a 2014 Mini which uses a version of the iDrive system from BMW which is frankly brilliant, and to be fair the Lexus system I tested didn't feel too far behind that. Overall I really liked the car, I think I'm going to put an order in.
i hope you get your hands on the new 2018 CT. very interested in getting 1 for my dad. i did not get the ct during 15 because of the brakes and lots of under steer. dad and mum is getting old they need really gd brakes.
the saved fuel over the life of the car significant offsets the environmental impact of producing the nickel metal hydrate battery. all the studies that suggest otherwise (like that rediculous one that said a hummer is more environmentally friend) have been proven wrong over and over again
It's like the climate deniers and actually mostly the same people. And here it is presented as if it is just as valid an opinion as yours, 50-50. It's not.
As a Hatchback lover looking to save more on gas, I was highly considering this car. I drive a 2003 Mazda Protege 5 and I'm looking to get a newer car. Based on what I saw/heard here, I don't like that brake feeling. This would be my car for everything (not just a commuter!), so that means that I'm planning on going 70mph or a little above that on the hwy! What killed me was the cargo space. My current car has 19.8 ft3/38.2(rear seats down) ft3 of cargo...this car has 14.3 ft3/34.8(rear seats down) ft3!!! I'd be loosing cargo space in both configurations. It's sad to see companies are always falling short on 2, 3 or more aspects in their car design. They can never get it right in an over-all decent kind of way...>>>What's up with the "How to get rid of Hemorrhoids" and "Hemorrhoid Talk" @ 17:15 LOL!!!
Stopping power is amazing regardless of feel. I had a dude brake check me because I road raged a bit after he was following me with brights on and I have no idea how it stopped so quickly. Good tires mostly but I think the rigid frame played a part. No skid.

I'm thinking of buying a 2011 or 2012 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid with 66k miles on it for $9500 from a dealer.
@@Adam-oo7tn thanks so much for the advice!!
Always buy the final year of a model. All the issues have been fixed
I come to every video now just for the Turbowski intros, I feel slightly uncomfortable in a good way when he looks into my eyes.
It's for the torque.
Your electric green shoe laces have more charge than this hybrid 😆. You guys are awesome and love every video. Keep up the hard work!
God I love going through your older vids.
Whose ct200h was this, Savagegeese? This has all the rare options like the LED headlights and memory seats? did this person special order the car? I would really like to know.
It was one of the last press cars.
@@savagegeese thank you! I have this car but in red, like the color you suggested!.
Is it true that mining and refining nickel is worse for the environment than lithium? I haven't heard that anywhere else... The anti-electric and anti-hybrid people always complain about the impacts of lithium mining.
the best review of this car...impressive.Thank you
Silver color today is like the beige of the 90s.
Honesty review which clearly defines the pros and cons of the car and the target clientele . The big selling point as with any Japanese car is the 100pc reliability .
turbowski intro rules!
Just bought one. I drive a lot in city traffic and some long-distance trips on speed limited highways. Should fit my needs perfectly. Thanks for the rant about the car.
Why lexus hasn't slapped a 200-250hp i4 turbo in it is beyond me.
CAFE Standards
Trades46 oh yeah? When are they going to drop the CT from the line up?
matt molloy
From what I heard, either 2018 or 2019. I'm not holding my breath, I don't even like these new wee-SUV anyways.
I think this is such a good looking hatch. I just wish they made a non hybrid version.
Hi I think the heat exchanger is there to recapture heat from the exhaust system to help interior heat so that the engine less as possible but I could be wrong I know it does exist on some cars.
when will you do the new 2016/2017 Toyota Prius?
Sounds like highway driving. If you like driving 75-80, you won't do much better with this. I get 36-38 when I drive like an ass on the interstate.
finally real car guy here. Sport its not only about 0-60, bhp or engien size. Handling whats makes sport car vs drag car. Porsche is famous for it and I love my lexus ct200h as much as I love my porsche
A mouse cut the wire, Turbowski?
BTW,
I believe when Toyota/Lexus names a car that has a gasoline only and a gasoline/electric version (this car is sold in Europe as gasoline only in some markets I believe) the model name comes from the performance the engine the hybrid version produces. This engine performs nearly as well as a 2 liter gas only. Either that, or they just round up to next number? As in LS460 becomes LS500h.
