I went to a talk last April outside of Phoenix, Arizona. One of the speakers, Dr. Eric Thomas, gave his tank on catfish. One of the things he said that I found really interesting was about Pleco caves. His suggestion was to use sections of bamboo. Reason being is that plecos like to feed on wood, and when they spawn inside the bamboo tunnels and the fry hatch out, the fry's first meal is right there - the soft, breaking down bamboo on the inside of the tunnel. Just thought I'd share that with you. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Have a fantastic rest of your week! ~Ron
From what I am aware they like the biofilm that grows on the wood but there’s a fair few species that needs the wood to help digestion apparently like royal plecos. Something organic makes more sense though.
That's a great set up with the tubs, huge amount of water. After being in the hobby virtually all my life I'm always amazed at the fish you have that I've never seen in real life in Australia or at least very few times.
@@paulstingray I appreciate it mate. It just blows my mind how expensive they retail for over here when they're like a $20 fish in Thailand/Indonesia! Thanks for letting me know
Total rubbish 😂😂😂 but I can’t have another sealed room with the condensation and all the mould and crap was a nightmare years ago. open as a lot more easier to manage even with the obsessive power bill

Hi Paul, do you have any Giant Gourami trying to spawn / in store? Very difficult to source in QLD. Great tanks mate.
None of mine are big enough
There’s usually a few around every tear or so. Once you see an add for one there’s usually Jesus available

@tomwigg9055 you can’t import them legally into Australia and very few people breed them they need warm water and a large area to build a bubble nest
Whats your electricity bill in the winter with your fishroom being open?
