Most people don't realize how important music can be in video games and movies. The soundtrack to Horizon Zero Dawn is so good it made me want to keep playing the game. All the themes replay over and over in my head and remind me of the game. That's a good soundtrack!
@@guillaumelairloup5928 I can't think a better soundtrack written to capture the melancholy atmosphere of the world paired with the main character's story so perfectly. When I first heard it I thought Bear McCreary wrote it! It takes real talent to match and even 1up his musical compositions. I'm hoping music composed for Horizon Forbidden West is just as good because it really does matter!
This is going to sound weird, but I had heard about this game as something that sounded interesting, but just very recently came across the music... and now I am engrossed, I very much want to play it. Quite a few of the tracks and their themes here have already grown roots in my psyche, they evoke an emotional response even without knowing the story they correspond to. So, yeah... this is music so good, it has converted me into a player.
I have hiked to this, slept to this, studied to this, and wept to this. This really is the best collection from the soundtrack in one place, and I thank you for it.
I can't express how much i love Aloy and her story. This game is awesome, this girl is most beautiful and kind person in videogame history and this music is incredible! Thank you!
I don’t care what anyone says. HZD has one of the best themes, and is the best game I have ever played. And to think there is a sequel set for next year!
I feel that Witcher 3 beats HZD by a close quarter... But both games are fuckin amazing. Witcher 3 has the epicness and thrill and tension, while HZD is more like an emotional adventure.
And it's beautiful there's so many games and everyone can choose their own favourite! We'll never get everyone on the same boat but that's ok! I thought HZD wasn't my thing when I saw the trailer. I've never been a fan of tribal+machines, but I gave it a chance and I fell in love, it's delivered so beautifully, I might actually become a fan of this combination. Thank you Guerilla for changing my mind. ❤️😄
If I could go back and play any game again for the first time, this would definitely be in the conversation. It's an absolute masterpiece and I loved every minute of it
If you didn't play it on a 4k HDR tv first time, play it again with one. It may not be a true first time, but between the amazing story and ability to make choices along the way, the added depth and richness to the HZD world will definitely make it a great experience a second time around. P.S. that is exactly what I am doing right now, and HZD is just as captivating the second time around for me!
@@Lucasssssssss_ Woah, no I didn't know that! I'd like to see some in-game NPCs who still remember Rost and how he fought to avenge his family. I'm even more excited now. And your English is fine, good job.
@@sinonasada9078 Yeah I recently replayed the game and noticed the dialogue too. I didn't expect Rost to be such a deep character. Thanks for confirming either way though.
I platinumed this game. Got the wallpaper and avatar for it. So worth it. I love this game. One of the best games ever created if not the best! It changed my life and I will use this music while studying for college!
Me too, I never felt something for a game since I played Horizon. The first moments are very sad, like the bullyig to Aloy, when Rost dies to save Aloy (I cryed)...
I am currently replaying this game in New Game+. I have to say, the music was really well thought out and beautifully composed. However, it is only a puzzle piece that makes up a tiny part of the picture this game paints! The graphics are STILL, years later, arguably the best ever put to a video game. The story is ACTUALLY original. Your tutorial is you being a young, determined, and hearty Aloy, and you get to help her become the warrior and person you end up playing the rest of the game - a brilliant way to establish a deeper bond to the protagonist. There is uncharted-style climbing, conversation choices - some with consequences, stealth, hunting, crafting and trade elements, open world with quests and side missions, rpg leveling and weapon/outfit mods. The combat is just as fluid as the graphics, the user interfaces are not only visually appealing, but incredibly intuitive and easy to navigate, while the slow-mo while in a menu doesn't allow you to completely escape or "pause" danger long enough to feel safe during a battle. Fighting, you need to be tactical or you are going to get surrounded and overwhelmed or just plain flanked and screwed. Speaking of which, AI in the biomechanical animals is pretty good and they are even programmed to act like their real life counterparts (Scrappers and Snapmaws stalk prey and violently pounce, a lot like real panthers and crocodiles would). Seriously, if you are a gamer and haven't played this game yet, you owe it to yourself to give it a lot least five hours of your life. If you don't like it after just five hours, then this game will never appeal to you (most of us loved if are 5 seconds). And that is fine. Even for the greatest game/movies/books, there are always going to be those that just prefer other things. HZD isn't a perfect game, it is just a perfect game for those that like a rich (and often powerful) story, a mix of play types, a strong and honorable female protagonist, a GORGEOUS open world, and great combat mechanics! This is like.... Metal Gear mixed with Mad Max mixed with King Arthur mixed with Cyberpunk mixed with morality lessons of humanity and its ridiculous hubris. Tldr; HZD is a freaking masterpiece everyone should play!
