- First off, XGaster wanted to destroy his soul because he didn't feel worthy of being able to Overwrite, because he was lacking motivation. That scene connects directly into XTale 0 where Ink shows him the multiverse to motivate him, it's the same exact scene.
- Fun fact: Error is now animated in a completely different style to the other characters, using vectors instead of hand-drawn frames to give him that "off" vibe.
- YES! Fresh is one of the tallest Sanses out there, I think he's canonically like 6' tall? While everyone else is below 5'
- Another fact: Ink does not usually use his ink attacks because they drain him. The more he attacks with ink bones or blasters, the more vials he has to take, that's why he usually only uses his brush, which can create infinite ink with no need to suck his emotions.
- The unlimited vial is purple because XGaster created it based on Ink's request, it's another of his creations, and like most of them, it's purple.
- 20:44 if you haven't realized yet, Jakei has said that Fresh!Ink has been the hardest character to animate in her entire carreer, he's mostly the reason the episode took longer than most to be finished, only followed by Fatal_Error.
- 23:06 Oh no don't worry, that's Ink's cannonical "creepy face". You can even see it in "Xtra Scene 2" when he talks to Error.
- 23:55 REMEMBER that Error is EXTREMELY haphephobic, meaning, he's afraid of physical contact, that's why he always uses distance attacks. Fresh literally built dozens of creepy hands with the smoke to try and touch him, freaking him out and making him go away. That's why Fresh is so interesting, he can read everyone like a book and use their weaknesses against them, both physically (like Ink, making him run out of vials before using his body) and psychologically (like Error).
- 27:07 THAT'S GENO FROM AFTERTALE!!! Error's past self, the Sans who survived Determination damage and was trapped for years inside the SAVE screen.

Ok, so… we don’t actually know what exactly the blue vial represents.
But there are two leading theories.
1. Since Ink called them “SOUL reflections”, it can be assumed that the colors correspond to human SOUL traits, with blue being Integrity. Which would fit, since it’s the one thing that Ink always struggles with.
2. I think the original Ink’s creator mentioned that the vials correspond to basic emotions, such as “red=anger”, etc. But most of them were left to interpretation. But the assumption is that blue=sadness. Which would also fit, since being depressed isn’t really something Ink wants to do (this gives me Inside Out vibes, lol). But then again, there is no poof that it works like that in Underverse specifically. So both theories are equally possible in my eyes.

You must have forgotten, but that scene actually showed us the part of their conversation right before what we saw at the beginning of XTale. Where XGaster basically said “I’m sorry, my children, I’m wasting my power and don’t know what to do, maybe if I destroy my SOUL along with this place you can be free” and Ink responded with “That’s not necessary at all! You want ideas? Let me show you the multiverse!” Paraphrasing, obviously. You should rewatch the beginning of XTale, that specific conversation was referenced to multiple times during Underverse.
Yeah, guilt is a pretty good starting point. But.. it’s not *only* that. I’m pretty sure XGaster is just as traumatised by the events of XTale as everyone else. At the end he was like “I don’t care about pain anymore. All of this has to be worth it”. So I think, whenever he creates something new, he doesn’t even remember how to channel anything but agony into it. Remember how Papyrus in IX said “I always thought the air of sadness was normal around here, but now I see we’re just your reflections”. So basically, XGaster is so depressed, that he can’t make his creations *not* depressed. Even if he were to try. The vial reveals that specifically because the vials *are* a direct reflection of the creators’ SOULs, as In mentioned previously. It’s a really cool puzzle that neatly put itself together c: But also very depressing. I kinda hope XGaster doesn’t die by the end… it wouldn’t be undeserved, sure, but it would also be pretty tragic.
I still wonder why he hasn't drawn for himself an automated vial injection system instead of needing to remember to take them from time to time.

The blue vial is popularly believed to be Integrity, my theory on that is that he didnt consume the blue vial due to the fact integrity, which literally means "the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles" would go against what him and XGaster is doing, that's my take on it at least.

Fresh is a parasite that feeds on souls and because Ink's vials are similar to having a soul, the vials are what allows Fresh to possess Ink. That's also why he mentions that paint isn't the worst thing he tasted, because instead of feeding on a soul he was eating paint which is also hilarious to think about 😂.