You could do a review of a Dodge K-car and I would watch it. Love your sense of humor.
Slow wit Scott’s head is the fulcrum for introducing components on the car as talking points...at least I hope.
The world needs more Turbowski
My friend has this car. Our friends who have sit in the rear seats all complain about the limited head room. It has great rear legroom but headroom is poor.
Guys its a fancy hybrid toyota matrix, shits gonna be bulletproof
13:40 how are you in sport mode without the rev counter showing?
I love my CT200h I live in London, in town driving I get around 46-48mpg. on motorways the average is 61-66 mpg, a totally reliable car.
How is the rear seating
@@NethirOsman mines fine, I'm 6 foot tall and comfortable in the back.
Thanks for letting me know, what year did you have?@@stevenhearnden6103
At 1:36 did you really mean high-bird? I know it's an eco car, supposedly environmental friendly, but high?
+Alexandra Sinclair Long ago when I had a 2000 Honda Insightz some guy ran up to me on street and asked if it was a "hy-bird." That was the moment his mispronunciation stuck.
Lol, I knew something was up...
keep watching Savagegeese...he puts all kinds of easter eggs in his videos
i guess 2017 was the last production year in the US?
It look like this two gentlemen don't get alone and the energy is dreadful. Not what I was expecting from this team.
it seems not the double wishbone rear suspension. it is a rear suspension same with Ford Focus, tie blade multi-link suspension.
Appreciate you’re being blunt. I am considering a discontinued Lexus product Obviously they do not depreciate compared to others but they are so reliable. I’m frustrated with toss a way vehicles.
i think it's a really good looking hatchback
The infotainment display: "How to Get Rid of Hemorrhoids..." Lol
owner of 12 ct200h; review is very good and captures the pros and cons. would only add winter driving has been ok for me in canada; with winter tires the weight of the car is stable.
Nice to see Illinois 💪🏽
If they had a sportier version I'd get it once they do a refresh or something
My dad had a 2019 Ct 200h, great reliable and economical car. Only negative is the harsh ride
The F Sport ride is the real problem.
PLEASE PLEASE DO A REVIEW ON A USED LEXUS ISF, I LOVE YOUR REVIEW MAN AND TURBOW IS REALLY FUNNY LOL
Noticing you're in my neighborhood in Woodstock, Bull Valley! Great video of my CT200, I love mine!
enjoy the reviews and the dry as sheet rock humor
The "200" in the name Lexus CT 200h refers to the engine cubic capacity and the power of the vehicle's hybrid system. In the case of the CT 200h, the number suggests that the car has an engine measuring approximately 2.0 liters (or 2000 cm³), which is a common way of naming vehicles from Lexus and Toyota.
Additional Details:
The CT 200h is equipped with a 1.8-liter gasoline engine, which, when combined with the electric motor, results in a total system output of around 134 hp (horsepower).
Keep them coming. Enjoy these reviews.
Will you being doing a civic hatchback review?
just another fantastiCT200h video
You should do a v6 challenger or small size trucks
It's not.
"That's a ride height sensor" haha...We need more Scott
No skid.
@@user-os8sq3uh4n Good to know. Thanks so much for this input.
Is it just me or does that slot between the volume and tune knob look like a tape deck?
Thanks guys , really great detailed information about this car , probably my next car will be Lexus.
so lets say you are buying a used one from 2013 with 90k on it what should you be making sure of before you buy it? a friend bought a used prius and has had years of hastle $ free enjoyment. some have bad experiences too not sure what way to go here.
A part of me wants to drive this car and get crazy mpg and the other part of me slaps that part of me and says what the F is wrong with you.
I'm thinking of buying a 2011 or 2012 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid with 66k miles on it for $9500 from a dealer. I'm looking for a luxury car with good mpg for daily commute to work but most importantly reliable and I didn't find any option other than 2010 Lexus HS250 or 2011 CT 200h (ugly). under 10k budget. The problem with Lexus is there are both more than 110k miles on it and I don't want to buy a Hybrid vehicle with high miles where the battery is closer to shutting off.
What is your opinion?
When will you review the gs350?
Still waiting for the Q50 red sport review