I've done 3 playthroughs in total. First one was simply on normal difficulty, second one was NG+ on ultra, the third was an entirely fresh playthrough on ultra. The game in itself is great, I only am annoyed by some facial animations of sidequest characters. The DLC however, took the quality through the roof. If that's the quality they're trying to create for the sequel I can't help but get excited. I also tried to do quests in later playthroughs in different orders and tried easily missable dialogues, you notice that it often changes depending on what you do first. There's so many things most people won't even hear. Try going to sunfall before hearing Sylens through your focus for the first time for, or speak with the priest from Meridian before the proving. So much depth.
I'm so glad I've found this mix. HZD was there in the worst moment of my life, it prevented me to fall into depression because of how good it is, how engaging the story is and how wonderful is this soundtrack. Also it was the first game ever to make me cry (and not only once). It defenitely rivals Skyrim and The Witcher 3 as my favorite game ever
Spent lot of hours on this experience (it's more than a game) during lock-down. One of the best productions ever. Will buy a ps5 for the sequel! And the re-lock-down.. :)
I play on PC, and only just played through this game for the first time. Honestly might be my favourite singleplayer open world game ever, next to breath of the wild
I can't agree more. This is ART disguised as a video game. It is GREAT CINEMA disguised as a video game. It is a MYTHOS and morality stories created by the digital generations that deserves to have a timeless spot in fiction's history, like Sherlock Holmes or Robinson Crusoe. I am not even the obsessed gamer like I was in younger years, but THIS game is one of few that burns through HOURS and HOURS of my time AND gets me excited to talk about and enjoy. The ONLY reason I might buy a PS5 soon (I typically wait several years for the prices to drop on consoles), is because I just can't wait to experience the next chapter. P.S. I think Aloy is a brilliant heroin and that parents would do their daughters a service by introducing them to this game. Because Aloy is an intelligent, clever, strong-willed firebreathing force of nature!
@@CristianoRonaldo-wy6tw Simon is right, except I would go a step further and say THIS game deserves nothing less than 4k with HDR, and that Forbidden West would only be held back by anything less. Guerrilla Games made this game near-perfect and used legitimate painting techniques for the backgrounds and characters, that is why nothing has that jagged digitized harshness in the HZD world.
This game is simply brilliant. And a huge part of this perfection is the soundtrack! It´s so well made and perfectly describes Aloy´s emotions and feelings throughout the game. Homecoming is so beautiful - it made me cry.
Horizon Zero Dawn! One of the best Sony PlayStation 4 games I ever played, together with my sister. Actually she played and I looked to the beatiful graphics, outstanding atmosphere, great story and finally the beautiful red-haired, brave and adventurous female warrior Aloy!
God, the music of the main theme so stunningly embodies the whole story of Aloy's life, the whole hard way that she went, from childhood loneliness, to the realization of her role in this world. We hear this theme every time we launch the game, we hear it at key moments of the plot, and now we hear it at the end of the story, and the melody now sounds completely different, because it is filled with memories of the path we have traveled along with character. I was about to cry out cause it's amazing. Thank you for this feeling. Love you all from Russia ❤
The opening scenes and music where Aloy succeeds and grows strong always reminds me of my sister and the hurt she went through in life to get to where she is now. She came out the other side with strength, compassion and true grit
Stepping out into the Embrace for the first time was absolutely MAGICAL with this score... Just existing in this overworld is awe inspiring and the music is such a massive part of that.
