Heard about this in Pastwatch by Orson Scott Card, great book that you might wanna pick up if you like the topic. It's about people in the future that can observe the past and it center on Christopher Columbus.
I gotta say, I really love the content of this channel. Really good to see a collection of ancient and historical literature. But, and what I say is by no means a slight or meant as a snarky or insulting comment, and I will continue to listen to the works you put up on this channel; But Carl does not have an enjoyable reading voice to listen to. I don't know if it's the tamber or the badly placed inflection on sentence endings, or a combination of things. But there is a noticeable "reading the words on the page" sound to it, like a teacher with a child's book, with improper pauses and a start-stop off-rythme to the flow so kids can follow along. Again, I am not saying this to be flippant or combative, I'm just simply pointing out a noticable flaw in the content. I really enjoy channels like "Voices of the Past" and "Legendary Lore" or "Fall of Civilizations". They would be excellent examples to learn and improve from. Either way, thanks for sharing this mass if works and it's really good stuff to get to hear.
@@graceinasweater9169 its a mnemonic formula for oral storytelling. Homer uses them a lot, rosy-fingered dawn, wine-dark sea, grey eyed Athena, Achilles swift of foot etc.
these pronunciations make this version completely unlistenable. it's clear not even an attempt was made to learn them, which is tragic because they really aren't even that hard for English speakers.
When did our self perception and even our hope become so pitifully negative? I can't help but compare to the myths of these primitives and find our narrative lacking in purpose and confidence. How long can you live without a heart?
You cant Really Live without a heart, can you? Though, human animals seem to prove they are up for trying to do this, more and more, these days. As long as they feel they will get better social status if they deny their own authenticity, they'll continue to ruin (unappreciate and undevelop) their gifts. Such is the path of the ego-centered individual and their religion
1:12:09 I am a little skeptical of the only surviving Mayan creation story having mixed Roman and Christian fundamental aspects--the twin boys and first great people of glory and then the virgin mother? I dont believe this one lies on the line of coincidence or the crossing of fate. I believe it is a manipulation of the true original story--a little suspect, I'd say. Still, I am happy for any glimpses I can get into the original nature of the hearts of the people of the land and their influences and values. It is more than we can be grateful for than with the Druids and Their practices, history and foundational beliefs. This tells enough that I should eventually be able to find the true story in myself and in the ancient rocks of the Mazon River I discover and examine more closely. For some reason I feel the Maya did this as well. Their glyphs all remind me of some of my "fossils" I see when I look and clean certain rocks
These native American languages are hard. if you read them you will never get it right unless you hear a native pronounce it. they have sounds that are not super hard to pronounce. but there is no equivalent in the Latin alphabet.
@@belstar1128 Nahuatl is certainly challenging to pronounce but if this guy has at least listened to the correct pronunciation a little before attempting this, it would have at least sounded better than just winging it.
Where have I heard the dulcet tones of this narrator’s beautiful voice before? 😉 Happy New Year to you, the fam, and all the lads!
It's Sargon of Akkad!
Yes, Carl Benjamin
Oh boy... That's one for the download folder on my phone to make my cardio workout epic.
I like all the R & D the framer and the shaper did.
Sargon narrating awesome
Happy New Year and thank you for this gang! 🙏
Starting 2024 on the right foot
I read this in college. Good times.
Happy New Year to you.
What a wonderful surprise.
Thus the toad was defeated. Truly 'twas a fiery contest.
Happy New Year.
Brave New Year, Carl!

I love how Castilian Spanish lords get incorporated into their lordly lineages at the end. Wow.
Next read "Secret Destiny of America" by 33° Manley P. Hall shudder at the implications.

It's nice to see Sargon having time to engage in side projects now that he's retired
Some of the themes here have a lot of similarity to other creation myths.
It all comes from the same well. Differences arise overtime, but our blood remembers.
Happy new year boys
4 hrs 21 min? I'm going for it
some of these stories are actually hilarious
"We provide for them by removing worms from teeth, which is our profession."
I got a real kick out of how many times they had to specify that there were, in fact, four hundred of those boys

Well hello there.
Happy new year 🎉
Are there any more Sargon readings on this channel?
Carl, is that you?
crushing ball court = threshing floor?
painful pronunciation, but worth it.
When I saw the title I thought it was from something in Latin like "the people's vuh"
Is this Carl Benjamin?
Yes its sargon.

Make hooley hooley and hawly hawkey on your faces!

Great to see Sargon/Carl doing this again. The names are probably butchered though.

The narrator didn't even bother to learn how to pronounce any of the names 😂
He will even butcher the languages closest to English.
Zipyercock and Zmoocane

It's like Satan took the Biblical account of creation and just made himself the main character instead of God, lol...
