💎The recent elevated bonus on the Amex Green is really pushing a lot more attention to the card! Honestly hasn't been a card on my radar, but definitely is now! That said, I'd still have to say the CSP here given the flexibility, and general "friendliness" of a card!

💚 Great comparison Sebby! I agree that the Green is a workhorse and can make sense if you have a lot of spend in that broad travel/transit category. I got it for the SUB and will probably hang onto it for upgrade offers to other charge cards I've already received SUBs on.

💚 I recently got the Amex Green to add to the Gold + Platinum already in my wallet. Not sure if it is a keeper card because the credits are fairly useless to me, but the 3x MR on travel is pretty sweet! I’ve heard that a good use for the LoungeBuddy credit is some airport hotels in the Middle East, seems like they can count as lounges. That is what I’m planning to use my credit for this year, but for the years after I’m not so sure.

Does the CSP have Loss of Use Coverage for car rental? I know the Amex Green card has it and it is one of the main reasons I got it and a lot of people don’t realize the importance of that. Technically if you got into an accident for everyday the rental car company can’t rent the vehicle due to being out of service, you will have to pay a fee for each day.

Would anyone be willing to offer their thoughts & opinions on my credit card decision?
I have a lot of big expenses & trips coming over the next year (wedding, vacations, etc), and figured it'd be smart to make use of all these large purchases. I'm leaning toward the Amex Green largely because it's looser regarding rewards on travel (I'll be renting multiple Airbnbs in addition to the flights & occasional hotel). That, coupled with improved intro offer and rewards for dining & transit, make me think I'll get good value out of it. I'm not super familiar with the other perks such as clear & loungebuddy, but would hope I'd get some value out of them. I'd obviously need to make a rough estimate of what my spend would be, to see if any of it's worth it with the $150 annual fee (which I realize would be covered with the 20% back on travel expenses, but it just seems like you need to spend a decent bit to really reap any serious rewards ($3000 spent on eligible purchases nets you 9000 points, which when transferred to Delta is worth ~$100?)). I'd then look at the Amex Blue Cash Preferred to cover some other areas of major spend (groceries & gas), which admittedly is cash back and not rewards, but I don't mind (not sure how precious reward points are due to my limited experience, ~1 day of searching lol). I think I'd cancel both after a year, and just have something simple like the Amex Blue Cash Everyday or similar equivalent (unless this is a big no no in credit card culture). Appreciate any advice, thanks!

I actually have found that if you like to fly delta, the green card pairs great with the Amex delta gold. The green card gets you those transit, travel, and dining points while the delta gold gets you the supermarket and delta points. Furthermore, the combined annual is not bad at only $250 per year. Having clear is nice so that’s one benefit. If you spend 10,000 on the delta gold (using it as a catch all), you get $100 in delta flight credit. Furthermore, you get the free bag for every flight; if flying with multiple people on the same ticket, that could be more than $100 each flight. I’d say this is a steal and something I will consider if delta becomes my main airline.

All the Green Card needs to crush the market is to replace the Dining category with Gas/EV, covering multipliers across all travel & transportation methods. This makes it a more appealing addition to the typical Blue-Gold-Platinum setup. As a bonus, I'd say sprinkle in a little Global Entry credit every 4-5 years, and it suddenly becomes a lot more of a viable option for those who can't justify the Platinum - offering Clear, Global Entry & limited lounge visits for $150. Until then, I'll cling to my CSP.

💎💚 If I had to do it again, I would have kept my Gold card and got the Green card when it made sense. Instead, I got an offer from Amex where I upgraded to Platinum. Platinum is not a good fit for me. Also, I was really disappointed to find out there is a transfer fee for moving Amex points to Delta (could apply to all partners). I want to get Green card which I think will be a better fit.

I just want to point out the Primary CDW you have on Amex is a lot less of a headache to deal with than chase. I rented a car for me wife and she tapped someone. Amex was a breeze to deal with. On the other hand I rented a SUV for my daughter and her friends for a bachelorette party with my CSR and the hoops I had to jump through were ridiculous.
So yes, chase’s CDW is free but what’s your time worth.

💚- I will probably always choose team Amex all day everyday. Chase customer service is right there with that of Citi and just going down hill as time passes. There is a Chase branch near me but it is closed and it forces me to go across town to the next nearest one. Kind of a bummer. Probably why I moved to US Bank instead. 😀

@@rrt08 I have been to the local branch a couple times for personal banking tasks but not credit cards. The people are super nice but Chase policies hinder them. Kind of anxious to close my Chase checking to avoid their ridiculous fees. US Bank at least waves the checking fee with one of the credit cards. Chase seems to fee it is so big it can do what it wants. Not what makes customers happy.