It's all a masterpiece these compilation, but " Years of training", "City on the Mesa" and " Victory" still the best soundtracks of the games over others for a long time for me !!!!!
Several years passed by, 2020 is over, and I still adore listening to it, cause it's so amazing! I'm listening and it sounds somewhere inside my heart. I'm a grown man, heard it many times, and it still makes me weep. Is it good for work & study? Well, not only that - it's great for actually everything. Whatever I do, I love to hear it, to feel it, to be happy and sad, to feel so alive. @DragonstarDT, great thanks for the excellent work of creating this glorious album!
Definitely the best and more HZD evoking compilation of tracks + images from the game. Just found this and listening to it brought so many warm memories of the long and beautiful hours spent roaming around HZD's world and the peace of mind it brough to me. Thanks so much! Definitely listening to it many times over.
I am surprised there aren't more videos of these that are popular. This soundtrack is so damn soothing and beautiful, one of the most wonderfully composed ambient scores in all of gaming; perfect for a relaxing music playlist.
Awesome game and soundtrack! I imagined Aloy as a daughter of mine, whom I had never met, who had been plunged into a world with violent foes, and scary technology, and dealing with allies, and striving to make a better world, which had been devastated by a mistake by a technology-reliant society.
This game has such a great story. I love the way they chose to end the world and the fact that it did technically end for everything at some point. That's just so devastating and heartbreaking to think about.
I love the spread of people responding to it in the Zero Dawn facility itself. One guy had lost all faith and assumed nothing would ever work, he was too unstable to work and was probably a prisoner until the world ended. One respected the project but just couldn't find a reason to go on and chose euthanasia. One thought of the project as a sort of 'island of Dr Moroe' (old mad scientist fiction not important) but realised that after billions of years of life for it just to end was just horrifying, he chose to make helping the rebirth of earth as his last act. Honestly this shows why I love this game so much, it simply treats humans as very human, even the irredeemably bad Helis follows this idea.
one of the only soundtracks "to study to" that I actually put on to study. I'm currently writing my thesis proposal for my graduate program and this has been the go to for the last several months to get my nose to the grind stone. I also recommend Across the Daybrink from HZD-OST. So short but SOOOOO good.
@@DragonstarDT I liked the Red Dead Redemption 2 soundtrack but there are already bunch of collections out there. Detroit Beocme human also had some pretty dope music. But no need to make a mix. Thank you again
Great mix. Thanks for posting. The intro video always moves me, especially the part when Aloy kills the last Watcher and sees Rost lowering his bow-he knows she's finally ready.
31:00 Meridian, Shining is the best track. I hum this tune when I get stressed at work, lol. Great game and so is Forbiddien West. Both games have great soundtracks.
@@MarcoLopez-pc3nw As far as I know, Issue #1 will be on sale August 5, 2020. The writer is Anne Toole and the artist Ann Maulina. I was made aware of this when Loish, an artist I follow on instagram who worked on concept design for Aloy in the game, revealed a cover she made for the issue. Titan Comics announced last year that it was working to release the comics. The blurb is: "Talanah, a strong and determined hunter, struggles to find purpose after her trusted friend Aloy disappears. When a mysterious threat emerges in the wilds, she sets out to hunt and to defeat it, only to learn that a whole new breed of killer machines stalk the land!"
I also love how the pictures keep changing throughout the video, that's a rarity in-game soundtrack videos on TH-cam so good work @DragonstarDT in the editing! It makes it more immersive this way.
Best soundtrack I have ever heard from the gaming world. I don't think people realised that the gaming industry had kind of over taken the film industry in terms of authenticity & artistic innovation some years ago. Funnily enough, machines.. technology could save us. It's called The Venus Project.
