I always enjoy your how to videos. Some years ago, I lived in China. It was a real eye opener for me to realize that most middle class people there didn't have refrigerators. They just shopped for groceries every day or two. Fridges are convenient, but not a necessity.

    FAUCET PROBLEMS
Hi Eric, My name is David and I am a master plumber here in Salem Massachusetts. I've been plumbing for 40 years. I can tell you why your first faucet started leaking from the base. The O-rings at the base are rated to keep the water sealed in the spout until it gets out the end. When you put a flow restrictor like a .5 gallon per minute on the end of the spout you create back pressure internally in the faucet and the O-rings can't hold the pressure and the base starts to leak. It's the same problem when someone screws on a filter on the end of the faucet. It creates back pressure and blows the seals. I hate to say it but if you want a faucet that doesn't leak you need to put the original aerator on the faucet and watch your water flow.

My husband replaced our sink faucet this summer and we bought a regular delta faucet. Ours was a single unit and in the "spare" hole we put a detergent pump. Fits perfectly and works well. We did need to buy a fixture to hook the water tubing together but Lowe's sell the coupling and so we now have a real, non-RV faucet. We love it. And I love Morgans hair !

We had our fridge go out in our RV last year, which definately affected our trip budget! We managed to buy a take out for a grand. What we did before we replaced the fridge, was we filled our bins with ice, and cooled our food that way. It was a pain to replace the ice all the time but the fridge was pretty well insulated, and larger than a cooler! Might try that rather than buying a cooler. Just a thought... best of luck Eric and Morgan!

Absorbsution refrigs. use the principal of heat rising to work. They are filled with ammonia chloride gas/liquid. If one of the lines get plugged the system stops working. Sometimes they can be restarted by turning the box upside down. This lets the dirt that plugged the line to fall. Problem is the dirt is still inside the system. This is the reason these friges have to be level. If you defrost them wrong they will also spring a leak in its coil/line. I personally would not let a dealer do a check up/estimate. You'll be just throwing your money away. They don't use the estimate money to fix the problem. NO FREE ESTIMATES AT THE DEALERS !! If you have heat from propane or electric and the unit is not cooling you've got your answer. Replace the cooling /absorb.pipes.

    Ok... first things first,
    HI MORGAN!!
Maybe I'm weird but I love the mods, repairs and upkeep part of your channel. That faucet went in a lot easier than I thought. Replacing the one in my kitchen was a nightmare.
So... on the fridge... one advantage to the fridge crash is that now you are forced to eat fresh food. Gotta find the positive in the negative ;)

Bet the kayak break was good for the soul and your perspective. Fridges needing replacing, AC or heat going out, and the list goes on and on, are all part of the plight of the homeowner, whether its a home on wheels or a stick-and-brick. Emergency funds are a must, and life goes on after, all this will be past soon enough. Glad to see you and Morgan smiling and enjoying time together. Rock on!

Long ago I was in the RV business, I'm sure things have changed since then. We used to take the fridge out rotate it 360 degrees to burp it then they worked fine. But like I say it was some 35 years ago. If that didn't work they just replaced the cooling unit on the back side of the fridge.

With you there, ours went out a couple weeks ago and it is what it is. We are not currently full-timing so not a big deal for us and we have an outside refrigerator that works well as a backup. If you are going to be staying in parks anyways for the next period of time - why not buy one of the plug in coolers, you can pick one up for a $100+/- and it would give you more options, will run from a cigarette lighter or plug and you could run it from your gen.. just a thought.. In the grand scheme of things your all healthy and seeing great things in a year from now this will just seem like a bump in the road...

Eric there are no replaceable parts in your fridge except for the 110v element, gas valve & orfice and the control board. They are working or you wouldn't have fire or heat. You will have to either replace the cooling unit or the whole fridge. Like I said before I have been through this before and you need to go to ARP and get their board. They also sell the cooling units. We purchased a different RV this spring and I installed an ARP board in it right away. In old class C I installed that same faucet because our old one was leaking like yours. I thought that was kind of funny we ended up with the same one.

Next time you mess with the sink faucet to keep the water from leaking when you unhook the lines just open up the hot and cold on the tub. It is lower and will drain the water from higher water lines. Be sure to have the hot and cold open on the sink also.

Hi Eric: Dometicc had a recall of some refrigerators. Check and see if your was recalled. You will need the model number and serial number. The recall information can be found on the the Dometic Website. It sounds like you have had an ammonia leak in your cooling system. The fact that your flew is getting hot tells me your motherboard is working and that it is sending a signal to the burner to turn on.
When the burner is running the refrigerator will cool if there is ammonia in the system. Look for yellow residue on the cooling tubes.

I'm sure others have mentioned this, but you can get a cooler style 12v fridge. Looks like a cooler but plugs in. My hubby is a truck driver and used one for years when he was long haul. They're about $90 at a truck stop, usually cheaper at Walmart. Do that to get you by. Makes way more sense then the whole ice trick. Just some friendly advice.

Damn Dude. You have a RV. Buy two coolers, Keep one cooler full of whole bags of ice. When the food cooler needs more ice, take a bag out of the other cooler and add to the food cooler. Since you don't go in and out of the ice cooler the whole bags of ice will melt some but they will last for several days. I know its a hassle but it will get you buy until you can get the fridge fixed.

Sounds like your looking at another cooler, ice, staying at higher end campgrounds (more money), labor for diagnosis, then labor for repair + parts, and finally the cost of being out of your motor home for a few days. Do a quick calculation, you may be over half the price of a new frig before it's done, and still have potential problems ahead. obviously it would be great if you did the work yourself, but even with that you'd be stuck in one place for an extended time. I know you have travel plans too.

Not sure Eric; Florida seems to be a state to avoid. Other than Morgan, of course. Love the Christmas photo scene.

If you go with the ice route, get some dry ice and mix it with reg ice. It will keep colder a lot longer. And if the Reefridge compressor kicks on and off but not cooling it might be low on Freon.

I said this before when you the transmission trouble, you need to set aside an emergency fund. Bare minimum, I'd have $3000.00 squirreled away to be used only for emergency($5000.00 would be better). That way, you'd be able to take care of things breaking without much trouble.

Just want to say thanks for sharing your journey with us. After watching your video another video with some awkward old troll was talking about you. Out of curiosity I clicked to see his video content and he is clearly obsessed with you and doesn't have anything interesting to share. Extremely strange. Ignore these people. Blessings to you and your travels.

Hi Eric, Putting a bit of petroleum jelly on the water faucet stem rubber "O" rings is a good idea to keep them from leaking and lubricated for turning the faucet head in either direction. Just my 2 cents.
    Wow that kayak inflates fast!
    Keep the faith!
