I agree honestly they both fit into my sit of view perfectly, survival? yes! Story? yes! Adventure? yes! Good theme songs? Hell yes! I love both games because they are just so interesting

Now matter how many games I have, I still keep going back to Zero Dawn and Forbidden West. They are both have a compelling storyline, one hell of a soundtrack and good game mechanics along with unforgettable characters.

Zero Dawn was a game I got purely on a whim, nothing more I never heard of it until that moment. From the moment that music hit, the sights, sounds and so much more, I knew I found something special When I found that first Vantage Point high in a dilapidated tower, music softly playing, that was when I truly fell in love This game saved me in a way and the music... God the music just gives me a feeling I cannot describe beyond "complete bliss".
The fans excitement of horizon forbidden west being announced back in 2019/20 got me thinking I need to play zero dawn if a game has this much hype. From then on been a fan ✌🏿
When HZD first came out, I didn't pay much attention - fighting giant weaponized robot animals in a post apocalyptic world with spears and arrows because all technology was lost... except for those robot animals? That just sounds silly, can't be any good. Then one day there was a huge discount on Steam, including the expansion - so I thought, ok, for that price it's worth the risk of giving it a try and see what all the fuzz is about - and boy was I wrong about the game. Immediately sucked me in. A truly great game.
One of the greatest soundtracks for any game that truly pushes this to being, in my opinion, the greatest game ever more. The music is so emotionally impactful and brilliant, I love it.
I love the images this music can create in your head. Be it a wonderful landscape, slowly getting healed by the blake, Aloy just sitting in a field and gazing of in her own little world. Or a sudden, unexpected fight with the most terrifying machine ever witnessed by human kind. Destroying all of Aloys surroundings while she finds a way to finally kill the beast. But maybe its also complete despair after being betrayed by Sylens or a.. specific Zenith , seeing the world falling apart without having a chance to do anything against it and just being able to watch. And last but not least, the breathtaking view of the whole Forbidden West as Aloy flys over the Utaru or Tenakth land on the sunwing, doing all kins of tricks or just laying back while flying.. Ok maybe I got a bit too carried away
These many tracks have included atomsphere, and ambiental sounds. Also, some tracks have beautiful voices in separate tracks. These are awesome and totally great works!
I'd say Horizon Forbidden West is the best game of this generation so far. As for the last generation, I'd say NieR: Automata was the best (I liked Zero Dawn as well but, it was Forbidden West the truly made it a great franchise). Besides both being post apocalyptical and dealing with mechanical beings, they both had truly stunning music that really set the mood and made very good games outstanding.
I would have added to this list : Echo of you / No Footfalls to Follow / Resilience to Rise / Rusted Sands / Restless as the Weald / The Trail we leave Behind / Dawn Eases Night / Her World Her Legacy / The Strengh to make a stand / Night Life / 237 / Breached / Look deeper (extended version) / The Crossing / Unshackled / Search and destroy and Storm on the rise. This OST has so many great tracks it's insane.
I have played HZD for hundred of hours and pre order HFW even though i am too busy but this game is something you will be attached to it forever. And definitely this series has best soundtracks in the games history
Right from the very first gameplay reveal when everyone else was remarking on the updated combat system and the graphics, my attention immediately went to how the score was produced to the level of a Hollywood film - just a stunningly well rounded orchestration.
I just hope they release HFW on PC. Loved HZD. Amazing soundtracks, story and gameplay. Edit: I have just found out they are releasing HFW on PC 21 March 2024. *Happy dance*
Literally me. I always much preferred stormbirds to thunderjaws, idk they're just so much cooler imo. Tideripper might be my new favorite machine. They're just gorgeous + you can swim with them. Also slaughterspine >>>>>>>>>>> thunderjaw for the dino feel