I let Olin live. After seeing him reunited with his family, it made me upset that I would never see Rost again but there was something fulfilling about letting him live. I never thought a choice would make me cry but it really did.
He's not a bad guy, he only wanted to protect his family. He only realized too late what evil he was actually working for. I can't get it over my heart to kill him, so I never did.
One of the best games I've ever played. I'm obsessed, I might replay it starting this week, and really take my time in the world. I just love it so much. Absolutely phenomenal storytelling.
Just discovered this game after the PS5 reveal for Forbidden West. I was debating whether or not to get PS5 or XboxSeriesX. After seeing this game, I absolutely have to get PS5 and play part 2.
@@MotorCityPhoenix313 It is obviously going to be a better experience on ps5. I'm probably going to buy a ps5 when this drops, so I can experience it in it's full glory. It's not like I otherwise wasn't going to jump on the next-gen train.

I hear ya! I just convinced one of my few real friends to get the Complete Edition..he installed it yesterday and I am just waiting for his initial reactions to his own HZD experience. I honestly am excited to hear his thoughts on a video game experience that was truly memorable and even emotional for me. I look forward to sharing this game with even my nephew and others over the years. Who knows, I might have a daughter one day even. I want her to discover strong female representation, like Aloy - so, I will gift her a PS4 and this game when/if that day comes. If you haven't done so, the Complete Edition is only $10 right now, I suggest you get it and give it a second playthrough. Cheers!

Beautiful game, beautiful story, beautiful soundtrack.
Beautiful comment :)
This game is an absolute masterpiece! Game play, graphics, story music; it's got it all! I love it so much!
Which track exactly made you think the music in this game is any good??
@@NickStrife aloys theme 2.17
@@012345678996996 You kidding me? This is the most basic shit i' ever heard.... To each his own I guess!!! 😂
@@NickStrife The music is beautiful and so underrated, all the tracks.Especially aloy's them,It's so beautiful
@@khias433 Listen to the soundtracks of Nier: Automata or Witcher 3...
Sorry after hearing such masterpieces Aloy's theme sounds too bland for me...
The opening scenes and music where Aloy succeeds and grows strong always reminds me of my sister and the hurt she went through in life to get to where she is now. She came out the other side with strength, compassion and true grit
Thanks for sharing that story :) Aloy truly is an amazing protagonist. Can't wait for the next Horizon Zero Dawn
Stepping out into the Embrace for the first time was absolutely MAGICAL with this score... Just existing in this overworld is awe inspiring and the music is such a massive part of that.
oh god I just wanted something to listen to while studying but now I'm crying
Best game EVER! And best music ever!
16:44 - In Great Strides gets me always so emotional even when I used to play the game years ago
Blending of Art, Code, 3d, Storytelling and Music made something so beautiful.
Am learning to program because of it.
This is one of the most beautiful games that excist but also this music gives me inner peace!❤
Definitely the best and more HZD evoking compilation of tracks + images from the game. Just found this and listening to it brought so many warm memories of the long and beautiful hours spent roaming around HZD's world and the peace of mind it brough to me. Thanks so much! Definitely listening to it many times over.
I found City On The Mesa so relaxing, one of my fav tracks on the game. So well composed.
The end of Aloy's journey when those synth background vocals kick in (right around 1:35:00) just hits different
I love this game. Thank you for this. This is amazing. I've been loving your compilation videos since, like, 2012.
I'm super glad to bring you music enjoyment for years :D
I am surprised there aren't more videos of these that are popular. This soundtrack is so damn soothing and beautiful, one of the most wonderfully composed ambient scores in all of gaming; perfect for a relaxing music playlist.
Most of these are "Getting stuff done" type music which I love to listen to while working. Thank you so much for this.
I've played this game 5 times, and enjoyed every moment.
as of 2024, I still love this game and love the sequel even more.
''homecoming'' is wow, teardrop maker :')
Thanks a ton for compiling this mix. Got to love Horizon’s Zero Dawn story, its otherworldly setting, and a beautiful, expressive soundtrack.
