The American Express Green Card is definitely not getting the respect it deserves. Where does this card rank amongst other similar credit cards in your opinion?
Do you think it is worth getting because of maximizing the sign up bonus fro amex rewards point? Green, Gold and then Platinum? Can you cancel after 1 year and apply for Gold card?
@@living4foodntravel I would definitely say it is worth it if you are able to hit all the sign up bonuses. Amex only lets you get one per card in your lifetime so I would just ensure you can hit them. I dont see any issues with cancelling after a year, but I would always say contact amex directly for their advice
It would be great if Amex dropped the lounge credit and gave it a uber credit like they have for the others of all there charged cards this card would benefit the most from it
Underrated card for lower grade travel as well as for restaurants. The Clear credit covers the annual fee in itself, which has a lot of value, particularly if you travel around peak times (i.e. holiday time).
I was honestly pretty unaware about anything with this card. I knew it existed but saying it gets overshadowed by the gold and platinum is an understatement. Not a bad card, just not the best
Before doing this review on it, I truly wasn’t aware of the perks either! A lot of my focus had been on the other cards in Amex (BCP, BCE, Gold, Platinum), but the green is certainly not a bad option either!
is it just me or in Canada its a 0$ fee starter card ? 1 points on everything 2 on travel i got this one to start slowly stacking points and build relationship with the bank for the gold
I have this in Japan Amazon yahoo shopping Yodobashi and Japan airlines 3x points. Priority pass standard free, Japan domestic lounges free, Ana miles 1000 points 1000 miles. Amex travel site 3x points also. The Amex gold in Japan is more with free stay gift when you expense 2 millions years and 20% cashback at Starbucks
The Green card is an absolute no-brainer for someone who gets benefit from a Clear membership, unless you fly enough to justify having a Platinum (or the airports you frequent don’t have Centurion or Escape Lounges and you don’t fly Delta or Lufthansa). With that said, I think a better comparison card for the last section of your video is the Wells Fargo Autograph, which gets 3X in all of the same categories as the Green for $0 fee.
The autograph is a great option, arguably better than the autograph journey for the need. Couldn’t agree more though that the green card is a no brainer for travelers that aren’t ready to grab the platinum or higher tier cards!
I had it from the time I joined Amex on Feb 2022 to August 2023 before upgrading to Gold since I wasn't eligible for the Gold bonus, just the upgrade Gold bonus. I miss the 3x on cruises on Green, but the credits are GARBAGE with Clear and Lounge Buddy since I don't live near an airport with Clear or lounges.
Yeah, I can definitely see the credits not being the best. I don’t have any Amex card but when I do think I get one I’ll probably go right to the golf for similar reasons

That’s a great take! I don’t see a use for the card for myself currently but there is definitely utility!

Totally agree, the card is really solid but changing the credits a tad would make it so much better!
This was my first Amex card. I'll always own it.
My first Amex too and still have it! Member since 1987.

I totally agree, if you’re an active traveler the perks will pay for themselves in no time. Definitely overshadowed by other cards out there

I’m not too sure on that, if it is that way, that would be really nice! It’s a great card

That’s awesome to hear! It’s always interesting to see how the card diffsrs
@ and you can buy index fund NISA (no tax investment ) with credit cards in Japan and get points for that.

I forgot about the green card. I had that one many years ago but upgrade to Gold 10+ years ago.
Loungebuddy is closing... any news from AMEX on the replacement credit?
I could find if they’ve announced the replacement credit yet or if there will be one. Just searched online and couldn’t find anything
@@MattWertsmaybe that means the Green refresh is happening soon?
@@L-Man-Gaming I believe so! Hopefully a few more perks and credits!

I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone with this card. Everyone just gets the platinum instead.
I don’t think I have either but I’ll keep looking😂
I think you need to fix your mic. Sounds echo-ey like an iPhone mic and not from your dedicated mic.
I think it’s been catching a lot of feedback, I’ve been playing around with it the past few videos. Thanks for pointing it out
