Not true, people WAY over-state Maynard's involvement with the band. Maynard played a VERY minor role on a couple songs of theirs in the 90s, but they had been going since the '81. He was only doing some brief and sparse appearances and definitely was NOT a member of their original lineup or even a full-fledged member of the band by any means.

"Cannonball" is another great song, in addition to "In The Meantime," that most people know but to which very few know the title. It's made me wish I had an app on my phone that I could ask, "Hey, what's the song that goes 'bow-oo-wow-ah, bow-oo-wow-ah, bow-oo-wow-ah, bow-oo-wow-ah . . .?"

There's room for a 3rd. Here are some suggestions:
    Fastball: "The Way"
    Semisonic: "Closing Time"
    Refreshments: "Banditos"
Verve Pipe: "The Freshman" (I know they had more, but this really was their 'one hit'.)

Fastball are a really interesting case. They had one top 20 hit in the US.
It was "Out of My Head". "The Way" didn't even make the Hot 100. Another victim of the airplay vs. record sales dichotomy of the late 90's.

Was gonna say Fastball in no way was 1 hit with "The Way". "Outta My Head" maybe. I liked "Fire Escape" as well, that song is the 90's in that first riff 100%. You hear that opening guitar and instantly know it was 1990's.

They aren’t technically touted as a one hit wonder, due to being highly successful in their home country of Australia, but “I Touch Myself” by Divinyls charted highly in the Billboard charts at #4 in 1991 despite the band doing a number of gigs in the United States in the eighties as well as making an appearance at the 1983 US Festival. Despite having a huge number of hits in Australia in the eighties such as “Boys in Town,” “Science Fiction,” “Pleasure and Pain,” “Back to the Wall” and my favourite “Sleeping Beauty.” “I Touch Myself” was their only huge hit in the United States even gaining controversy with its release in 1991 with various radio stations refusing to play the track due to it being a Frank reference to female masturbation. In 2014, the song became a breast cancer awareness anthem, a year after the death of Divinyls vocalist Christina “Chrissy” Amphlett at age 57 after a three year battle with breast cancer, mind you she had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis since the late nineties. The song had been sung by various female figures in Breast Cancer Awareness PSA’s such as Serena Williams.

As soon as you said favorite OHW (plus I recognized Gregg Alexander on the card), I knew what it was. I actually found your channel because of your New Radicals video and rediscovered you a few months ago. Huge NR fan, still hoping for a second album, and a fan of yours too. Well done!

3:30 I remember it as the song that played during JJ venture’s funeral.

Ironic as it wasn’t even their highest charting song in the UK (The Drugs Dont Work was). Still i guess its a matter of taste

What I remember most about Bitter Sweet Symphony is it being played at the end of Cruel Intentions.

Urban Hymns is a great album. “Lucky Man” is one of my favorite tracks ever.

Being a fan of the Breeders/Kim Deal and considering her participation in the Pixies and just all around musical influence on my life, it’s weird to see her lumped in with the rest of these acts who are largely remembered for just the one song featured but I guess in the general consciousness, that’s how Cannonball is remembered.

I was gonna get upset that Eve 6's Inside Out didn't make this list either, but then I checked the wiki and remembered that Here's to the Night is a song. So I started naming other songs I think of as one-hit wonders into this comment, then started looking them up. It's weird how many one-hit wonder bands had other songs, like Lit, Fastball, Extreme, and maybe The Rembrandts (though I didn't recognize any of their other songs). Still got Primitive Radio Gods, Tal Bachman, and somehow Ben Folds Five though.

Shortly after "Cumbersome" arrived to mainstream music, "My Own Prison" popped up. Both deep distinctive voices doing crossover rock. One is fondly remembered despite being a one-hit wonder. The other... well, I still am a fan of that song even if other songs lead to less fond memories involving yelling SEEEEXX!
Your love of Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too will always make me smile. My shuffle led me to hear "Mother we just can't get enough" this morning.

i was gonna say the Cumbersome SOUNDS like it was sung by Creed, the vocalists really sound alike, at least on that track.

Oasis is my favorite band, but if the Verve had lasted longer I think they could have been more acclaimed than them or even Radiohead. Sonnet and The Drugs Don’t Work are some of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard in my life.

"Prisoner of Society" by The Living End - might be stretching the definition of a hit though - great song and great band either way!

That Deep Blue Something album, "Home," is actually legitimately outstanding! "Breakfast at Tiffany's," (a good song) is probably the third worst song on it. I'd recommend anyone interested to check out, "Halo," "Red Light," or "I Can Wait."
Also, I do in fact know all of the lyrics to, "Breakfast at Tiffany's." I know all the lyrics to every song on the album, even, "Done," which I don't actually like.

Never heard an awful lot from this list. But I remembered being annoyed to death by some of them like New Radicals because my local radio station at the time played it 2 - 3 times in a given day. Same with Deep Blue Something, forgettable band name but can't forget that song.
It was a joke though, during a time when you can actually call radio stations to request songs to be played live, as to how to request Crash Test Dummies. Like, how do you do it without sounding awkward and not resorting to mentioning Crash Test Dummies? It was amusing for a while.

Is Fastball considered a One-Hit Wonder? I know "The Way" was their biggest hit, but I'm the only one I know that seems to remember their other lower charting songs "Fire Escape" and "Out of My Head."

It's always so weird to be reminded that You Get What You Give was released in the 90s. I still vividly remember first hearing it on a car ad, and it feels like yesterday.
