INDONESIA'S HIDDEN CELEBRITY ISLAND | Mojo Island | Mata Jitu Waterfall

- We spent some time exploring Mojo Island (now known as Moyo) off the north coast of Sumbawa in Indonesia. This island is not nearly as known as some of the other travel destinations in Indonesia such as Bali, Komodo, and the Gili Islands.
There's actually a 5 start luxury resort on Mojo that has had some high profile visitors including David Beckham, David Bowie, Maria Sharapova, Mick Jagger, and others. They visit Mojo because of how remote it is and it's a great place for them to get away from the media/paparazzi. Besides these celebrity guests, not many travelers pay a visit to Mojo.
Besides the resort, the island is pretty rural and pretty raw. There's a population of about 3,000 split between two small villages, and the electricity only runs from 6 am to 6 pm. Mojo is home to some beautiful natural wonders including Mata Jitu Waterfall, so watch our video to check them out!

We always try to speak to locals, or eat tips from other travelers who have visited the area! For Moyo, we were traveling across sumbawa. Cheyne was in a coffee shop in one of the bigger towns there, sumbawa besar. One of the workers asked if he was going to mojo. We didn’t know what Mojo was hahaha but she recommended it so we went!

I went there when I was young with my grandpa ,papa, unvle and aunt, They went there for hunting the wild boar. No hotels no tourist no celebrity. People do barters / exchange no money. They need only drinking water that time. Grandpa brought many drinking water. They let us slept in their mattrass which is only used for special occasions. Everyday they slept on the floor/ bamboo, their houses are build high with stairs due to still many wild animals. That is what ai remember sbout this island. One thing that i remember , I cried and want to go home , because no toilet in the house. Me and my auntie has to go outside in the middle of the night with a little light only for toilet. So scary .But I was a little girl that time ha ha