Airier to know who Fatal Error is you must know who Geno is, his story is in the comic Aftertale. I know it's confusing but it's very interesting.
Also, Error is basically what Geno becomes in a bad ending of Aftertale. However, this ending didn't made it to the comic.
I writing this comment separately because I just really want to emphasize how much I love this episode. Ink is absolutely my favourite character, and this entire thing perfectly highlights why. Along with your comments, actually! The best one being "It's like he forgot he was playing a villain". Because.. yeah. He did. Absolutely. And not just in a silly "oh, he has goldfish memory, haha". He didn't even really *understand* what "playing a villain" really means. He just understood it as a role in a game, nothing too important. Which is exactly what makes him so fucked up.
We all know he doesn't have a SOUL. Which means he is incapable of feeling empathy. But.. Fresh is the same way. But, as he himself put it, they're *very* different. Because the thing about Ink is that... He doesn't even feel *sympathy,* really. And now you also know why. How can you sympathise with someone who's suffering when you don't even know what pain *is?* And btw, this wasn't an exaggeration. He actually never felt pain. Not even physical. So of course he doesn't care about others! He doesn't even know why they would be mad at him!
And it's not just X-Event. He does this all the time. He comes and goes from universe to universe, never caring about any consequences of his actions. Because why should he? They're just fun stories for him to play around with.
You may have noticed that this description also very much fits XGaster. And yes, they're very similar. Which is why they worked together so well. But.. what's funny, is that's this similarity came about completely on purpose. If you remember, at some point during XTale XGaster writes "I never told him, but I really admire him. ... Would it be too hard to be like him?". Yeah... He absolutely succeeded on that task far more than he ever intended.
Basically... This episode is where the Soulless Heart actually starts ro truly sink in.

I think another thing about this that is so cool is that clearly Xgaster didn't fully succeed because of his pain vial. If the vial is a reflection of his soul, then that pain is still there and still very real. Which is again poetic because in trying to become more like Ink, XGaster has given Ink the perspective he needs to change.
I would say that even though Ink sees others as characters in stories and scripts and not as real people, he actually *_can_* care about some of them, like he did with Cross, I mean that's why he stopped drinking his emotions in the first place, so he would not regret and stop what he did, and even if at the beginning we saw him acting like it was all a game (since he would control when to stop feeling, what to feel after and what not) he will eventually regret what his "game" entailed, welp he's already slowly doing it, because he actually cares. The reason why he decided to continue with XGaster's plan was not just for the fun, but because he is desperate too as we saw.
(Yes Ink is a very fun character to analyze lmao)

Errors "whoever you are" implies he doesn't know Fresh yet(which would explain why he didn't run away screaming when Fresh spoke to him before... yeah Error is terrified of Fresh)
... I was gonna ask how he didn't know it was fresh that... gonna incorrectly use the word "style," but with how many AU's there are, it does kinda make sense.
@@Airier I just like the revelation that Error has learned to fear Fresh before learning his name(even if the fact that he is just learning that now does result in some continuity errors like him having a slight panic attack at the mention of Fresh in "ask error" which had to have taken place long before this)
A few things of note here about the unlimited vial:
1. Ink specifically promised fresh the funniest thing in the multiverse
2. Ink asked XGaster to create this gift.
3. Ink already knew what an unlimited vial was and that it was inside the box despite never opening it. This implies that ink specifically asked XGaster for an unlimited vial of the funniest emotion in the universe.
4. Ink describes the feeling as pain.
XGaster may be a little crazy, who knew!
Also as a personal opinion, I believe the blue vial represents sadness. This makes the most sense to me as it fits ink’s personality; he lives moment to moment. He doesn’t allow himself to feel sorrow because he doesn’t think it would benefit him. Some would say the vial has integrity in it, but integrity is less of a feeling and more of a quality. Just my opinion though.
About the blue vial, it's believed that it could represent sadness/regret, and that would be the reason why Ink didn't drink anything from it so he wouldn't feel bad after everything that happened (the destruction of the multiverse, him betraying Cross...). You could also watch Ink's backstory comic "His story" to get a better understanding of his character, it's not a long comic
it also could mean integrity since that something Ink don't usually have but, like the creator did, it's left up for interpretation
At the very end there, that's Geno Sans, the main Sans of Aftertale, it's another Alternate Timeline of Undertale which is why it's even still here after the multiverse destruction, but yeah, like most Sanses, he's been through a LOT.

Oh here I was, about to write some LORE time, but 40 minutes after the episode is out, people already write paragraphs, bruh.
LORE TIME: When Ink uses his ink attacks, like bones, Ink Blaster and etc., he basically uses his own ink reserves (that fills up when he drinks dem vials of ink emotions, MUCH INK), and that´s why his eyes were so very close to being gray. Ink can also, only travel with his broom (Broomie :>). He also wanted to get out of the Doodle Sphere as soon as possible, cause it could be reminding him of the Void, or the Anti-Void (don't remember which one), and that's where he ended up as a discarded creation of his creators, and quickly began to lose sanity.
Very nice theory about XGaster's guilt and all, but I think what we got here, is a hint that the trait of XGaster's soul could be Pain??? thus XGaster simply gave Ink an unlimited vial of his strongest trait, Pain.
It is theorized that the colors of the vials are either something similar to the traits of the 7 fallen humans with their respective colors, or, something else, and that the blue vial, has something to do with responsibility, perseverance, etc.
About Ink´s redesign, the creator of Ink (as a character in the AU sense) has had a new design for him, and so Jakei, the always keen eyed gal for details, has decided to also give Ink that new style! (Plus Ink was very annoying to animate with all of his cloth details lmao)
The guy you saw at the end was Geno! In short, has tried to stop endless genocide timelines, was stuck at the save/load screen of the game, tried to free himself, and in the end, is sharing a soul with another Original Sans, to escape the save/load screen, CAUSE READ THE COMIC, and is now living happily in a pacifist timeline with everybody, yay!! btw, people love him, hype character. When the episode came out, people were Wiiiiiiild-