Aloy's Theme is absolutely beautiful, just like the game itself. Perfect in every way.
one of the only soundtracks "to study to" that I actually put on to study. I'm currently writing my thesis proposal for my graduate program and this has been the go to for the last several months to get my nose to the grind stone. I also recommend Across the Daybrink from HZD-OST. So short but SOOOOO good.
I literally love Aloy’s theme
You're a legend for unly uploading the chill and calm songs. Thank You.
Thank you Simonster =) If you have any other Soundtrack you would love to have such a "calm collection" of - please let me know :D
@@DragonstarDT I liked the Red Dead Redemption 2 soundtrack but there are already bunch of collections out there.
Detroit Beocme human also had some pretty dope music.
But no need to make a mix.
Thank you again
This game is just breathtaking in every way! It's emotional and touching. The soundtrack gives me goosebumps! 💚
Both games have great soundtracks.
homecoming ALWAYS makes my soul tremble, its amazing. I love this soundtrack so much, i never tire to listen to it
There really should be a book series about this story...
They are releasing a comic book!
@@kellyramirez7465 That's something at least!
@@kellyramirez7465 Any ideas when?
@@kellyramirez7465 Mmh sounds interesting... Thanks
1:31 every single time.. goosebumps!! Aloy..!
thank you for making this video. a word cant explain how well made this is. perfect. thank you
Awesome soundtrack! This game is seriously one of my favorites.
Thank you very much for this mix, Love Aloy's Theme.
I also love how the pictures keep changing throughout the video, that's a rarity in-game soundtrack videos on TH-cam so good work @DragonstarDT in the editing! It makes it more immersive this way.

Aloy Voice actor: Ashley burch
Rost Voice actor:JB Blanc
HADES voice actor:John Gonzales
Wow... i Love the Game, the Music and this Mix...
I already beat this game but I keep coming back to it. One of the reasons is the soundtrack.
Your choices were awesome, thank you very much. This compilation are perfect to study.
So many amazing soundtracks. Cant wait to play forbidden west and dive into it

Best soundtrack I have ever heard from the gaming world. I don't think people realised that the gaming industry had kind of over taken the film industry in terms of authenticity & artistic innovation some years ago. Funnily enough, machines.. technology could save us. It's called The Venus Project.
Damn man. I just read about the Venus Project and it has some striking similarities to Project Zero Dawn.
Your taste is as shit as your judgment of Venus project....
This is so amazingly good for studying. I love the game and the soundtrack so much! Thanks for the awesome compilation!
One of the best games I've ever played. I'm obsessed, I might replay it starting this week, and really take my time in the world. I just love it so much. Absolutely phenomenal storytelling.
awesome music mix of hzd. it is one of the few games i will surely return to
I can't wait to find the time to finally play Forbidden West - did you play the 2nd one yet Charly B? :)
@@DragonstarDT i wait for the pc release. i hope not too long.

Just discovered this game after the PS5 reveal for Forbidden West. I was debating whether or not to get PS5 or XboxSeriesX. After seeing this game, I absolutely have to get PS5 and play part 2.
Nice
you dont need to get ps5
they just announced that it will be on ps4

Thank You for this mix. I love it.
This is one of the greatest games ever made and if people ever forget it exists one day I'll have lost faith in humanity
Cheers!
Uno de los mejores juegos de la historia!!

It breaks my heart every time I see Rost :( 22:30
it's crazy how much emotion Rost brings over even in this still image... wish I could just take him out for a drink and let him survive
Years of Training is by far my favorite.
Hearing this track for the first time in game together with that training montage was stunning - I knew I was in for a very very special game at this point :D
Forbidden West just came out and it's a little glitchy but still awesome! It's got me falling in love with the game all over again.
Aloy's theme And loading screen theme are the best
Hands down my favorite video game soundtrack ever.
Deserved game of the year in 2017
