    Please put an inline fuse with the positive radio power lead at the battery. It might prevent a fire.

  • @steventiry8701

    If you plan to move the radio between vehicles, put a connector behind the radio. This will let you quickly disconnect the electric to the radio. You can also get a quick disconnect bracket. It just slide in and clips into place.

      @thomaswbennett4857 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I was going to suggest this also. About 40 yrs ago (yes, I am your grandparents age) a friend and I (with spouses and family) would go on trips together, which often included taking our boats. We got into using CB's to keep in touch. We used the quick disconnects to easily move the units from vehicle to vehicle. This eliminated the working under the dash and sting wire through the firewall steps with each switch. It was truly Plug and Play.

    • @andrewsallee2702
      @andrewsallee2702 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      YES this would enable the transfer to YOUR boats!!

      Exactly! Back in the CB Radio days this is exactly what I did between my three vehicles. One radio, three hand-built harnesses.

    I see many connections off the battery that are not fused. These wires can and will cause fires.

    Just a friendly tip, whenever you connect something to the battery, make sure there is a fuse in the circuit. Preferably near the battery side, just in case... :)

    Thanks again Emily & Aaron, a recommendation for the Wiring, put fuses close to the battery, that way if something rubs and you end up with a short the fuse will blow instead of an electrical fire.

    You should do a couple of live streams from the hotel hang out so you can have a few non edit days.
    I would put some fuses in those wires. And a two prong polarized plug behind the radio and similar harness in each car so you can change it up and leave the wiring in the cars.

    love the Bronco billed. it reminds me of the one we had when I was a kid growing up in Oregon. I was told we had the very last one ever made. it had every option you could have.(even had fuel door for bout tanks ) and that 302 and 4 barrel carb made that thing rip.
    I guess they were in such a hurry to put it together that they didn't let the mettle mills cal properly so the paint would rust at the joints and the truck would get a new dealer paint job (whit & green ish ) all the time.
    the ford factory keep trying to buy the truck back but only a fool would sell it to them LOL.

    Along with the Power Tour prep and your late night editing sessions, Emily might have to learn how to take 'Power Naps'!
    Aaron, as to the spare tire rack latch 'hiding' from your sight, you have my sympathy! I can relate so well; I absolutely 'KNOW' I have that part/tool/chemical sitting in my shop, it's that it is 'hiding' from me! So much time wasted looking for the darn thing, running to the store to buy the thing I can't find, only to 'discover' its 'hiding place' after I don't need it!!! AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

    It's great to watch you both get things ready to go. I have one suggestion if you don't mind. If you would have removed the plastic coverings attached to the terminal rings, you could have verified a good connection visually, and then slid the heat shrink up and made them totally waterproofed. Have a great trip, and hope you don't need anything the entire time.

    Always look forward to your videos and the daily uploads are great. Can't wait till you get on the road 😀. Wiring wise as already mentioned below put a fuse at the battery end of those wires an in-line one will do the job and protect the Car and wiring. Also would be good to see grommets where the wiring goes through the firewall if thet aren't there already. If you forget to put the heat shrink on I often find using sleeve expanders on the heat shrink will often expand it enough to get it over the connector failing that you can also use long nose pliers to stretch it as well, as soon as it's heated it will still go back to it's normal size and shrink down on to the wire.