A popular theory I've heard is that it's regret. Ink's creator only specified a few of the vials' emotions, with blue not being one of them.
It's not specified what blue means , but blue soul in Undertale ment integrity , and that what inc didn't had for a long time , laying to everyone around and partly to himself.
Integrity meaning being honest overall, to yourself and others, it would add up.
In the fandom, the most popular assumption is that blue means sadness.
It could be this, the vials emotion have not been confirmed but considering the merch Comyet sold we can see that the color blue represents sadness so it could be that too

I think when it came to fresh ink it was more so like a flowey situation. Instead the parasite fused both sans's together while keeping his control over his sans.
About Ink's new outfit.. The original creator redesigned him and recommended (not forced though) other artists to use the new design now, so this is just how Jael decided to put it in Underverse.
I don't remember the exact reason for this redesign.. I think it happened because the original one was copied from someone's OC or something...
I know this is quite late, but I just wanted to point out that the main theory that seems to be going around in terms of the use of the Blue Vial is so that way Fresh can possess Ink again, thus recreating Fresh!Ink, perhaps in a time of need.
On top of that, the new outfit that Ink got is simply the redesign that Ink's creator, Comyet, asked people to start using, because Comyet was very unhappy with themself, due to the first design they made being unoriginal, and inspired by something else, without actually referencing the inspiration. Comyet eventually fixed this mistake after it was brought to light, and it can be seen on Ink's official page, to see what all happened, and a lot more of Ink's story and details, as well as a conversation and apology between Comyet and the person who Comyet accidentally took inspiration from without realizing or crediting them!
But yeah, Jakei seems to have agreed to start using the new outfit, whilst also incorporating it into the story! Which is always nice!
I would recommend at least reading up on aftertale since there are a lot of references to the events in it in the next episode and Fatal Error, but that's optional since his motives in his comic don't seem to matter a whole lot in this at least as far as I could tell

I mean, it's dubbed, so he doesn't need to read Fresh Ink's lines atleast... Oh, he can react to "Epic joins Underverse", it's a good change of tone after sad main plot. Just Epic and Cross goofing around and being homies.
Now that I'm thinking about it, he can also watch "Xtale Frisk and Chara's show". He NEED to see, how they are discussing "how to flirt" or "who has the longest [SPOILERS]".
The one thing I loved about this is because it shows how naive Ink was with everything. He never felt pain before, he can care about others but sympathy and empathy are foreign to him because he doesn't understand pain. This was the first time he was feeling it and in a way, it was a shock to his system and seemed to really affect him. It was what was needed to change his opinion and in a way it feels like....Xgasters way of asking for help or crying out. Especially to someone he admires greatly like Ink. That is my take on this entire thing.
Ink has the capacity to make friends and care about certain people to a degree but because he doesn't understand the full range of being complete with a soul he struggles to understand why people will be mad at him and yes for most of these worlds he considers them the creators creations. He doesn't consider them living beings....it's like how writers will play around with characters in their books. Ink is a reflection of creators.
But now that he knows that his creations FEEL these things, this PAIN. And with the things Fresh said....almost mimicking with how Xgaster was toying with their lives by taking over Ink's body... is making Ink realize that this isn't the right path to take and that maybe this was a mistake.

Ok so..
Blue vial and generally blue color (for example souls too) represent Integrity. That's why Ink didn't drink that. He was not telling truth from the start and wasn't honest with his friend and technically everyone.
The Sans on end of the episode is called "Geno" he's alternate version of classical (vanilla) Sans. But this time sans was trapped in save file screen (I sadly forgot how that happened so you can just read something about it on internet). Error was created same way and basically Error and Geno are same person but from other version. Error version decided to be "bad guy" and Geno well, good/neutral one. Can't wait till you will see next episode
Now is the time to watch “everything you need to know before watching underverse”! Phil goes over Geno’s and Fatal_Error’s stories really well 😊 also, a note about Fresh. I can’t speak to how he’s going to end up in underverse, but his original creator always held the belief that Fresh wasn’t a villain. He has no Reason to act truly villainous. His main focus is his own survival, and doing whatever it takes to survive the madness of the multiverse. That usually results in him being more helpful than hurtful. It’s advantageous to be silly and friendly and disarming, even if he doesn’t actually care about anyone he’s helping. (He does have a soft spot for different frisks though.) He and Ink are “kindred spirits” because they’re both soulless. Neither one of them create their own emotions. Ink feeds off of the creators in order to “lie” about having feelings, but Fresh just straight up pretends to feel anything. Fresh is brilliant, very capable, and has the potential to be very, very dangerous, but becoming a real villain would just put a target on his back
